Pongal bonanza - II

Here goes the second set of sneak previews in to the Pongal releases: 'Vaazhthugal' Seeman is a director with a distinction. His next venture 'Vaazthugal' promises an absorbing story revolving around a joint family and the family bondage. 'Vaazthugal', which also doesn't have any villain, shows you the pleasant love between Bhavana, studying in Kovai Agricultural Collage and Madhavan, a software engineer. Bhavana is a girl belonging to a big joint family. Please don't jump to the conclusion that this would be a story that puts love against family bondage. Being a man with social commitment, Seeman has a message for the society. He brings out the issues of family values and bondage. Seeman tries to focus on the issues lying beneath old age homes and appeals the younger generation to look after the elders with care and affection. A few celebrities make guest appearances in the film. Kanimozhi Karunanidhi, Rajya Sabha MP, has made a brief appearance in a scene while Panrutti MLA plays a small role. Prominent persons like Na. Muthusamy, the founder of Koothu-P-Pattarai and Trotsky Marudu, a famous artist also play important roles. Yuvan Shankar has given calm and pleasant tunes. Na. Muthukumar has penned some meaningful and beautiful lines. The film has used a poem penned by 'Paaventhar' Bharathidaasan. Seeman, the die hard Tamil lover, has ensured that the entire movie talks in Tamil. There no English through out the film. 'Vaazthugal' is another film with a positive message without any masala items to woo the audience. 'Pirivom Santhippom' Cheran and Sneha join hands after the successful 'Autograph'. Karu Pazhaniappan, who had earlier directed 'Chathurangam', 'Parthibhan Kanavu', and 'Sivappathigaram', is directing this film. The film has many 'no's to feel proud about. It has no villain, no fight, no vulgarity, no item number, no twist, and to top them all, there is no negative characters in the film. But, yes, it DOES have all the strength to entertain the audience. Life has its own complications and hence we don't need to tamper with the incidents to 'create' any twist in the tale, says Pazhaniappan. The innate complexities of the life making our lives complicated in a natural way. This, according to him, could make an interesting story. That is the crux of 'Pirivom Santhippom'. The movie also has a unique backdrop of a joint family belonging to Chettiyar community. The film beautifully captures a grand marriage of the community with all its cultural richness and nuances. You can expect a realistic and pleasant experience on celluloid.
