Now Eesha Koppikhar returns with Ram Gopal Varma's SHABRI

Everyone talks about getting into the skin of the character to get a more realistic performance. Eesha Koppikhar takes the involvement to the next level in that case! For Ram Gopal Varma's Shabri, it wasn't just the look that Eesha worked on. During the shoots of the film Eesha got so involved that she did things in real life which nobody can think of. Let's begin with her look. To look like a slum girl, Eesha didn't wax her body, didn't pluck eyebrows, didn't use any beauty products and, in fact, did not even comb her hair! On one incident, RGV production was shooting in a slum area of Mumbai and during the evening snacks break, when a spot boy brought snacks for Eesha, unmindfully, instead of going to her make-up van to eat, she sat near a dustbin to eat like a street beggars! She didn't realize that next to her was a dumping ground. It was only when her make-up boy came and said "Didi, aap yaahan kyun baithi hain? Make up van mein chaliye," that she realized where she was sitting. "I was so engrossed in my character that I didn't even realize what I was doing. If my make-up boy hadn't made me realize that I was sitting beside a dustbin I would have had my snacks there," says Eesha. It is also heard that it took a couple of hours to put make-up on her body and face. She even lost weight and changed her walking style also. Of course it got too much for her and after the shooting; Eesha fell sick and was on complete bed rest.

Esha's fascination with being in limelight

One look at some of Esha's past, present and future releases and you are sure that she is one lady who wants to be in the limelight while facing the camera. Though her 'behenji' act in 'No Entry' was an exception, in her next release 'Shaadi No.1' she played an aspiring actress who doesn't want to miss a moment of the glamour world. Her this week's release 'Pyaare Mohan' too features her as a glamour queen who hardly cares for the love of her blind suitor [Fardeen Khan] till love comes calling. Coming soon is one of her most challenging films 'Ankahee' where she tops the ladder by appearing as none other than the Miss World herself. Yet another instance where she enacts the role of a female who cannot shy away from the limelight! Coincidence or a conscious choice?

Esha in many films

Esha Deol has many films up her sleeves currently. Starting her career in Koi Mere Dil Se Poochche she's now all decked up with Pyare Mohan and Ankahee that will release in May. Esha is playing the role of Miss Universe in love with a married man in Ankahee, for which she is said to have put in a lot of effort. She is also in Anubhav Sinha's Cash which is an action film and Reema Kagti's Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd. Hema Malini is directing a film and Esha will be in the lead role in it.

Esha : Thoda action, thoda emotion

Esha Deol will surprise her fans with some breath-taking stunts in her forthcoming film. Director Anubhav Sinha's movie 'Cash' has Esha doing many action sequences. The actress refused to use a duplicate and insisted on doing her own stunts. Though Esha is not allowed to reveal much about her role in the film, she does spill a few beans. She will be seen delivering high-flying kicks and doing a high-speed car chase. Even though she is adept in driving, Esha had to undergo training under an expert in Cape Town, South Africa, before shooting her action scenes. Esha says she likes action movies like 'Kill Bill' and wishes Bollywood would make more girlie action flicks. Apart from action, she is also showing a new facet of hers as she is being recognised as a switch-off-switch-on actor. They used to say Sridevi was a very shy and quiet person until put before the camera, when all of a sudden she'd undergo a complete transformation of sorts and light up all the moments. Amongst the new breed of actresses, we hardly have many like her, except for a Kajol or Rani Mukherji. But now here comes Esha, which Bollywood can proudly add in the 'switch-on switch-off acting' league of performers. Ever since Esha started shooting for Ram Gopal Verma's 'Darling', the moment the camera rolls, she so effortlessly and spontaneously blends with her character, that everyone around is transported in a different world. And as the director shouts cut, Esha suddenly becomes Esha; the carefree innocent happy-go-lucky girl that she is. Bollywood surely needs more of her kind.

Esha Deol wants to be a runaway bride

Bollywood actress Esha Deol, looking beautiful in designer Rocky S’ bridal lehenga-choli, said walking down the aisle in any designer’s collection is a far fetched dream for her as of now. Asked when she would be walking down the aisle, instead of the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WIFW) ramp in Rocky’s creation, Esha laughed, and said: “Well! I would rather be a runaway bride”. The young actress matched steps with her evergreen mother, veteran actress Hema Malini, who was the cynosure of all eyes at the closing show on the third day of WIFW. While Esha sported a splendid maroon and green, heavily embroidered lehenga-choli, Hema stole the limelight with her grace in a similar coloured sari teamed with an embroidered burnt orange coloured blouse. “It was wonderful walking the ramp. Rocky has given me a beautiful sari to wear. It has a wonderful combination and it was very nice walking with Esha,” Hema told reporters. Esha, who did not look even a wee bit nervous while walking the ramp with Bollywood’s ‘dreamgirl’,said: “This isn’t the first time that we are on the runway together. But I am thankful to Rocky for having given us such lovely outfits to wear.” “I was a little nervous walking in this heavy ghagra, but thankfully I had my mother to hold onto,” she added. Rocky, who is among Bollywood’s favourite designers, didn’t have to think twice before judging who among the mother-daughter duo looked best. “Definitely Hema Ma’am!” he said, and added: “Esha is my friend but I’ll take Ma’am’s side.” When Esha made a sad face to that, Rocky was quick to add: “Actually, both of them look gorgeous.” Rocky’s collection was a sellout among the audience for his use of bright colours and eclectic combinations like blue, red, teal, pink, peach, burgundy, green with a heavy use of borders, motifs and tassles. The outfits were primarily suits, saris and lehengas in silk, georgette and brocade.

Esha Deol turns editor for ‘Tell Me Oh Khuda’

Esha Deol is not just the leading lady of her mother Hema Malini’s production venture “Tell Me Oh Khuda”. She is also the assistant director, her mother’s chief technical adviser and editor. “I’ve learnt plenty on the technical side of filmmaking during ‘Tell Me Oh Khuda’. But it’s a bit early for me to change lanes,” said Esha. While Hema confirms that Esha is involved with the film’s editing, the youngster said: “I’m helping mom out. Yeah, I am sitting on the editing. Throughout ‘Tell Me Oh Khuda’ I was an assistant. I’ve learnt so much from behind the camera. Now I’m learning how to edit. So this film has been a perfect training ground for me.” Esha doesn’t rule out the possibility of direction. “I know I can direct a film anytime,” said th 29-year-old who made her debut in 2002 with “Koi Mere Dil Se Pooche”. In her eight year long career she did over 25 films and some of the hits that she featured in are “Dhoom”, “Yuva” and “No Entry”.
