"DELHII HEIGHTS would be very successful overseas" - Anand Kumar
Rarely does one find a film maker who is so confident about his film from day one, even if it is his debut venture. Anand Kumar is one of them who surely believes that DELHII HEIGHTS is a kind of film that has immense potential to work with word of mouth, even if it takes a moderate beginning. "I am sure the film would eventually turn out to be a success", says the young man, "And mark my words, it won't be just in India but even overseas." And how come is he so confident about that? "See, one of the key highlights is it's music by Rabbi Shergill. He is quite an icon, especially when it comes to overseas. I have all the information that indicates that he is quite a popular name in US as well as UK. And in India, we all know about his popularity ever since the time 'Bulla Ki Jaana' became such a massive hit. The songs themselves would makes sure that the film finds its audience."
"Both DELHII HEIGHTS and ECKLL have beautiful tracks" - Neha Dhupia
Neha Dhupia is highly charged about the music of her forthcoming films DELHII HEIGHTS and EK CHALIS KI LAST LOCAL. Reason? It's not just the script and the roles that make her love her films and root for them, it is also the films' songs which make her excited. Prod her further and she says, "While we all can see the way 'Laaree Choote' [ECKLL] has caught on ever since the promotional video of the number was out, there are two more numbers that have really turned out to be too good. There is a song by newcomer Ankur called ''Bheegi Seeli Si'. He has sung, written and composed the number and done a phenomenal job with it. It is a nice romantic song that goes very well with the narrative." And which is the other one? "'Ekka Chauka'. Now that's the kind of number which you call a solid kick-ass track! It's quite a dark, haunting yet enjoyable track which would make you sit at the edge of your seat. Let me not say anything beyond that because you need to see it in the film and understand what I mean." How about the music of her coming Friday release DELHII HEIGHTS? "Oh it is so lovely, Rabbi has made such sweet compositions," she says fondly, "Normally when you play on a music CD, you select song no. 1, 3 and 6 and put them on a repeat mode. But in case of DELHII HEIGHTS it is just not possible to do that. Each of the songs has turned out to be so well, whether it is 'Kitni Der Tak', 'Dilli Bas', 'Holi' number or the others. But if you ask me, my personal favorite is 'Tere Bin'. What a number! Even though it appears in a montage and I am not lip synching there, it is a beautiful song to play on."
GURU editor snips DELHII HEIGHTS
After making GURU a crisp movie viewing experience, editor Sreekar Prasad is reported to have done a wonderful with his latest assignment DELHII HEIGHTS. Says Jimmy Sheirgill, lead actor of the film, "It was great to be working with this unit from down south as each of the people involved behind the screens has been such an accomplished technician. Now look at the editor of the film, Sreekar Prasad. He has done a fabulous job with the film and has made it a great viewing experience. Also it is commendable to see that someone who has edited films like DIL CHAHTA HAI, SAATHIYA, YUVA and GURU has now gone ahead and edited a film that belongs to a completely different genre." Directed by debutant Anand Kumar, DELHII HEIGHTS is a light hearted take on the upper middle class couples residing in the high rise apartments of Delhi and stars Jimmy Sheirgill, Neha Dhupia, Rohit Roy, Simone Singh, Om Puri and Kamini Khanna. The film is releasing all over on March 30th.
