More news →DHOL postponed, Priyan v/s Nadiadwala clash averted
Till around a week back, it had appeared that Priyadarshan and Firoz Nadiadwala would have a clash yet again after CHUP CHUP KE and PHIR HERA PHERI. Their films DHOL and FOOL N FINAL were all set to arrive on June 01 and the stage was set for yet another deadly multi-starrer clash. Well, the clash has been averted as DHOL has moved ahead by 3 weeks and is now aiming for a June 22 release. Ever since Nadiadwala announced June 01 as the release date of FOOL N FINAL, its publicity is on full swing with the song promos being on whereas both the print and web media have been agog with news bytes about the film. Meanwhile there is absolutely no news around DHOL except for some mention in the trade magazine. Nevertheless, now it would be interesting to see if DHOL indeed arrives on June 22 as a week before comes Yash Raj Films' JHOOM BARAABAR JHOOM whereas a week later there are as many as 5 biggies slated for release - AAP KA SURROOR - THE MOVIEE, APNE, AWAARAPAN, CASH and KAAFILA! While DHOL stars Tusshar Kapoor, Sharman Joshi, Kunal Khemu and Tanushree Datta in the lead along with Rajpal Yadav, Om Puri, Payal Rohatgi, Arbaaz Khan and Murli Sharma, FOOL N FINAL is even huge with Sunny Deol, Shahid Kapoor, Sunil Shetty, Vivek Oberoi, Jackie Shroff, Ayesha Takia, Bipasha Basu and Sameera Reddy in lead along with Javed Jaffrey, Paresh Rawal, Om Puri, Rajpal Yadav, Vijay Raaz, Razzak Khan, Arbaaz Khan and Zakir Hussain.
Dhol is my first movie with director Priyadarshan- Payal Rohtagi
Actress Payal Rohtagi was in Delhi at Hotel Intercontinental recently for her upcoming movie Dhol. After winning Femina Miss India contest in the year 2000 Payal Rohtagi entered film Industry. Basically Payal is a computer engineer though she got attracted to the glamour world after winner Miss India Pageant. She is very much excited about her upcoming movie 'Dhol' and said that she is playing second lead role in the movie under the direction of Priyadarshan, it was a great experience to work with him. It was a very good experience to work with people like Shamran Joshi, Tusshar Kapoor, Kunal Khemu, Tanushree Dutta and Rajpal Yadav in this film. The work which brought out of us on sets by director Priyadarshan, and I can say that this movie is going to be a mile stone in my film career. This will be out in Cinema Halls by June. She started getting offers from directors, when she appeared in the Mahesh Manjrekar's video album 'Humko Pura Yakeen Hai'. After this she never saw a dip in her career graph. Payal Rohtagi has worked with renowned directors of Film Industry. She appeared in movies like 'Ye Kya Ho Raha Hai', 'Plan', 'Rakht' and 'Corporate' apart from these she also appeared in Show Man Subhash Ghai's film '36 China Town'. Actually she started her career with ad films. She did endorsements for Bajaj, N.C, Britaniya, Nescafe, Jagwar, Dabar with cricketer Sehwag, and she also accompanied with Super Star Amitabh Bachachan in an ad of Cadbury Temptation.
DHOL has my best written plot - Priyadarshan
Film maker Priyadarshan is highly confident about his soon to be released DHOL. And why shouldn't he be? After all he is the most successful director today when it comes to comic genre and is undoubtedly the busiest film maker in the town today. His DHOL is looking at a September release and as is the case with all his films, the promos of this comic entertainer too have caught one's eyes. In fact Priyadarshan has gone on record to state that this is his best written plot till date. The film is about three young boys, Tusshar Kapoor, Sharman Joshi, Kunal Khemu along with one not-so-young -boy Rajpal Yadav who are good for nothing in real life. Their only hope of being successful in life is to get married to a rich girl. Tanushree Dutta is the one they soon start running after and soon the entire plot develops in lines and lies that the four guys speak to win her over!
Rahul Dholakia, Pradeep Sarkar facilitated by IFTDA
The Indian Film and Television Directors Association (IFTDA) felicitated Shri Shakti Samanta, Shri Lekh Tandon and BP Singh with the IFTDA Lifetime Achievement award yesterday at a star studded award ceremony at Bhavan's college ground, Andheri West. IFTDA also honored National Award winners such as Rahul Dholakia for Parzania, Pradeep Sarkar for Parineeta, Shujminder Dhanjal for Punjabi film Bagi, Anand Ghatraj for Bhojpuri film, Nishikant Kamat for Marathi film Dombivali Fast and many more. Special guests present included Sharmila Tagore, Shatrughan Sinha, Jagdeep, Gulzar, Raman Kumar, Deepti Naval, Aseem Samanta, Ashok Pandit, Vinod Pandey, Dharmesh Tiwari and many other prominent film personalities. This was definitely a grand affair celebrating the best of the Indian cinema!
Rahul Dholakia Wins Ramnath Goenka Memorial Award
Rahul Dholakia of "Parzania" fame has won the coveted Ramnath Goenka Memorial Award at the Screen awards held recently. It's a special award that recognizes excellence in cinema to a filmmaker who dares to make a difference in society with his work. It is an extremely prestigious award as Ramnath Goenka, one of the pioneers in journalism was a man who defied all odds to make his statement and fight for justice, and this award is a tribute to his spirit. Rahul Dholakia had directed and produced this ground breaking film starring Naseeruddin shah, Sarika and Emmy award winner Corin Nemic based on the Gujarat riots.
Tanushree Dutta gathers SPEED while playing DHOL
Tanushree Dutta has been having an eventful year so far. After RISK (January 2007), GOOD BOY BAD BOY (May 2007) and RAQEEB (May 2007), she would be having two more of her films arriving in back to back weeks this September. First to come would be Priyadarshan's high profile project DHOL which is a comic thriller. Releasing on 21st September, the film is carrying good reports and is said to be a laugh-a-minute riot. A week later, i.e. on 28th September, her two-years-in-the-making SPEED would be releasing too which is directed by Vikram Bhatt. A Harry Baweja production based on Hollywood thriller CELLULAR, SPEED has Tanushree playing Zayed Khan's love interest in the film. She has also been in the news recently for signing a children's film where she is required to play a character on the lines of Lara Croft from THE TOMB RAIDERS series. As a preparation for her role, she is also learning martial arts.
