Dhoom 2 upstages Don

Showbiz is like Politics. No permanent friends or enemies. Shahrukh Khan is realizing exactly the same at this very moment. Apparently Yash Chopra and son Aditya Chopra are taking their animosity with Shah to a different level. Two of the biggest Diwali releases this year will be Yash Raj's 'Dhoom 2' and Shahrukh's 'Don'. All the exhibitors of 'Krrish' (Yash Raj Films is distributing Hrithik's super duper saga) have been verbally booked for 'Dhoom 2' and this leaves very few exhibitors for 'Don'. And in the bargain, the fate of King Khan's big ticket will be affected badly. The feud between the two parties started when Shahrukh asked for his market price from Yash Raj Films. The ten year association started turning sour as Aditya Chopra had learned by now that he could make successful films even without Shahrukh. Aamir Khan was signed at his market price for 'Fanaa' which incensed Shahrukh. His favorite leading lady Kajol was signed opposite Aamir, upsetting King Khan even further. After being chucked out from Shimit Amin's film produced by Yash Raj Films in favor of Salman Khan, Shahrukh was at a loss of words. The schemer that he is, he just wormed his way back by easing out Salman from Shimit's film. No wonder Salman is upset with him. It seems Yash and Aditya Chopra are in a mood to teach a lesson to all the big and small stars of Bollywood. That if they can do it to the biggest of them all, then they can do it with anyone. So beware! MusicMazaa will keep a close watch on the Diwali fireworks and keep you updated about the same.

Dhoom 2 and Vivah available on MP3

Guess how are music companies working together to combat music piracy and decreasing sales of music albums? By coming up with original MP3s of the latest albums along with the regular music CDs. The latest to add the list are the MP3s of 'Dhoom 2' and 'Vivah' that have really set the sales rolling for the two films. Marked at half the regular price of an original music CD and comprising of 40-50 songs at an average, they are a double delight for the listener since they come with numerous other hits from the production houses. While 'Vivah' boasts of dozens of other Rajshri hits apart from the songs of 'Vivah', 'Dhoom 2' enhances the bouqet by including songs from YRF hits like 'Bunty Aur Babli', 'Salaam Namaste', 'Veer Zaara', 'Neal N Nikki' and many more. A few weeks back 'Dance Masti Forever' too came in a MP3 version and has been a big hit since then. One just hopes that the trend continues with many more forthcoming albums too.

Dhoom 2 Advance Booking is a Record

'The entire weekend for 'Dhoom 2'was sold out on Tuesday itself. Only five tickets are left for a Sunday eleven o clock night show which I plan to watch with my friends,' says Shonali Shrofff of Fame Group of Multiplexes. 'It is undoubtedly the biggest advance booking of the year,' she added. The recent trend of advance booking starting on the Sunday instead of Wednesday has seen an unprecedented response in case of big films like 'Fanaa', 'Krrish', 'Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna' and 'Don'. But if Shonali Shroff is to be believed then 'Dhoom 2' has broken all earlier records. Girish S Wankhede, Manager Public Relations for Cinemax Group of Multiplexes emphatically states that all shows are totally house full. 'The advance booking is tremendous,' he says. Devang Sampat, GM, Marketing and Sales, Cinemax says that the reason for such opening is the trust people have in 'Mr Perfectionist' Aditya Chopra. 'Moreover the starcast is such that it can't get bigger than this,' he added. Yashraj Films had started the trend with 'Fanaa' of getting a higher chunk of the ticket sales figures from the multiplexes. Vinod Chopra successfully adapted the same module with 'Lage Raho Munnabhai'. There have been rumours that Yashraj Films once again tried to get a bigger share of the pie from the multplexes before the release of 'Dhoom 2' but it hasn't been verified as no one is willing to talk. This correspondent had spoken to Shonali Shroff of Fame Multiplexes a day before 'Fanaa' was about to be released. She had said then that Fame is still not sure about releasing 'Fanaa' due to the prevailing uncertainty on revenue sharing. But on being asked today if a similar situation arose with 'Dhoom 2' she was prompt in saying, 'We have very good relations with Yashraj Films. There's no problem at all.' 'Dhoom 2' is also setting another record in terms of number of screens showing the same film in a particular multiplex. You can imagine how big a release it is by the following numbers: Fame Adlabs, Andheri: 18 shows per day Fame Malad: 21 shows per day Fame Kandivali: 14 shows per day Cinemax, Versova: 20 shows Cinemax, Sion: 8 shows Cinemax Kandivali: 12 shows Cinemax Mira Road: 9 shows Cinemax Wondermall, Thane: 12 shows Cinemax Eternity Mall: 13 shows Cinemax, Andheri single screen: 4 shows Cinemax Nasik: 9 shows In a year that has seen huge money spinners like 'Lage Raho Munnabhai', 'Krrish', 'Fanaa' and 'Rang De Basanti', there's every possibility that 'Dhoom 2' shall be the icing on the cake of a great year for the Hindi Film Industry. Stay tuned to Musicmazaa for the 'Dhoom 2' review first thing tomorrow and a video of the public opinion this weekend.

Dhoom:2 music on superior DVD-Audio format

Basking in the glory of a wonderful public and critical response, Yashraj Music released the music of 'Dhoom 2' in the DVD-Audio format. This format brings to listeners the very best listening experience possible. All the tracks have been specially mastered in London in 5.1 Surround Sound and audiophiles can actually choose from the audio menu the format they want to hear the songs in. The album makes full use of the DVD-Audio format in other ways as well. The lyrics can be viewed on-screen as the music is playing, thus enabling Karaoke sing-along. The theatrical trailer of the movie is also available on the DVD, as well as a credits page that can be viewed optionally. And last, but not the least, four additional hit tracks, Chand Sifarish (Fanaa), Kajra Re (Bunty aur Babli), Salaam Namaste (Salaam Namaste) and Halla Re (Neal 'n' Nikki) as a bonus, the lyrics for which are also available on screen. Rounding up the fabulous package is a gallery of pictures from the movies, as an optional feature.

'Dhoom 2' to reap benefits over 4 open weeks

It's a case of getting the timing right....in fact perfectly right! 'Dhoom 2' has released without any competition whatsoever with hardly hamrful releases last week [Janani, Rehguzar, Unns] and the coming week [With Luv...Tumhaara]. This makes it 2 weeks of clean run to make maximum profits. But this is not all as a week later comes 'Baabul' which is a sole big release with only 'Anwar' as the other release which should hardly create any problems. With 'Babul' getting its own fair share of screen space, D2 would have third week in succession to benefit from. Later on December 15th, Yash Raj Films' own 'Kabul Express' releases and that itself is a strategic move since they can easily juggle around shows to keep both D2 and 'Kabul Express' in business. Other release of the week could be Big B's long pending 'Zamaanat' but many would be surprised to know that it is YRF again which is distributing the film and hence D2 stays clear of any danger whatsoever. The only major competition comes in the form of 'Bhagam Bhag' that arrives exactly 4 weeks from now i.e. December 22nd. Later on December 29th if 'I See You' indeed comes in then D2 may just about have to contend with it otherwise one may even consider 6 comfortable weeks in the running for D2 with only 'Babul' and 'Bhagam Bhag' as the competition. Looking at such lineup of minimal releases over the next few weeks coupled with an excellent start that D2 has taken all over, it won't be a surprise to see the film embarking on a HUGE total in its theatrical run. Stay tuned as we bring you more information on the film's BO progress!

Dhoom 2 VCDs release on multiple languages

After boasting of as much as 85 crores at the box office and still counting, VCDs of Yash Raj Films' biggest blockbuster ever - DHOOM 2 - are out now on stands. What makes the release special is that the film not just arrives in Hindi but also in Tamil and Telugu versions. DVDs of the film are also expected to hit the stands in a few weeks from now. While the film has done tremendous business at the cinemas, it is bound to create 'dhoom' all over even in its home video version. With YRF holding the rights for this medium too, it is indeed bonanza time for country's biggest film making house.
