I'm more comfortable in Bollywood than Hollywood: Nargis Fakhri

Actress Nargis Fakhri, who is making her debut in Hollywood with the film "Spy", says she is comparatively more comfortable in Bollywood. "I think I am feeling comfortable in Bollywood more than in Hollywood because I have spent more time here now and I am understanding a lot of things. I am feeling pretty good here. I really don't plan on running off anywhere," Nargis, who finds it "easier" to communicate in English, said. "What I do love so much is music and dancing so, that's why I prefer to give more attention here. I love music," she added. The current status of Nargis' career is much to her liking. "I always wanted to do a bit of Bollywood and a bit of Hollywood. I am in a great phase and very happy. I have made it on my own, so it's been an interesting journey," she added. The "Rockstar" actress is currently in process of looking at some scripts. "I like to take my own time and I don't like to rush. I do take time and I have patience. I have worked with biggest actors from the beginning I am hoping God will bless me to work with other big actors," added Nargis. She teamed with Ranbir Kapoor in "Rockstar" and with John Abraham in "Madras Cafe". She also featured in "Main Tera Hero", starring Varun Dhawan.

Don't compare action in Bollywood with Hollywood, says Akshay

Hindi cinema's very own action star Akshay Kumar, a trained martial arts expert, finds it unfair when people compare fight sequences in Hollywood films with those in Bollywood. He says budget constraints are the differentiating factor. Akshay is geared up for his new film "Brothers", in which he promises to show off some novelty in action -- considering he and actor Sidharth Malhotra dedicated 52 days to shooting the climax alone. Talking about "Brothers", Akshay shared that they invested a lot of practice for the fight sequences for the movie. "Martial arts is not something that you can do just because you know it... you have to practice it, and rehearse and make it better. One has to also keep in mind what different can you give to them," he said at a press conference here. Asked about comparison between the nature of action in Hollywood versus Bollywood, the "Baby" actor shared: "These days Hollywood films come in, and somewhere you are competing with them and surely the audience does feel that we have seen the action there too, but they also forget the fact that our Hindi cinema is made in a very tight budget unlike Hollywood. "We are doing very well as a matter of fact, especially seeing how much money is put in and pumped in to our films." "Brothers" is an action-drama film, based on mixed martial arts. It is directed by Karan Malhotra and produced by Dharma Productions, Lionsgate films and Endemol India. Releasing on Friday, the film is an official remake of the 2011 Hollywood film "Warrior". It also features actors Shefali Shah and Jackie Shroff in supporting roles.

Bollywood's KING joins hands with Hollywood's SUPERMAN

Sajid Nadiadwala as usual has managed the near impossible for Kambakkth Ishq. After getting the who's who of Hollywood to star in his magnum opus to be directed by newbie director Sabir Khan, Sajid is ready with yet another announcement. After Slyvester Stallone and Denise Richards, yet another Hollywood biggie joins the star cast of Kambakkth Ishq and it is none other than Brandon Routh, better known as Superman from the Superman series. Brandon's just finished shooting an extensive action portion with the hero of Kambakkth Ishq, the action king Akshay Kumar himself. A source present on the sets revealed, "Akshay and Brandon had to perform a stunt scene together. It was the most crucial scene of the film. It was the most dangerous too. Brandon was very impressed with Akshay after watching him perform dangerous stunts for the film. He was surprised that in Bollywood actors performed the stunt scenes themselves." "Also both the stars exchanged tips on fitness action and martial arts. It was fun to see them bond. Brandon was very happy working with the team of Kambakkth. As it is, it was such a big coup to get Brandon. It is difficult to get him considering his phenomenal popularity as Superman. Kids simply love Brandon. Also, Beandon means 'Box Office Gold' in Hollywood, just like apna Akki in Bollywood. Kamabkkhth Ishq will be grabbing interest of children as well as they will get to see their Superman sharing space with Indian action king Akshay Kumar", concludes the source.

Bollywood gets high on sequels – a la Hollywood

The Hindi box office will soon be laden with sequels like “Race 2″, “Don 2″ and the third instalments of “Dhoom”, “Golmaal” and “Phoonk” as Bollywood walks in Hollywood’s footsteps to make filmmakers feel secure and keep a captive audience in good cheer. “It is a commercial decision. If something works and you can continue the same story, why not bring it back again with the same theme and energy?” Karan Johar said. “As long as you make it exciting for people, the idea works,” said the filmmaker, who is producing the sequel of his Abhishek Bachchan-John Abraham-starrer hit “Dostana”. Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma said: “It is not about following Hollywood. These days in Bollywood, everyone thinks in terms of only sequels. One spends so much money and effort in creating a brand; so it makes logical sense to carry it forward. “Eventually, a film is a unit and if it excites or interests you then why not take it further? It is eventually a market demand,” added Varma, who is responsible for sequels like “Sarkar Raj” and “Phoonk 2″. A third instalment in the horror series is already in the making. There are two classes of sequels – character-driven and theme-driven. These can further be divided into two sub-categories – story-driven movies that are chronological and independent stories with one central character. Bollywood has adopted both. Bollywood perhaps witnessed its first sequel with the Sri Devi-starrer “Nigahein” in 1989 that was a follow-up of “Nagina” (1986). In 1999, Mahesh Manjrekar then set the box office ablaze with Sanjay Dutt-starrer “Vaastav”, which was followed up by a dud, “Hathyar”, three years later. In the new millennium, the Hindi film industry has had a fair share of part two of movies – “Phir Hera Pheri” (2006) after “Hera Pheri” (2000), “Golmaal Returns” after “Golmaal”, “Hyderabad Blues 2″ (2004) after “Hyderabad Blues” (1998), “Lage Raho Munna Bhai” (2006) after “Munnabhai M.B.B.S” (2003), and “Dhoom 2″ (2006) after “Dhoom” (2004). Now the Hindi film industry is looking forward to “Hera Pheri 4″, “Dhoom 3″, “Krrish 2″ – part three in the “Koi…Mil Gaya” franchise, and the third outing in the “Golmaal” series that releases this Diwali. Industry rivals Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan will also take their character legacies forward in “Most Wanted” (sequel of “Wanted”) and “Don 2″ respectively. Trade analysts estimate over Rs.200 crore to be riding only on “Race 2″, “Wanted 2″, “Partner 2″, “Don 2″ and “Dhoom 3″. Actor-producer Anil Kapoor, who has outings like “Race 2″ and “Be Positive” (sequel of “No Entry”) in hand, thinks sequels are a risk-mitigation strategy. “This (sequel) is a safer path because the numbers have become big, so they (producers) want to go the safe way. The sequels and prequels have an in-built audience; so these at least assure that a set audience will come and watch the movie in the first weekend as it has become a weekend business now. “The effort is as much but the only thing is it makes everybody feel more secure. The stakes have become so high. It is less risky. At least the studios and producers feel like that,” he added. Versatile actor Boman Irani, who has starred in the “Munnabhai” series and will now revive his roles in the sequels of “Don” and “Dostana” respectively, is of a different opinion. “Every movie is a different movie. You don’t say I am watching a sequel as I have watched the first one. If the movie is not good, no one is going to watch it. The sequel has to be very good and so it should be treated as an independent product,” said Boman. While the sequels of comedies like “Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron”, “Andaaz Apna Apna”, “All The Best”, “Partner 2″ and “Singh Is Kinng”, and sci-fi hit “Mr. India” are in talks, part three in the “Munnabhai” franchise is reportedly in the offing. Sequels to the Vivek Oberoi-starring action-thriller “Prince”, Emraan Hashmi-starrer “Murder” and a 3D sequel of steamy hit “Jism” may also be floated soon.

Hissss'- Hollywood brain, Bollywood body

As everyone knows the snake woman popularly known as Naagin is getting back in a big way to Bollywood. With this movie the leading lady Mallika Sherwat might also be looking out for a rejuvenation of her limping career as a result of two big time flops. The film has now been given the title 'Hissss' and more than expectations there is the factor of curiosity of how the movie when finished will turn out to be. This curiosity gets its fuel from the thinking which constantly makes the film lovers imagine how the new age Naagin will be portrayed, how good the leading lady will be and from the fact that as the movie is directed by a foreigner, a way of film crafting different from that of the Indian film makers can be expected. The movie is being directed by Jennifer Lynch who is the daughter of the 4 time Oscar nominee and 2 time Cannes film festival winner David Lunch. She has made a movie called 'Surveillance' which got fantastic reviews when show at the Cannes Film Festival 2008. Jennifer surely will not waste this chance to create a high impact movie and thus grab the attention of Indian film lovers. We will hope that this film maker who by making 'Hissss' wishes to make her own contribution to the tradition of cult thriller movies such as 'Silence Of The Lambs' and 'Predator' will not disappoint us. The revenge story is being produced by Vikram Singh & Goving Menon of Split Image Pictures. 'Hissss' will narrate how the 4000 year old folk story of Naagin attracts a cruel American who decides to travel to India and find out the truth. So in 2009, the character George States played by Jeff Douchette travels to the jungles of India and manage to capture the mate of the snake woman. This action of the villain leads the Naagin to transform into a gorgeous attractive woman who comes to the modern world fuming with vengeance and armed with her poisonous venom to find her captured lover. This desperate search of the protagonist for her soul mate results in horrifying deaths and slender escapes from the claws of death. Irrfan Khan plays a prominent role in the movie. One reason why this movie is a must watch for all the movie buffs is because of the involvement of Robert Kurtzman who is considered as a special effects and make up genius. A mere glance at his work profile is enough to know the quality which can be expected from him. He is same man behind the visual effects of movies such as 'Evil Dead' and 'Spy Kids'. He is a trusted team man of the path breaking film maker Quentin Tarantino having worked with him in all his films. Robert Kurtzman has also worked with Robert Rodriguez. He wrote the story of 'From Dusk Till Dawn' directed by Mr. Rodriguez. He has also worked along with Tom Cruise for the film 'Vanilla Sky' and John Travolta for 'Pulp Fiction'. 'Hissss' will be hitting the big screen by the middle of 2009.
