'Ettappan' renamed as 'Aval Ullaththai'
'Ettappan', Srikanth's supposedly comeback movie, is renamed as 'Aval Ullaththai'. The change is caused by the objection raised by the people of Etayapuram, where the historical figure Ettappan lived in 18th century. Ettappan, the Zameendar of Ilasanadu (later known as Ettayapuram), is considered by some historians as the one who betrayed Kattabomman, the rebel Chieftain of Panchalankurichi. It is said that he gave the vital information to the Britishers to capture Kattabomman. The Ettayapuram people, however, feel that the theory that Ettappan was a traitor is incorrect and hence they feel hurt to hear such stories in any form. Though Srikanth's movie is not a historical flick, some of the people from Ettayapuram objected the usage, which has of late become derogatory. The makers of the movie has decided to respect the feelings of the people and hence changed the title as 'Aval Ullaththai'. The movie, directed by Maheshwaran, has Srikanth and Navya Nair in the lead roles. While Srikanth plays a rowdy, Navya plays the role of a Brahmin girl in the film, which will be shot in and around Chennai and Ooty. 'Aval Ullaththai' is a remake of Kannada movie Buddhivantha, featuring Kananda top hero Upendra in the lead role. The story is said to be revolving around a man who has a lot of negative shades in his character.
Srikanth goes for a remake
Gone are the days when our actors and directors remade movies of neighboring States, after witnessing their performances in box offices. According to sources, Ettappan, the new film of Srikanth is a remake of Kannada movie Buddhivantha, which is currently on floors. It is said that Buddhivantha, which has Kananda hero Upendra in the lead role is a story of a protagonist with lot of negative shades. Grapevine is that Upendra is acting in dual roles in the movie, both as hero and villain. Apparently impressed by the storyline, Srikanth who wants to reposition himself with a mega hit as this is his first film after wedding is keen on doing the movie. Directed by Maheshwaran, Ettappan has Navya Nair in female lead.
