More news →'Prem Ratan Dhan Payo' to release in Pakistan
His "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" turned out to be a major success story in Pakistan for its heart warming tale of a Hindu man helping a Muslim girl to reach her parents across the border. Now at a time when art and cinema have been dragged into the politics between both nations, Bollywood superstar Salman Khan's forthcoming family drama "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo" will also hit the screens in Pakistan on the same day as in India. The movie is scheduled to release a day after Diwali on November 12. A spokesperson of "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo" said: "'Prem Ratan Dhan Payo' celebrates togetherness in a family. We are happy that the film will be releasing in Pakistan and our neighbours will be able to enjoy the film." Salman had earlier told that he wanted the movie to cross borders. Now, he has all the reasons to be happy. The actor feels cinema is a "powerful medium", with the capability to usher in a change. He said: "The medium is really powerful. We can do a lot with this medium... This is our tool and a lot of people appreciate good cinema and good characters. Everyone watches movies and it has a huge impact on people's life, and on society. I think there is no format better than cinema". “Prem Ratan Dhan Payo” unfolds a new and royal chapter about love and family ties, painted on a 'larger than life' canvas with music and dance weaving a 'desi' fantastical story. The film also brings Salman together with Sooraj Barjatya after 16 years. The family drama also stars Sonam Kapoor, Anupam Kher and Neil Nitin Mukesh. Earlier, "Bajrangi Bhaijaan", a Kabir Khan directorial, garnered appreciation at the Pakistan box office. The film, which narrates the story of a Hindu man on a mission to take a young Pakistani girl, who is dumb, back to her country and chronicles the adventures and experiences he has during his road trip, was released in India and Pakistan in July this year.
'Prem Ratan Dhan Payo' to have one mega webisode
Post the success of the Salman Khan starrer 'Prem Ratan Dhan Payo', makers of the film are all set to make a webisode (an original episode derived from a television series) showing the making of the family entertainer. The greatest moments from the 21 webisodes showing the making of the film are being combined into one mega webisode titled 'Memoirs of Prem Ratan Dhan Payo'. When filmmaker Vidhi Kasliwal was entrusted with the making of the film by Rajshri Productions, she had a unique concept for it in mind. "From the time Sooraj ji decided to make his next film, I knew I wanted to be a part of it. We shot day and night and captured very interesting footage. The icing on the cake was that he was working with the one and only Salman Khan again!" Vidhi said. "My team canned over 250 hours of footage from which I was very keen to produce and direct the digital assets. So what started as a 10-webisode series increased to 21 webisodes, as the response to each asset was phenomenal!" she added. The mega webisode will see Salman, Sonam Kapoor, Anupam Kher and other actors along with the entire unit of the movie discuss and share their thoughts on the title and the bond between the 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' actor and Salman and director Sooraj Barjatya that began with 'Maine Pyar Kiya' 25 years ago. Incidentally, a feature-length documentary on the making of 'Prem Ratan Dhan Payo', also by Vidhi, is expected to release this year.
Salman Khan's 'Prem Ratan Dhan Payo' remains biggest opener till date
Salman Khan-starrer Sultan, which hit screens on the eve of Eid, has minted R36.54 crore at the box office on the opening day. While these numbers are the best for any Bollywood release this year, they fell short of the first day collections of the star’s last release, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (Rs 40.35 crore). With a screen count of 4,350, the wrestling drama was expected to cross the R40-crore mark yesterday. Theatres across the country had registered 90 to 100 per cent occupancy. However, with Eid arriving a day late, the business was marginally hit. Trade pundits are optimistic that the Ali Abbas Zafar-directed film will gross R150 crore by this weekend. Komal Nahta labelled the figures “excellent” while saying that the impact in Muslim centres had been weak. Taran Adarsh said, “After a lingering lull at the box office, Sultan has come as a huge relief to the industry. It is doing extraordinarily well.”
'Dilwale' trailer to release with Salman's 'Prem Ratan Dhan Payo'
It will be a double bonanza for movie goers this Diwali! The trailer of “Dilwale”-- which brings one of Bollywood's most romantic onscreen couples Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol back on the silver screen - will be attached with Salman Khan's film “Prem Ratan Dhan Payo”, which is slated to release on November 12. Being directed by Rohit Shetty, “Dilwale” is being shot in its last schedule in Hyderabad and will hit the screens December 18. Gaurav Verma, chief revenue officer, Red Chillies Entertainments (RCE), is grateful to Salman and Rajshri Productions' for the gesture. “RCE would like to sincerely thank Salman and Rajshri Productions for this wonderful gesture,” Verma said in a statement. SRK and Salman are known for their bittersweet bond off-screen, but on the big screen, they have shared the frame in films like "Karan Arjun", "Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam" and "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai". Over some time now, it seems they are writing a new chapter of healthy competition in Bollywood as Shah Rukh unveiled the first look of “Bajrangi Bhaijaan”, and Salman has maintained that there will be 'double dhamal' with his "Sultan" and Shah Rukh's "Raees" releasing on Eid in 2016. And by attaching Shah Rukh's trailer with his film, Salman just reinforced his notion. Produced by Red Chillies Entertainments in association with Rohit Shetty Productions, “Dilwale” is a family entertainer also starring young actor Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon. Meanwhile, Salman will be returning in an innocent avatar as Prem - an onscreen name he has taken on several times in the past - with “Prem Ratan Dhan Payo", which also stars Sonam Kapoor. It also brings together Bollywood's once indomitable team of Salman Khan and Sooraj Barjatya after 16 years.
'Bajrangi Bhaijaan', 'Prem Ratan Dhan Payo' will bring back my innocence: Salman
After showcasing his “Dabangg” avatar and going rogue in “Ek Tha Tiger”, superstar Salman Khan says he is on a mission to search for his “innocence and sincerity” through his next two release -- “Bajrangi Bhaijaan” and “Prem Ratan Dhan Payo”. “I didn’t prepare for the film (‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’) at all... This movie needed sincerity and innocence which I had lost somewhere. So, I have tried to bring back my sincerity and innocence with both my films -- ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ and ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’,” Salman told reporters during a promotional visit for “Bajrangi Bhaijaan” here on Tuesday. Along with Salman, director Kabir Khan, actors Kareena Kapoor Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, singers Mika Singh, Adnan Sami, Jubin Nautiyal and Amar Butala, CEO of Salman Khan Films were also present at the press conference. The actor has entertained film-goers by channeling rough and brawny characters on the silver screen through a slew of films be it “Wanted’, “Dabangg”, “Ek Tha Tiger” or “Kick”. “Bajrangi Bhaijaan” also runs high on action and emotional quotient. It is a story about a man discovering love during a journey from India to Pakistan as he takes a dumb and mute girl back to her country. The film will hit the screens on Friday. Salman is also caught up with Sooraj Barjatya’s family entertainer "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo", which stars Sonam Kapoor. The actor will be seen revisiting his popular cinema name 'Prem' in the film, which is special for many reasons. It also marks Salman's return to a Barjatya film after 15 years -- after the 1999 movie "Hum Saath-Saath Hain".
Nitin Mukesh excited to see son Neil in 'Prem Ratan Dhan Payo'
Playback singer Nitin Mukesh, who is the father of actor Neil Nitin Mukesh, says he is excited about Neil's forthcoming film "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo", which also stars Salman Khan. "I was always very sure that Neil is a fantastic artist and whenever he will join the showbiz industry he will do fantastic job. So far he has worked with top most directors and stars, but now he is working with our most favourite actor Salman Khan and favourite director Sooraj R. Barjatya," Nitin Mukesh said during the Ganesha Utsav celebration at his home here. "We are so happy and excited for the film," he added. "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo", directed by Sooraj R. Barjatya, marks the reunion of Salman and Barjatya after after almost sixteen years. The film also stars Sonam Kapoor and Swara Bhaskar in key roles.
