Sanchita Bhattacharya, the 'Li'l Champs' champion is already making inroads in the playback world of Bollywood. She recently recorded a peppy dance number for director Rajat Kapoor's forthcoming film 'Mithiya'. The music for this dance number is being given by a Chicago based music director Sagar Desai. Sanchita has a fantastic voice and a wide vocal range. Add expression and you have a complete voice. But I've always felt that she was not fit for being a part of 'Li'l Champs'. Reason being that firstly she doesn't look a kid from anywhere. Moreover, it ought to have been a competition for untrained voice whereas she sounds totally trained and ready to take on big challenges. Well, never mind, she is a good find for Bollywood. And after Sunidhi Chauhan and Shreya Ghoshal (Both started early) Sanchita can be the next big singer in demand

Even as Akshay Kumar struggles to get land allotted for a martial arts school in Mumbai, the participants of last year's Akshay Kumar Karate Tournament have just returned from an international karate championship with gold and bronze medals. And Akshay, always the sporty star, can't stop grinning about his students' triumph. "What an absolute pleasure and honour it is. Not only have the winners of my annual Karate Tournament participated in the 12th Milo Malaysian World Championship, they have come home to India bravely carrying two gold medals and three bronze... Incredible achievement! This is what this is all about. Giving children and adults the opportunity to represent their sport and their country," he said. In all, 23 karate students, aged 3-38 years, participated in the championship in Malaysia. Says Akshay: "I am very proud of all the Indian contestants. They've made their coaches, families, country and me very proud. And they've brought hope and inspiration to many karate lovers across India. See you at my next tournament." Raikkonen terms Formula One championship boring, riddled with politics
London, Jan 6 (ANI): Formula One ace Kimi Raikkonen has blasted the drivers’ championship as boring and riddled with politics. Finland’s former F-1 champ said that winning the World Rally Championship would mean more than lifting the Grand Prix crown again. Raikkonen has switched to rallying after failing to secure a drive in F1. “In F1 too many things overshadow the racing. There is too much politics. No one says what he thinks because he is afraid that things are taken out of context,” The Sun quoted him, as saying. “The atmosphere in rallying is much nicer. It’s more about the performance of drivers. In rallying every curve, every hill may be different than you thought. That makes it interesting,” Raikkonen said. “Winning a world rally crown would mean more than my F1 World Championship. I’ve got to learn everything from scratch but I want the challenge,” he added. Pakistan become Asian champions
Pakistan recorded a dramatic two-run victory over Bangladesh in a sensational final to win the Asia Cup one-day tournament for second time here at the Shere Bangla National Stadium on Thursday. Earlier, they had become the Asia Cup champions in 2000. It was looking that Bangladesh, playing the final for the first time in Asia Cup history, would win the title. They played extremely well – first restricting Pakistan to 236-9 in 50 overs with their accurate bowling and alert fielding and then batted with determination to reach very close to the winning target but lost the match just three runs short. Chasing 237, the hosts needing nine runs in the last over, finished at 234-8 in 50 overs. Their main scorers were allrounder Shakib Al Hasan (68) and opener Tamim Iqbal (60). Tamim with Nazimuddin (16) provided a sound start making 68 for the first wicket and later Shakib and Nasir Hossain (28) added valuable 89 runs for the fourth wicket partnership. For Pakistan, paceman Aizaz Cheema grabbed three wickets while fast bowler Umar Gul and off-spinner Saeed Ajmal each finished with two wickets. Earlier, Bangladesh captain Mushfiqur Rahim won the toss and invited Pakistan to bat first, who set a moderate target of 237 runs for the hosts. Wicketkeeper-batsman Sarfraz Ahmed top scored with an unbeaten 46, followed by Mohammad Hafeez (40), Shahid Afridi (32), Umar Akmal (30) and Hammad Azam (30) as no other batsmen could not enter into double figures.
Bayern Munich lose 1-0 to Atletico Madrid in Champions League semifinal
An early goal by youngster Saul Niguez gave Atletico Madrid a gritty 1-0 victory over Bayern Munich in the first leg of their Champions League semifinal on Wednesday. The 21-year-old Niguez cleared three defenders before entering the area and hitting a low, well-placed shot into the far corner in the 11th minute. Diego Simeone's tough defense then took over and Atletico held on for an important victory at the Vicente Calderon Stadium. A draw next week in Germany will be enough for Simeone's side to reach the final for the second time in the last three seasons. "It's still wide open," Simeone said. "The return game should be just as exciting for everyone watching it. It will be a difficult challenge against a very strong team." Pep Guardiola's Bayern, trying to reach the final for the first time since winning the title in 2013, came close to equalizing with a long-range shot by David Alaba in the 54th, but the ball struck the crossbar with Atletico goalkeeper Jan Oblak already beaten. Striker Fernando Torres could have increased Atletico's advantage in the 75th but he also struck the woodwork after a breakaway. "It was a fantastic night and I'm happy for all Atletico supporters," Torres said. "We've got what we wanted, which was to get the scoreline in our favor ahead of the second leg." Real Madrid and Manchester City drew 0-0 in their first-leg match in England on Tuesday. Wednesday's draw ended Bayern's 11-game unbeaten streak, and kept the German side winless in its last eight knockout games away from home. "We had a slow start," Guardiola said. "We have to play at a different pace in the second leg. Their goal was brilliant, but it came from our mistake - we kept standing off him. I'm not happy with how we played. If we let them run and win fouls, it will be hard. It's not a good result." Bayern, in the semis for the fifth straight year, has been eliminated by Spanish clubs at this stage of the Champions League the last two seasons — to Real Madrid in 2014 and Barcelona in 2015. It was the team's ninth loss in 13 trips to Spain. Guardiola's team controlled possession but was not able to break through the tight defense set up by Simeone. Bayern was able to threaten more in the second half and created some clear scoring chances, but couldn't capitalize on any of them. In addition to Alaba's shot onto the crossbar, Bayern also came close to scoring with a header by Javi Martinez in the 56th and a powerful shot by Arturo Vidal in the 73rd. Both attempts required difficult saves by Oblak, who has kept a clean sheet in five straight games. "We did very well in the second half," Alaba said. "We created a lot of chances, but in the end it wasn't enough." Atletico also hadn't created much when Niguez scored to ignite the crowd of more than 50,000 fans at the Calderon. The midfielder left three defenders behind outside the area before moving into the box and clearing another one before calmly firing a left-foot shot past Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer. The ball struck the far post before going in. "It was definitely the most important goal of my career and probably the most beautiful one as well," Niguez said. France striker Antoine Griezmann, who scored twice when Atletico eliminated Barcelona in the quarterfinals, almost increased the lead from close range in the 30th - but Neuer made a great save with his left foot. It was Atletico's 25th win in 30 European games at the Vicente Calderon. Simeone's team hasn't lost at home in 10 straight games, winning eight. Atletico has kept a clean sheet in 14 of its last 16 Champions League games at home. It was the teams' first meeting since the 1974 European final, when Bayern won the first of its five titles. Atletico has never won the Champions League.
