The World Cup cricket has kicked off in West Indies. The mega sporting event has attracted immense interest across the globe. Kollywood is no exception. A host of film personalities and directors, who are avid cricket-fans, have expressed their wish that the Indian cricket team led by Rahul Dravid goes on to win the World Cup. Says actor Jeeva, 'It is a gala time now. Unlimited cricket action will bring joy to cricket lovers.' 'I hope the Indian team which managed to reach the finals in the last edition would go on to win the cup this time. They have enough talent and self confidence. I am hopeful of the Indian team's victory,' he added. Echoing the same is Srikanth. The actor says, 'It is India's cup this time. The likes of Sachin Tendulkar and Sehwag will score heavily.' The up and coming Prasanna says, 'I have been following the sport since my childhood. My prayers are for India to snatch the World Cup. Though Australia looks the dangerous side to beat, India will manage to get success.'
Cricket crosses a boundary
Cricket cuts across language barrier. A movie with cricket background too is going to do that. Chennai-600028, the most refreshingly entertaining movie, is now getting to start a new innings in Telugu. The SPB Charan and J K Saravana produced and Venkat Prabhu-directed film is to be dubbed in Telugu as Kodithe Kottalira with the tagline Ee Kurranayalla Godavemito. Since the film is about the most universal of ideas, that of male bonding and camaraderie, and cricket, the essential spirit of the film needs no special translation. The idea of Chennai-28 is very generic and full of fun, and hence would be very appealing to the Telugu audience. The songs have been dubbed and are almost ready for release. The film is expected to release in July.

Comprising all essential ingredients to woo young audience, the movie, produced by S P B Charan and J K Saravana, has won appreciations from the masses and the who's who of Tamil filmdom as well. To celebrate the success, the movie crew are coming together to host a cricket tourney. Quite appropriate to the movie indeed. A mega cricket tourney is being organized at YMCA for four days in which 32 teams from in and around Chennai would take part. The tennis ball cricket tourney will be played under lights. The winner of the tourney will play with the Chennai 600028 team and would be given special prizes, awards and trophies.

They are 'Yaradi Nee Mohini' on (4 April), 'Nepali' (10 April), 'Santhosh Subramaniyam' (11 April), and 'Arai 305il Kadavul' (12 April). The Tamil film industry is playing it safe and trying to release the films a week before the IPL tournament. With international stars taking part in the IPL tournament, expectations are high that there would be huge turn out during the match days at the Chepauk Stadium and also many will be glued to their television sets to catch the excitement.
