A lot was expected from music-composer Dheena after a big hit Manmadharasa. The man known for his peppy tunes, has managed to come up with a chartbusters in Kokki. Not just the songs, but his background score also has come in for appreciation. Director A X Solomon, actor Karan and lay fans have also appreciated the work of Dheena. Says Dheena, 'All credit should go to the director. He gave me enough opportunity and help me improvise my work. We were keen on coming out with different sounds and thankfully, we achieved our mission'. Dheena now has over half-a-dozen offers in his kitty including few big ventures. The future looks bright and confident for me, he says.
Dheena, keen to repeat the magic
Music director Dheena teamed up with director Subramaniam Siva to render a musical hit in Thiruda Thirudi, a couple of years ago. The 'manmadharasa' in Thiruda Thirudi became an anthem then. Now the two are together again for Pori. The movie features Jeeva and Pooja in the lead roles. Dheena has come up with six peppy tunes for the movie with lyrics by Yugabharathy. Says Dheena, "The music in Pori would certainly repeat the magic of Thiruda Thirudi. Subramaniam Siva is a bundle of energy and got the best from me. No doubt the songs in Pori would top the audio charts." The audio would be released at Sathyam Cinemas in Chennai on Wednesday morning. Jeeva, after back-to-back success in Ram, Dishoom and E, is hopeful that Pori too would make it big and bring him stardom. The movie revolves around Hari (Jeeva), who feels that there is nothing wrong in telling lies for a good cause but Uma (Pooja) thinks one should not lie even to his own life. An ardent follower of Social reformist E V R Periyar, Jeeva runs a bookshop. When these two people of different attitude and thoughts meet, what happens forms the story.

The success of Karuppasamy Kuthagaitharar has come at the right time for me. I thank director Murthy and Karan for it'. Dheena and Karan had earlier teamed up for Kokki and it was also a grand success. He says, 'I share a good rapport with Karan. Thank Almighty, both our ventures have been hits. Hopefully we will continue in the same vein'.
Smiles back on Dheena
Dheena is a happy man these days. His tunes in Kannum Kannum and Pori have become popular among the music-lovers. 'It's a perfect beginning for me this year. After Kokki in 2006, I was waiting for right projects. Now Pori and Kannum Kannum have helped me establish myself in a strong position in the industry.' It's double delight for Dheena. He did the background score for the Telugu movie Annavaram (a remake of Tamil hit Tirupachi). He has won enough appreciation for his work in Annavaram. A thrilled Dheena says, 'People are appreciative of my work. Hopefully, I would continue the good work. A couple of offers from Telugu films are also in the pipeline.' Dheena has sung a song along with actor Jeeva and director Subramaniam Siva in Pori, which he hopes would repeat the magic of Manmadharasa.
