Venkat Prabhu, son of Gangai Amaran, has donned the hat of director for a new movie titled 'Chennai 600028'. Speaking about the film, 'The story is confined to the happenings in Mandaveli and R A Puram. A resident of those areas since my childhood inspired me to settle for that title. It got the endorsement of S P Charan and J K Saravana, two of my good friends, who took an instant liking for the script.' Interestingly, Venkat Prabhu introduces a host of new faces in the movie. The movie produced by Capital Film Works, S P Charan and Tantra Films (Singapore), J K Saravana, has a huge star cast of 11 Heroes and 2 Heroines - Director Agathiyan's daughter Vijayalakshmi and Mumbai Model Christine Zedek. For the first time in the Indian film history, the movie has no individual or dual lead characters. Instead, the uniquely scripted film has all the cast in the movie playing prominent roles. Dwelling more, Venkat Prabhu, says, 'It is a movie which has a strong screenplay and laced with fun all through. A value for your money indeed'. The artistes in the movie were selected after auditions and several screening tests, he said and added, they were given a month's training before commencing the shooting. Two songs were shot in Bangkok in exotic locations including Beaches, Islands and Rain Forests.
Friendship between Dhanush and Bhoopathy
Dhanush and director Bhoopathy Pandian share a deep and unique friendship. So much so that the friendship is unlikely to be affected despite a tussle between the director and Dhanush's father Kasthoori Raja. Here is a small flashback to give you an idea of what had caused the trouble. Kasthoori Raja has recently sold the Telugu remake rights of Dhanush starrer 'Thiruvilaiyadal Arambam', directed by Bhoopathy. It is said that he hasn't given any share to the director by selling the remake rights. Bhoopathy worked in the film on mutual faith without entering into any agreement. Now the director has filled a complaint against Dhanush's father Kasthoori Raja in the producers' council. He has sought the council to enable him to get his share (40 percent). Now the council is conducting a trial with both the parties. The case, Bhoopathy says, will not affect his friendship with Dhanush. 'It will continue irrespective of the result of my complaint', says the director. Dhanush, it is said, wants to act again in Bhoopathy's movie. It was Bhoopathy who gave him hits like 'Thiruvilaiyadal Arambam' and 'Devathaiyai Kanden'. Bhoopathy too is willing to make another film with Dhanush. The two friends have admirably chosen to look beyond the tussle over the financial issues.
'Best friends' at 'Sakkarakatti' audio launch on July 11
A. R. Rahman's soothing tunes for the film 'Sakkarakatti' will be launched at a function organized by the producers of the film on the 11th of July. The chief guests of the event would be 'best friends' K. Balachander and Bharathirajaa. The tag 'best friends' is owing to the fact that K. Balachander called Bharathirajaa as his good friend during the 'Kuselan' audio launch. The Tamil film industry is abuzz with excitement with the fact that extensive graphics are being created for the movie's song sequences, and the detailed work is literally running close to a year. Reports also suggest that a crore of rupees have been spent for picturizing just one song. The intensity and effectiveness of the songs composed by A. R. Rahman is said to be the reason behind the filmmakers' going through such an effort. Another interesting piece of information is that A. R. Rahman has hummed for a song titled 'Maruthanni' which has been rendered by Madhushree. It can be recalled that all the songs that have the musician's humming have gone on to be huge chart toppers like 'Chinna Chinna Aasai' in 'Roja' and 'Sanda Kozhi' in 'Aayutha Ezhuthu'. 'Sakkarakatti' has Santhanu, son of writer, director, actor K. Bhagyaraj as hero and yet another film personality's (Kalaipuli Dhanu) son Kalaprabhu as the director. Ishita and Vedhika play the leading ladies and the film is produced by Kalaipuli Dhanu.
