More news →'D Day' is most challenging role for me: Shruti Haasan
Shruti Haasan says she could not let go of the opportunity to work in forthcoming movie "D Day" as it is the most challenging role for her so far. The 27-year-old, who was seen playing a simple girl in the recently released "Ramaiya Vastavaiya", is glad that she is part of the movie, which is helmed by Nikhil Advani. "When I was approached for this film, I couln't say no to it. It's the most challenging role so far. I am glad I am part of this film," Shruti said. Shruti, who made her Bollywood debut with 2009 movie "Luck", will be seen opposite actor Arjun Rampal. She insists that her role in the movie is not bold. "I won't say bold but it's a very sensual role and Arjun Rampal made me feel very comfortable. Arjun is a wonderful co-star to work with," she said. "D Day" also stars Rishi Kapoor, Huma Qureshi and Irrfan in prominent roles. It is slated for July 19 release.
D-Day' not an underworld saga: Nikhil Advani
D-Day" director Nikhil Advani asserts that his film is not a regular underworld or 'bhaigiri' film, but a serious espionage thriller based on the country's intelligence agency RAW and its operations. Actors Arjun Rampal, Irrfan and Huma Qureshi are playing RAW agents in the film. "There is no connection to the underworld. It is about terrorism, it is about bringing back India's most wanted man. It is an espionage thriller. All three of them and Aakash Dahiya, they are spies, they are RAW agents," said the director here at the music launch of the film Sunday. "There is no 'bhaigiri' in the film. It is about India, it is about four patriots," he added. The film is slated for a July 19 release and it stars Rishi Kapoor in the role of an antagonist. Shruti Haasan too features in it.
Nikhil Advani's 'D-Day' censored, gets U/A certificate
Nikhil Advani's "D Day", a film on cross-border terrorism, was passed by the Central Board Of Film Certification with a few dialogue cuts and an 'UA' certificate. Surprisingly, no cuts were ordered in verbal content regarding Pakistan, but Shruti Haasan's dialogues have been cut short. In the film, a bunch of RAW agents is assigned to bring a terrorist back to India from Pakistan. "I expected some objection to what could be considered inflammatory dialogues about Pakistan. But the censor board has not touched a single word pertaining to Pakistan," said Advani. What has gone are a few dialogues by Shruti, who plays a Pakistani prostitute. "These are lines where she does hardcore business bargaining with her clients. I was advised to get rid of these dialogues to obtain a 'UA' certificate. I happily took them off. My apprehensions were not about what Shruti's character has to say, but about the far more important dialogues on cross-border terrorism. I am happy to say the censor board didn't touch any of those," said Advani. The film also starring Rishi Kapoor, Irrfan, Arjun Rampal, and Huma Qureshi is coming out July 19.
Sensuality a key element in 'D-Day': Shruti Haasan
Shruti Haasan, who plays a prostitute in her upcoming release "D-Day", shot some bold scenes with Arjun Rampal for the film. She asserts that sensuality is a key element of her character, and says it hasn't been used just for titillation. Directed by Nikhil Advani, "D-Day" is an espionage thriller slated to release July 19. "I'm playing a prostitute in the film and sensuality is a key element. We've not done it for titillation or unnecessary scandalising. The character is like that," the 27-year-old actress said here in an interview. "If you do it in a wrong way, then the audience and actors both don't like it as the conviction is lost. It's very much integral to the character (in the film). As an actor, I feel we get to express all the emotions, and sensuality is a part of human emotion so its very important," she added. The film also features Irrfan, Rishi Kapoor and Huma Qureshi in key roles.
I’d like to write an autobiography some day – Sonam Kapoor
Sonam Kapoor, who is known for style statements, is a voracious reader and would like to pen down her autobiography some day. “You know I think I am too young and inexperienced and I don’t know if I have the talent to write, but you know everybody is narcissistic. I would like to write about my life one day or the other. I am an actor after all, but I don’t know if right now I will be able to,” the 26-year-old said here while launching the book “Two Mothers And Other Stories” by Khalid Mohamed. Known as a fashion icon, Sonam would not touch the topic she is most known for in her book. “Clothes and style is just my personal choice. It is not something I am obsessed with. May be romance,” said Sonam while talking about the issues she would want to touch upon in her book. Talking about how she learnt reading, she said: “I was being read to at a very young age by my mother. She would always read fables that had a meaning. She would always ask me what was the point behind the story,” said Sonam. “In the meantime, I was little annoyed with my mom… then she tried to make me more of a voracious reader… she would not finish the story and I used to get anxious to know the rest of it. So, I had no choice but to read it myself. So that’s how I started reading so much,” she added. Sonam will soon be seen in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s “Bhaag Milkha Bhaag” opposite Farhan Akhtar.
