Urmila Matondkar inaugurated the Casino Shangrila, the newest addition of gaming facility in Kathmandu. Urmila wearing white sleeveless t-shirt with colourful Punjabi Lehenga inaugurated the seventh casino of Nepal in Hotel Shangri-La by lighting the traditional Lamp last evening amidst hundreds of guests. Urmila who is in the beautiful Himalayan country didn't give any performance of her own but watched others perform to Hindi music, including 'Kaanta Laga'. Urmila has been going through a difficult phase in her film career. For, she is no spring chicken to enact the teeny bopper roles, and she isn't over-the-hill to say no to glamorous roles. But it defies reason as to why she is segmenting herself only in the mould of 'Sensible' cinema like 'Pinjar', 'Banaras', 'Tehzeeb' etc. She would be seen next in 'Bas Ek Pal', another small film that hasn't been able to create enough buzz in spite of having fantastic music. Maybe, she should realize that if her focus lies only in performance oriented roles, then a 'Bhoot' or a 'Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya' also gave her chance to showcase histrionics successfully. The audience would love to see her glamorous avatar. And even she should realize that it's time she upped her Glam-Quotient. Before it's too late!
Manoj gambles on another remake
One doesn't know what is it with remakes and Mohan Babu's family. They set much store by them. And mostly they work as Mohan Babu has a strong and intuitive feel for scripts and stories. Now in a strong bid to help his son Manoj's career take off, Mohan Babu's Lakshmi Prasanna films is remaking the Tamil hit Chithiram Pesuthadi. The Tamil original was a gangster movie with a romantic core. It was a smart mix. Now, Mohan Babu wants to recapture this in Telugu. The Telugu remake is titled Raju Bhai and will have Manoj taking another attempt at stardom. Manoj's previous movies like Sree and Donga Dongadi were since attempts. But somehow didn't get him the desired breaks. But Raju Bhai will hopefully make a difference. Suriya Kiran will direct the flick. While Sheela will play the heroine. An item song gave the Tamil original a big pull. The song, in earthy local dialect also helped matters. So it is with interest that one looks at Raju Bhai and how this song will be canned. Rahasiya is tipped to dance for this number.
One last gamble
Desperation can drive people to any lengths. And it sure has Ankitha. The one-time Rasna cutie is now an actress in her own right. After a slew of good films in both Tamil and Telugu, the actress is now on square one. There is not much happening in her career now. Seetharamudu is the only hope now. And so desperate is she for success that Ankitha is now ready going all guns blazing on the glamour quotient. Reports have it that she will be oozing glamour and will be her leggy self in the movie. Sivaji plays the hero. The movie is almost complete and all ready for release.
Dil Rajus bold gamble
With the cricket season and exam fever set to have an impact on film watching, some major releases may get delayed. Of course, it takes supreme confidence and extreme courage to get the movies out into the theatres at such a time. Dil Raju seems to be a man of such immense courage. He is making bold to get his Munna released some time in the middle of March. It shows his faith in the film and the way it has shaped up. Munna is said to be a powerful action-packed entertainer with Prabhas in the lead. Industry men are talking in awed tones about the action sequences that Prabhas has done. It is all high-octane, says one sources of the Hollywood-style action sequences. The music of Harris Jayaraj is also being talked of highly. Vamsi Paidipalli is directing the movie. Dil Raju has always found success in summer. This season too, the sun of success is likely to shine on him.
