"Belly dancing has helped me cut down oodles of weight" - Masumeh
Masumeh is a multi-talented personality. Besides having thoroughly mastered the traditional Kathak dance from gurus like Roshan of Jaipur gharana, Viru Krishnan of Lucknow gharana and Sunaina Hazarilal from the Banaras gharana, the actress has been equally well versed with the dance art form of the West viz Salsa and other Latin American dances. "I have also mastered the art of Jazz and Tap dance and have been trained under the guidance of Oscar Fernendez," Masumeh says with a smile. Masumeh is currently mastering the art of belly dancing. She is taking lessons from Veronica Simas de Souza Rosa. Masumeh feels that belly dancing is the most sensuous and sexy form of dance art. Masumeh informs, "Belly dancing involved muscle movements and breathe control. I realized that unlike other forms of dance art that involve leg movements, belly dancing was more about muscle control especially around the hip, stomach and the chest. The subtle movements of the hips, stomach and chest make your muscles flexible. It also involves breathe control and is something very similar to pranayam. I would say belly dancing is a wonderful form of exercise too. In fact it has helped me cut down oodles of weight." Just when you think Masumeh would not have anything more to say, she grins and adds, "I am an ace at Karate, Sword fighting and Kickboxing too." Now didn't we just say that she was a multi-talented personality!
Vivah girl learns dancing
Dancing seems to be flavour this season. With shows like Nach Baliye and Jhalak Dikhla Jaa, almost half the television industry are on a dancing spree. News is that even 18 year old Amrita Prakash (she played Amrita Rao's cute younger sister in Sooraj Barjatya's 'Vivah' recently) also joined dancing classes to learn the stimulating Cha Cha Cha. Amrita who hates to work out in a gym thought this is one way to keep her body in check. And it's been just 10 days but she already hooked on to it. 'I love dancing, and Cha Cha Cha is just really exciting. I'm glad I joined these classes, now that am free and have some time on me,' she says. Amrita has earlier hosted shows like Fox Kids and Kya Masti Kya Dhoom. And she would like to host a dance show next.
Harman's source of dancing skills exposed
The eyes of the critics and film lovers are on the release of the film 'LoveStory 2050'. Well, this continuing media attention to the film is a direct result of the hype created by the makers and the promotional activities that have been going on for some time now. Harman Baweja has made it known that he is a little bit nervous before the release of the film and he said the same even while rehearsing for his stage performance with his lady love and heroine Priyanka Chopra for this year's IIFA at Bangkok. Poor Harman is now battling the media comparison of himself with the established actor and heartthrob Hrithik Roshan which is based on the resemblance of his face with that of Hrithik. With just a single dance performance, it is yet to decide whether Harman is also a good dancer like Hrithik. "Harman is a very dedicated dancer and has committed himself 100% to build up the dancing skills and achieve this kind of excellence". Sanjay Yadav is the man who said this and if you ask who this unfamiliar guy in the news is, the answer is- he is the man who was responsible and who is still in charge of teaching the new kid on block to shake his leg like a professional. Harman is not the only star who was under the tutelage of dance master Sanjay. Vivek Oberoi and Ranbir Kapoor had attended his classes before they gave the try to make it big in Bollywood. He did not become what he is now with ease. After coming to Mumbai from Nagpur, the guy had to struggle a lot before he got a chance to assist choreographer and singer Ganesh Hegde. Sanjay assisted Ganesh for more than two years and then ventured out of his own by staring a dance school called Neo Dance Class at Oshiwara in suburban Mumbai. Harman came to know about Sanjay through some of his friends and then decided to try out to polish his dancing skills under his guidance and now it has been more than two years since Sanjay started teaching dance to Harman. "He has always been a good dancer, but now he is exceptional". Harman can remember these words said by his master Sanjay to get strength if he ever feels low on confidence and gets nervous before a grand performance.
Tarun takes to dancing at weddings
We couldn't help wonder if Tarun was paid or it was just an impromptu performance by Tarun at the reception of S Gopal Reddy's daughter. There was a special programme by Devirsri Prasad and Prabhu Deva on the occasion. But it was Tarun too who appeared in the pictures dancing to Prabhu Deva's tunes. So will be the first Tollywood hero to dance at weddings? After all, their Bollywood counterparts are paid a bomb for their performances. Let's wait and watch.
I joked about dancing naked
Doesn’t anyone take a joke anymore,” asks Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan after his statement of dancing naked if his team Kolkata Knight Riders wins the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) was blown out of proportion by media. “Read in some paper that I can be taken to court for my dancing in the buff statement at IPL. When will people develop a sense of humour,” the actor posted on his Twitter page. “I just joked about dancing like that at IPL… obviously I won’t even if my team wins. Who does? Doesn’t anyone take a joke anymore… ha ha,” he added. The actor didn’t even hesitate from cracking another joke on the controversy. “…from now on I am also bathing with my clothes on, ha ha,” he said. Shah Rukh’s team presently ranks sixth in the eight-team IPL-3.
