Soniya Jehan, the lead actress in TAJ MAHAL - AN ETERNAL LOVE STORY (2005), would be returning to the big screen with KHOYA KHOYA CHAND. After enacting the character of Mumtaz Mahal in Akbar Khan's mega production, she would now be playing the role of Ratanbala, a reigning diva from the Bollywood of 50s in KHOYA KHOYA CHAND. As a woman who is insecure, neurotic and has suffered a breakdown after being jilted in love, she gets to sink her teeth into a complex character. Directed by Sudhir Mishra, KHOYA KHOYA CHAND stars Shiney Ahuja and Soha Ali Khan in the lead and is releasing on 7th December worldwide.
After DIL DOSTI ETC., Jha's next is KHOYA KHOYA CHAND
With APAHARAN, Prakash Jha has turned producer by launching his banner Holi Cow Pictures. An Ajay Devgan starrer directed by Jha himself, the film was hit. Buoyed by the success of the film at the box office, Jha announced two more films DIL DOSTI ETC. and KHOYA KHOYA CHAND. While debutant Manish Tiwary was roped in for the former, the latter had experienced Sudhir Mishra at the helm. As is the scene today, DIL DOSTI ETC. has paid rich dividends to the film maker by turning out to be a surprise box office success. Meanwhile Jha has got himself busy into releasing KHOYA KHOYA CHAND, the promotion of which has begun, albeit on a very light note. Starring Shiney Ahuja and Soha Ali Khan in the lead along with Soniya Jehan, Rajat Kapoor, Vinay Pathak, Sushmita Mukherjee and Dipannita Sharma, this period film belonging to the 60s is aiming for a December release.
'Chaand Ke Paar Chalo' on 31st Marc
Preeti Jhangiani's career may not have seen much ups after the phenomenal success of 'Mohabbatein' but that hasn't deterred the 'chui-mui' girl from still trying her best to be accepted by Bollywood. After some inconsequential roles in movies like 'Baaz', 'Chehra' and 'Chaahat', she gets an opportunity to sink her teeth into an author back role of a street dancer in 'Chaand Ke Paar Chalo' that releases on 31st March. The hero making is debut opposite him is Sahib while the movie is produced Babar Chopra and directed by Mustafa Engineer. Let's hope the movie does to her career what other multistarrer movies have failed to do in the past and she finally gets her due.
Jackie Chan to launch Kamal Haasans Dasavatharam audio
It can't get bigger than this. The audio of the much awaited movie Dasavatharam, touted to be the costliest movie to have ever been made in Tamil cinema, will be launched by Jackie Chan. According to sources close to producer Oscar Ravichandran, Dasavatharam's audio would be a gala affair and would certainly find a place in the history of Indian cinema. Jackie Chan will come all the way to grace the occasion. It may be recalled that Oscar Ravichandran had distributed several Jackie Chan movies in Tamil Nadu a few years ago. Jackie was shown a few clippings from the movie and he appreciated Kamal Haasan for giving his best in the movie. He readily agreed to be part of the audio launch. Plans are on to invite prominent actors including Amitabh Bachchan, Chiranjeevi, Mammootty, Mohanlal and Vishnuvardhan for the mega launch. Dasavatharam has musical score by Bollywood's most sought-after music composer Himesh Reshammiya. The movie directed by K S Ravikumar features Kamal Haasan in ten different roles with Asin and Mallika Sherawat giving him the right company. According to Ravikumar, "The songs have come really good. It would make an impact among the music-lovers. Himesh has come up with a good stuff". The audio launch is expected to be launched by February, 2008.
Jackie Chans arrival costs five and half crore?
The confusion over the much awaited 'Dasavadharam' audio release ceases to end. The date of release might get postponed further due to the change in the date of the international star Jackie Chan's arrival. It is said that the release date will be fixed according to his availability. Besides the postponement drama, the high profile guest's presence in the function proves to be a costly affair for the producers. It is said that his honorarium for attending the function, transportation expenses, security arrangement, and other expenses would come up to Rs five and half crores. But producer Oscar Ravichandran is unperturbed. He is gearing up to conduct the function in a grand manner without bothering about the expenses. The sources close to the producer say that the release date is yet to be decided, as the IPL cricket matches to be held in April. The IPL matches are scheduled to be played between April 18 and June 1. So we can assume that Dasavadharam audio release to be held before April 18. Can we expect the audio to be released on Tamil New Year's Day?
Jackie Chan and Mohanlal in a Japanese film
Versatile Malayalam actor Mohanlal will be working in a full fledged international film based on the life and times of Nair-San (1905 ' 1990), a man of Indian origin (a Tamil father and a Malayalee mother) but who lived his life mostly in Japan. Though in Japan, he was actively involved in the freedom struggle against imperialistic Great Britain. His cause was not just limited to India but also for many other parts of Asia. Nair-San will be brought to life on the silver screen by Albert, an aluminous of the Film and Television Institute in Chennai. Committed to serious cinema, Albert is the recipient of three Kerala state awards. Says Albert, 'My fascination for Nair-San made me come up with a script and found many interested people in Japan. I thought one vital character of the film would suit Jackie Chan and sent the script to his office. Jackie Chan evinced his interest within a week for the cameo role and also volunteered to choreograph an action sequence'. Playing Nair-San has caught the imagination of Mohanlal and has given a 125-day call sheet to the director. An excited Mohanlal said, 'My father had told me about Nair-San and I liked the person a lot. I was also told that he used to stay in Poojapura, the same area I stay in Thiruvananthapuram'. The film is to be produced by Morpheus Media Ventures Private Ltd., and A. R. Rahman is expected to score the background score. The film will be shot extensively in Japan, Inner Mongolia and a few scenes in India.
