The competition between Prabhu Deva and Lawrence Raghavendra is proving to be interesting. Both Prabhu Deva and Lawrence started as dance assistants and then as one song dancers. While Prabhu Deva makes it as a hero-actor, Lawrence is just about making his mark as an actor. But as directors they are now on their own. Both chose Telugu to make a beginning. Prabhu Deva and Lawrence have tremendous respect for the talent of the other. Recently, Prabhu Deva tasted success as a director in Tamil through Pokkiri, Lawrence, on the other hand, is waiting for his moment under the sun through Muni. Elsewhere in Telugu too, they are almost on a similar plane. Prabhu Deva may get to direct megastar Chiranjeevi (Shankardada Zindabad) while Lawrence is to direct the other big star of Telugu Nagarjuna in Don. Similar growth trajectories for two dancers.
Richa is a dancer
Joining the list of actresses who have developed a passion for Bharatanatyam is Richa Pallod. Shobana, Sukanya, Radha and Swarnamalya have been performing Bharatanatyam in various stages. Now Richa Pallod, who underwent a course in Bharatanatyam, will be performing her arangetram soon in Chennai. The actress, who was a heroine in many Tamil and Telugu films could not establish a career as a heroine in filmdom and settled to character roles. She awaits the release of Something Something in which she plays Trisha's friend.
Aparna plays a dancer in Kaaviyam
Aparna is keen to establish herself in the industry. She has acted in Pudukottayilirundhu Saravanan, ABCD and Nenjil earlier, and she is optimistic that her day is not far in Kollywood. A busy entrepreneur, Aparna is now happy to have signed a film titled Kaaviyam. According to her, 'I play a classical dancer in the movie.' Buzz is that the movie is a classical music based subject like Sankarabharanam. Aparna plays a speech challenged girl, who excels in Bharathanatyam and she comes across a classical singer and falls in love with him. Says Aparna, 'My career will touch new heights once Kaaviyam is released. It has a different storyline and I have more scope to perform,' she adds.
Rajinikanth is a brilliant dancer
Dancing had not been Rajinikanth's forte till now. The 'Super Star of Tamil Cinema' had made a mark for himself with his style and elegance. However in Sivaji, Rajinikanth has come up with breathtaking dance movements, thanks mainly to choreographers Brinda, Larencce Ragava, Prabhu Deva and Raju Sundaram. 'It was wonderful to see Rajini dance. He dances like a 25-year old. Unlike the other big actor he rehearses on his own', said cinematographer K V Anand in an interview recently. 'Rajinikanth had reportedly rehearses on his own in the sets. His quick movements and his typical style in the songs are a delight to watch', say those involved in the making of Sivaji. 'His dedication to excel and come up with right movements cast a magic spell on the people around', they add. The movie has six sound tracks and sure Rajinikanth will floor one and all with his scintillating dance sequences in the songs. All the choreographers, who had worked with him in the film, were not just floored by his simplicity but his dedication to apply himself in spite of his grand stature in the industry.
Riteesh searching for a dancer
His name is well known among the poor and needy artists. J.K. Riteesh, the hero of 'Kaanal Neer', has done quite a many helps to so many artists within just four months of his entry into filmdom. He is now concentrating on his next movie 'Nayagan', which has an item song. He is said to have approached many leading actresses for dancing for a song with him. Namitha, doesn't dance with newcomers, is said to have declined the offer. This is despite the fact that both Riteesh and Namitha are good friends. Then Riteesh is believed to have approached Shreya, who had recently danced with Vadivelu. Riteesh, according to sources, offered an incredible amount. But, it is learnt that, the sensuous girl has turned down the offer. It is now said that Riteesh has sent feelers Malavika. Who will dance with this young man with a noble heart is yet to be known.
Kajal Aggarwal turns Item Dancer
Actress Kajal Aggarwal is now busy shooting for two big projects 'Thala57' and 'Khaidi No.150' - the Telugu remake of Vijay's superhit movie Kaththi.She has now turned item song dancer for Jr.NTR's Janatha Garage, which is set to release worldwide on 1st September. The exotic photos of Kajal Aggarwal dancing for the song, has already gone viral in the social media.Kajal wrapped up the shooting for this item song with her Temper hero recently. Apparently, Kajal was paid a whopping pay check as remuneration for the song.
