After a stupendous hit in Chithiram Pesuthadi, director Mysskin became very popular and several production houses urged him to do a movie for them. Though Chithiram Pesuthadi received rave reviews for its screenplay and good cast, the Vala Meenukum song set to tunes by music director Sundar C babu and sung by Gana Ulaganathan was considered one of the major highlights that ensured the movie's success at the box office. Mysskin had thanked Sundar C Babu for his good work in the movie. However for his next to be produced by A M Rathinam featuring his son Ravikrishna, Mysskin had opted for Ilayaraja. Sources close to the director, say, 'He was a great admirer of Ilayaraja's work and more over the movie's storyline is different from the original. Myskkin feels that Raja alone can render justice to it'.
Chithiram Pesuthadi at IFFI
Director Mysskin's Chithiram Pesuthadi was screened at the ongoing IFFI at Goa. The movie featured Naren and Bhavana in the lead. The movie released early this year attracted very little crowd in the opening week. But in the second week the word of mouth publicity and rave reviews in the media brought in the crowds. Oscar Ravichandran bought the distribution rights. Also the song Valameenukkum sung by Gana Ulaganathan helped the movie's cause. Chithiram Pesuthadi is about a group of men working for a gangster, who reforms for a noble cause. The film was critically acclaimed by the media and won huge collections was screened at the panorama section of the IFFI on Sunday. Naren and Mysskin had been to Goa to participate in the function. It may be recalled that last year, Ameer's Ram was selected for screening at the panorama section.
Chithiram Pesudhadi to be remade
The blockbuster Tamil hit of 2006, Chithiram Pesudhadi is now going places. The movie which was directed by debutant Mysskin is now being remade in Kannada and Malayalam now. The Telugu version is being produced by Mohan Babu and features his son Manoj in the lead role. Yuvanshankar Raja would be scoring the music for the movie. Remember actress Sheela? She made her debut in Ilavattam opposite Navdeep. She dons the role enacted by Bhavana in the Tamil version. Surya Kiran (director of the Telugu superhit Sathyam and husband of actress Kaveri) is wielding the megaphone for the movie. Buzz is that director Mysskin was initially approached to do the movie in Telugu. However, he denied the offer.
Chithra sings for Santhosh Narayanan musical Dhanush's Kodi
Lyricist Vivek has always shared a very good rapport with Santhosh Narayanan and they have given successful numbers in films like Enakkul Oruvan, 36 Vayadhinile, Irudhi Suttru, Iraivi, Kabali and so on. The duo have joined together once again, this time for a song in Dhanush starrer Kodi. Ace singer Chithra has crooned her voice for this number. This is the first time Chithra is singing for Santhosh Narayanan and the song is said to be a soul-stirring one. Shakthi Chithambaram avoids Namitha
Director Shakthi Chithambaram, who has cast the sensational Namitha in all his films including his latest 'Sandai', has decided to avoid her in his forthcoming movies. What went wrong between the director and his favorite heroine? 'I have cast her in all my films. I thought this could be interpreted in a mischievous way by somebody and hence I decided to avoid her', says the director. The grapevine, however, has it that Namitha is quite unhappy with the manner in which her portions were handled in the movie. It is said that many scenes featuring the buxom babe were cut off from the movie and that had created displeasure to the girl. Namitha, who used to give a piece of her mind to the concerned person through SMS, has given vent to her feelings in the same manner. Shakthi, it is said, has reacted sharply by deciding not to cast Namitha in his films.
Chinnakuyil K S Chithra sings her first song for Dhanush in Kodi Arariro
