'Chalk N Duster' will make you clap for your teachers: Juhi

Actress Juhi Chawla says that her upcoming film "Chalk N Duster" will deeply touch viewers and make them want to clap for their teachers and hug them. "'Chalk N Duster' is something that touches you, which makes you both cry and laugh. This is a story that'll touch you deeply, make you stand up and clap for your teachers or go and give them a hug," Juhi told. The shooting of the film had begun in April and Juhi said that now they are at its end and expect to release in a couple of months. The film has been termed an educational film about teachers but Juhi says: "It is about teachers and it involves children, but it's not just about teachers. It's about people, it's about ethics and the effect teachers have on their students. It's a lovely script." Juhi considers the film to be on similar lines of other films based on children's education and difficulties like "Taare Zameen Par" and "Stanley Ka Dabba". "It's from a similar genre. 'Taare Zameen Par' brought you something really new but at the same time, something that you would perhaps be aware of it and heard of, but it brought to the fore the experience of what it is to be dyslexic or to have a dyslexic child." The film is directed by Jayant Gilatar and has been produced by Amin Surani. It also stars Shabana Azmi, Jackie Shroff, Divya Dutta, Samir Soni, and Girish Karnad, among others.

Harsh Chhaya as a villain

Harsh Chhaya was last seen on television in Sabse Bada Rupaaiya. He has just completed his soon to be released film Dhadkaney. He plays a villain in the film. He had never played commercial and full-fledged villainous role in the past. This is his first time. His character is called Maharaja or Badshah who has forces girls in to commercial sex trade. He brings up the lead actress of the film Preeti Mehra so that she can get into the business full throttle. But she runs away with Atin Bhalla who is the hero of the film and who she loves. Then Badshah runs a search for the two. The film ends in his change of heart. Love emerges victorious. The film is a combination of Salman Khan starrer Baghi and Sanjay Dutt starrer Sadak. Harsh's character in particular is similar to Sadashi Amrapurkar'r character in Sadak. Except that Harsh is not a eunuch. The film is being made by Manu Surti and directed by Khalid Imraan. The lead actors of the film are debutants. The film is expected to release at the end of this month. Chhaya is also playing one of the 6 corporates in the film Corporate being made by Madhur Bhandarkar.

Laughter challenge winner reduced to sidekick in PHP

When this man won the coveted first prize for popular television show THE GREAT INDIAN LAUGHTER CHALLENGE a few months back, he would have thought that the world of comedy now belonged to him! Little must he have known that he would be relegated to playing a sidekick to another comedian in his very first Bollywood outing. Sunil Pal, the winner of GREAT INDIAN LAUGHTER CHALLENGE, had a forgettable Bollywood debut recently as he played one of the 3-4 sidekicks to Johney Lever, who himself played a small time criminal in the film 'Phir Hera Pheri'. With barely a dialogue or two to utter, his role was nothing more than dozens of extras that one sees in a regular Bollywood film. There was some consolation for him in the form of a small appearance in the music video of 'Ae Meri Zohrajabeen', though there too he was in the far corner of the frame with not a single close shot of his! Post PHP, Sunil Pal must certainly be playing all his cards close to his heart and waiting for the right opportunity to be a part of rather than being surrounded by a dozen odd established comic actors!

Mahek Chahal returns with DAP

3 years back a sweet girl came in the neighborhood and made all the young men fall for her. The film was 'Nayee Padosan' and the girl was pretty face Mahek Chahal! While she was seen soon in the superhit song 'Saat Samundar Paar' [Chameli] along with Kareena Kapoor, she couldn't really capitalize much on it with not many flicks falling in her lap. She had her chances with a small time film 'Anjaan', a psychological thriller about a man, a woman and the other man but unfortunately the film is still waiting to see the light of the day inspite of 2 years passing by since it has been ready. Finally the long wait for Mahek to be seen on the big screen would be over as she would be seen in the Punjabi flick 'Dil Apna Punjabi'! Directed by Manmohan Singh who is considered as Yash Chopra of Punjab, 'Dil Apna Punjabi' is a high profile film that comes from the house of TIPS films. Starring Harbhajan Mann as a lead actor with Neeru Bajwa opposite him, 'Dil Apna Punjabi' is getting readied for a release soon.

Celina chali Cairo

Celina is pretty ecstatic these days as the Egypt Tourism board has made her the brand ambassador of Egypt from India. Taking time from her hectic schedule, Celina made a trip down to Cairo to see the dynamic metropolis, which is also the largest city in the Middle East. Celina along with her team made a visit to the Media Production City on the outskirts of the city. It's what Film City is to Mumbai. "They have state of the art studios with best sets which can be used for shoots. I think they are very suitable for our Indian films as the facilities including a hotel close by make it a good option," says Celina. After the meeting Celina and her team met the Minister of Tourism, H.E Mohamed Zoheir Garana as well as Egyptian Tourism Authority Chairman, Amr El Ezaby. His Excellency, The Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Dr. Mohammed Higazy said, "We want people to know that Egypt is not just about the Pyramids. We are working strategically on the tourism industry in Egypt. For its growth, we are offering easy visas, lower ticket rates, various tour packages etc. We hope to double the number of Indian tourists to Egypt by 2009. We are spending half a million U.S. Dollars in the next six months to encourage traffic between India and Egypt." Celina also met up with few Egyptian actors including actor Dr. Ezzat Abbou-Ouf who is the president of the Cairo International Film Festival. Celina promised them that she would be part of this year Cairo International Film Festival which will be held from November 27 th to to 7th December.
