Director Ezhil began with a bang in Thullatha Manamum Thullum. He is now keen to bounce back with his Deepavali which stars Jeyam Ravi and Bhavana in lead roles. Young guns like Jeyam Ravi and Bhavana have given their best try'. On his part, Ravi said, 'I am a local guy who speaks the typical Madras language. A huge set put up by art director Selvakumar resembling Royapuram market is a major highlight of the movie. It is an interesting role for me, which I relish doing'. Deepavali would hit the screens early next year.

Deepavali Releases - Hours tick by
With just hours to go for the curtains to go up on the Deepavali releases, there is a palpable sense of anxiety and expectation in the air both amidst the fans as well as in the industry. This is one of the leanest (in terms of star value) yet biggest (in terms of number of important releases) Deepavali releases. Rajini, Kamal, Vijay and Vikram fans maybe disappointed that they have very little to cheer as their stars are conspicuous by their absence at the box office. But the general fans are of course not complaining. For they have seven big movies to choose from and all of them have been censored. Among them, Dharmapuri, E, Thalaimagan and Vattaram have walked away with a clean 'U' certificate. Varalaru, Vallavan, Vathiyar have got UA certificate. All the seven big releases, and two small ones, are carrying good reports. All of them have some kind of unique attraction.
Deepavali - Caught in mid-sea
Jeyam Ravi, Bhavana and the crew involved in the making of Deepavali had a close shave on Thursday when they ventured into deep sea to shoot for a scene at Royapuram. According to reports, director Ezhil along with his crew had been to the interior parts of the sea at Royapuram to shoot a scene featuring Jeyam Ravi and Bhavana for his Deepavali on Thursday morning. Unfortunately it rained so badly all throughout the day that the whole unit was struck in the sea waiting for the rains to settle down to return to the land. Caught in bad weather, the crew had to reach the shore only after battling the waves for over four hours. It may be recalled that the shooting of Deepavali resumed recently after Jeyam Ravi recovered from chickungunya. Now the shoot has been hampered by bad weather. Being produced by director Lingusamy, Deepavali is set for Pongal release.
Deepavali not in Pongal race
Jayam Ravi's Deepavali is not releasing this Pongal. The movie directed by Ezhil and produced by director Lingusamy was initially slated to grace theatres on Pongal. With many film releases expected this January, the producer has now opted to defer the release by a month. According to Ezhil, 'We have completed shooting the talkie portions and a couple of songs. Shooting for the movie was a pleasant experience. A stunt sequence was shot at Bangalore Highway and it was choreographed by Kanal Kannan. It has come out really well. Also the huge set which we erected near the Royapuram shore for the movie would be a real highlight.' The movie has five songs penned by Na Muthukumar, Kabilan and Yuga Bharathy. Composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, all the songs have come out really well. Apart from Jayam Ravi and Bhavana, Malayalam actor Lal and Vijayakumar portray powerful roles in the movie. 'It is a movie which would be cherished by film buffs irrespective of the age group,' says a confident Ezhil.
