Basavanna Will Not Have Gun - CR Manohar
Producer CR Manohar has promised to remove the 'pistol' from the posters of the film Basavanna. The film had run into controversy even before it began after the publicity still of the film in the first-look poster showed person in a yoga position with a gun besides him. Though the film is not based on the 12th Century social reformer, Basaveshwara, the title, Basavanna, is how people refer to him even now. Using a weapon besides the name of a person so well revered in Karnataka had upset many people. The producer of the film, CR Manohar, however has clarified that it was a mistake and the gun will be removed from the posters. Manohar said when the poster first came out he was not the producer. Recently he joined the team as producer. I don’t want these type of publicity and hurt the sentiments of any religion. The film is directed by Srinivas Raju who made the controversial Dandupalya before this.
