Actress Richa Chadha has started shooting for Pooja Bhatt’s latest movie "Cabaret". She took to her social networking account and shared the shot of the 'mahurat clap' with her fans. "#Shooting #Cabaretthefilm #outdoor @poojab1972,” Richa, who was in France to promote "Masaan" last week, captioned the image. "Cabaret", as the name of the movie suggests, is based on dance, which Richa has been extensively learning and practicing for a long time. However, speculation is rife that the film is inspired by yesteryear actress and cabaret queen Helen’s life. Neither Pooja nor Richa have officially confirmed whether the movie has anything to do with the life of Helen. Pooja is said to have searched intensively for two long years, before she signed Richa in the lead role. The movie is being directed by Kaustav Narayan Niyogi and produced by Fisheye Network private limited.
Richa Chadha to play journalist
Actress Richa Chadha will be seen as a journalist in "Chalk n Duster". Although it’s just a cameo, Richa’s role is said to be strong and powerful. If sources are to be believed, Richa took inspiration from the popular political journalist Rana Ayyub, who happens to be her friend too. "Thankfully we were shooting in an actual news studio so, I could take cues from experts then and there itself," Richa said in a statement. “Chalk n Duster” is Bollywood’s well-known make-up artist Subhash Singh’s maiden production venture and stars veteran actress Shabana Azmi, Juhi Chawla, Anupam Kher, Jackie Shroff, Zarina Wahab, Aarya Babbar and Divya Dutta.
Richa Chadha to replace Chitrangda Singh in 'Babumoshai Bandookbaaz'
Over a week after Chitrangda Singh walked out of Kushan Nandy's much delayed film, 'Babumoshai Bandookbaaz', the makers have apparently zeroed in on a replacement. Richa Chadha is likely to step in as Nawazuddin Siddiqui's leading lady. Chitrangada had alleged that the makers were forcing her to do intimate scenes that were unnecessary and also did not go with her character. She claimed that she was asked to wear an unbuttoned blouse and a petticoat, and lie on Nawaz with her legs spread apart. The two parties had an ugly spat and traded several allegations against each other after she opted out of the film. Says a source, "The makers were waiting for the controversy to blow over before announcing a replacement. They are finalising another actress and want to begin anew. In all probability, it is going to be Nawaz's 'Gangs of Wasseypur' (2012) co-star Richa." A cautious Nandy says, "Richa is a wonderful actor and it would be a pleasure to have her on board, but at this juncture, I cannot comment on this. I am confirming and not confirming (the story) at this point." He adds that their ongoing shoot in Lucknow has not stopped post Chitrangada's exit. "Our shoot is on schedule," says the director. The long-in-the-making film had gone on the floors earlier this month in Lucknow. Nawaz and Chitrangda had shot for 'Babumoshai Bandookbaaz' in December 2014 in Kolkata, Bolpur and Burdwan in West Bengal. The shoot was, however, affected due to alleged trouble with local technicians and non-payment of dues. Nandy then started it as a new project and whatever had been shot earlier was scrapped. He now has the added task of deleting what was shot with Chitrangda in the current Lucknow schedule. Richa, who is attending an awards ceremony in Spain, remained unavailable for comment.
Watch out for Asha Bhonsle in 'Cha Cha Cha'
As Asha Bhonsle comes up with a twin CD album in a nicely decorated pack where she remembers RD (pancham-da), one thing that catches your attention in the first instance itself is the usage of RED color. Everything about the album is RED, be it the cover or the inlay design. And this is not all, as the video of the promotional number 'Cha Cha Cha' [Shalimar] too has been shot primarily in RED with the sets colored with different shades of red. Also to add a cherry on the cake, Asha Bhonsle too dons a RED shimmering saree (instead of the conventional whites she wears on a regular basis) and dances along with a horde of other professional background dancers to the tunes of RD's 'Cha Cha Cha' that was originally crooned by Usha Uthup.
It's a wrap for Gurinder Chadha's next film
Popular British filmmaker of Sikh origin Gurinder Chadha has completed filming "Viceroy's House" here. She's geared up for "a great editing ride now". "It's going to be a great editing ride now," she further wrote on the micro-blogging site. It is produced by Deepak Nayar, Chadha and her husband Paul Mayeda Berges.
Pooja Bhatt reveals why Richa Chadha-starrer 'Cabaret' has been delayed
Pooja Bhatt yesterday revealed why her upcoming production, Cabaret starring Richa Chadha, has been delayed. The film is apparently facing copyright violation. The actress-turned-filmmaker tweeted, “Much speculation about the release of @cabaretthefilm & rightly so. Truth is my copyright has been violated on the film & we are fixing that.” She then posted, “All my films get a dignified release. Will not permit @CabaretTheFilm to debut unless ALL players put their supposed clout & might behind it.” Cabaret was slated to hit the marquee on May 27. It was then pushed to June 10, but now there is no news of any release date.
