Deepa Mehta has seen a lot of water flow through her life. She wished to take a comic breather between two serious films. She wished to make a comedy film. The lead actress may have been Kareena Kapoor. The film was about two Kushti groups and the rivalry between them. This rivalry is turned into friendship because of this girl Kalyani. Previously Deepa had made a comedy Hollywood Bollywood. This comedy is a breather between Water and Komagata Maru both of which are serious films requiring lot of hard work and emotions. She is waiting for Amitabh Bachchan to read the script and give her the dates for the shoot. Between this she will do a start to finish comedy about a Canadian couple. The film will be whacky and hilarious. Though she has decided on the script and the actors in the film, there is nothing that she reveals about the film.
Deepak Tijori:I make movies for the Box Office
I was not looking for three or four star rating for Tom, Dick and Harry. It's a plus film and the distributors and exhibitors have recovered their cost and the box office result is basic for me, says actor-turned-director Deepak Tijori whose supposed-to-be comic film Tom, Dick and Harry has been unilaterally panned by the critics as well as the audience. Even though the criticism has been severe, Tijori is trying hard not to look flustered. The Box Office verdict is still not out on Tom, Dick and Harry but it seems that it might add to his list of flop films as a director.Oops, Khamosh, Fareb and now Tom, Dick and Harry are different from each other. I am a two year old filmmaker, there are bound to be some teething problems. I am still learning my ropes. And I am absolutely happy with what I am doing, he justifies. Deepak Tijori started his innings as an actor with Mahesh Bhatt's Aashiqui. He followed it up with Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar, Kabhi Haan Kabhi Na and Vaastav. His dream of making it big as a solo hero never really took off but still he held his own against the likes of Aamir Khan, Shahrukh Khan and Sanjay Dutt. Any plans of stepping into his acting shoes once again? As an actor I've done all sorts of roles, but now is time for me to experiment with the filmmaker within me. I am looking forward to my next film Teen Tigda, Kaam Bigda.
Deepak Tijori strikes finally with Tom, Dick, Harry and Himesh
Finally it took four men to get Deepak Tijori an elusive hit, and each of them gave their all to make 'Tom Dick and Harry' a success. After a hat trick of flops in the form of 'Oops' [drama], 'Khamosh' [thriller] and 'Fareb' [drama], Tijori is now laughing along with the audience for his latest film that belongs to the comic genre. Himesh Reshammiya, Dino Morea, Jimmy Shergill and Anuj Sawhney made it possible for the medium budgeted 'Tom Dick and Harry' to comfortably sail through at the box office. Celina Jaitley and Kim Sharma indeed added to the glamour quotient but it was primarily the strength of his male leads [and composer/singer] that has brought a smile on Deepak Tijori's face. The movie is now en route to reap in profits based on the sheer strength of first week collections.
Deepak is a tycoon
You never know when fortune will knock on your doors. Deepak didn't know that it would in the form of Mani Rathnam. The young actor who had acted in films like Sampangi was enduring a quiet period after Johnny (he played a small role in that). But out of nowhere Mani Rathnam emerged with a tantalizing offer. And Deepak grabbed it with his both hands. The rest is waiting to be history. Deepak has got a pivotal role in Mani Rathnam's Hindi film Guru. The movie stars, among others, Abhishek Bachchan, Madhavan and Aishwarya Rai. The music is by A R Rehman. The story dwells on the life of a textile tycoon (Ambani?). It chronicles his life right from being a nobody to ending up as the country's biggest mover and shaker. Deepak is said to be playing the role of a rival tycoon (Bombay Dyeing's Nusli Wadia?).
