More news →Akshay game for action-comedy
Akshay Kumar a.k.a. Akki is all set to entertain the audience once again. If the buzz going around Bollywood is to be believed then Nikhil Advani will soon direct Akshay in his forth coming action-comedy venture 'Chandni Chowk To China'. Akshay was the master blaster last year giving four hits in a row like 'Namastey London', 'Heyy Babyy', 'Welcome' and 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa'. With the right person to bank on, the director seems to be real happy to direct Akshay. It is said that Deepika Padukone will share screen space with Akshay in this flick. 'Chandni Chowk To China' is produced by Warner Bros. and Rohan Sippy. This film will cast Akshay as the man with a rugged look and has a lot of action bytes to look forward to. It is reported that the film started rolling on February 22 and was shot from various locales throughout China also including Shanghai. The film will involve quite a lot of martial arts sequences. The script for this film has been jointly penned by Rohan Sippy and Shridar Raghavan. The director of the film is reported to have revealed that for this film he is just banking on the prowess of Akshay and his friend for twenty years, Rohan Sippy. The director has also reportedly revealed that this film will look more like the 'Dhoom' series. After the not-so-good reviews for his last film Salaam-E-Ishq the director is all set to bounce back with a box office hit this year with 'Chandni Chowk To China'. We wish the entire team all the very best and look forward to some hardcore action from the action-hero Akshay Kumar.
Sameer Dharmadhikari - Journey from 'Game' of politics to the battleground
What a strange journey it has been for Sameer Dharmadhikari. A popular model, he made his debut 7 years back with Prakash Jha directed 'Dil Kya Kare'. With a starcast of Ajay Devgan, Kajol, Chandrachur Singh and Mahima Chaudhary, he was hardly noticed in the flick. He had his first major Bollywood outing with none other than Madhur Bhandarkar in 'Satta'. With a meaty role to boost and critical acclaim to cherish, he seemed to have made his presence felt as an accomplished actor who would be seen in many more interesting films. Not many are aware but in between 'Dil Kya Kare' and 'Satta', he was also seen in a small part in Hollywood production 'Quicksand' which was directed by Sam Firstenberg. But from hereon, it was all downhill for the actor. His next release 'Agnipankh' sunk without a trace while his only notable project after 'Satta, 'Raincoat', didn't really have much for him to do. After that he had inconsequential projects like Nigehbaan - The Third Eye, Rafta Rafta - The Speed, Husn - Love And Betrayal, Madhubaala, Katputhli and Manoranjan, none of which really helped him gain a solid ground at the box office. Now come his next film 'Game' [in fact the only film of his that is due for release in coming months] where he shares screen with Mona a.k.a. Menaka a.k.a. Sherlyn Chopra. A thriller with Prashant Narayanan, Mukesh Tiwari, Anil Nagrath and Govind Namdeo forming the rest of the starcast and Shivram Yadav [director of Madhubala] at the helm of direction, it again hardly seems hardly a product that would be able to do justice to Sameer's stint with Bollywood. Will he get another good opportunity soon?

The name game
Director Kunal Kohli is in dire straits. He is yet to get a good name for his new film. The promo of the new film from the Yash Raj banner is to be shown in the theatres on April 25, the release day of 'Tashan'. According to the grapevine, Kunal has even promised an expensive laptop for the person from the film's crew who comes up with the most suitable title. The new film has Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukerjee in the lead roles. Kunal would have never thought that finding a good name for the film would turn out to be more difficult than the whole process of shooting the movie.
Any Indian heroine game for emerging from a beach, a la Bo Derek?
Will a Bollywood actress play Bo Derek? When it comes to sex symbols, Bo Derek has ruled the world for decades with just one performance that shook the world and made men go weak in their knees for a couple of decades. When Bo performed the classic scene where she came out of the water of a Mexican beach, clad in a golden bikini in her 1979 film '10', she sent countless hearts aflutter not only in the US but all over the world. Overnight, the actress became the world's biggest teen icon; a fantasy for every man; a sort of phenomenon, going down in the history of cinema as the biggest sex symbol the world had ever seen. Written and directed by Blake Edwards, the temptingly tasteful adult comedy co-starred the 'The Sound of Music' actress Julie Andrews and actor Dudley Moore with Bo Derek. Now, almost thirty years later, Hollywood's biggest Indian producer Ashok Amritraj has managed to procure the remake rights of '10' and is all set to cast 'the next Bo Derek'. "Mr Amritraj plans to launch a worldwide search for the girl who will play Bo's role in the remake," informs the filmmaker's publicist Dale Bhagwagar. When asked if there is a chance, the maker might cast a Bollywood actress for it, the PR specialist doesn't rule out the possibility, though he says, "it's a little early to throw up names, but you will soon get to know". One thing is rest assured, whosoever plays the role in the remake, is going to be closely watched and adulated by millions all over the world. Only time will tell, if that name is going to be from Bollywood. A little known fact is that Bo has starred in a Bollywood film earlier as well. This was Kaizad Gustad's Hindi film 'Boom' released in 2003, which had Bo re-enacting her popular beach scene of '10'. Gustad had managed to rope her in for a cameo, where, twenty-four years after emerging the world's biggest sex icon, Bo, playing herself in the movie, fulfils the ultimate fantasy of an underworld don (played by Amitabh Bachchan). While the gorgeous Hollywood actress had come out of the water in a golden bikini in '10', she did the same in 'Boom', decked in a golden sari, especially for the don.
Deepika Padukone got addicted to Mendicot card game
Bollywood star Deepika Padukone has become so addicted to the card game Mendicot that she along with the team of the new film Karthik Calling Karthik continued to play it on a commercial flight, even as other passengers tried to sleep. The team was to fly back to Mumbai from Jaipur on a private jet. But the pilot informed the team that they couldn’t head for Mumbai due to a cyclone that was to hit the city. “We had to return on Monday night because many of us had to leave for Dubai for the premiere on on Tuesday morning. So from Jaipur to Mumbai we all booked ourselves into the economy class of a commercial airline.” What could’ve turned out to be a nightmare turned out to be a joyride for Deepika and her team and perhaps not such a pleasurable experience for the other late-fliers on board. “We had blocked a whole row and instead of sleeping after a super-hectic day we started playing Mendicot. We forgot we were in a commercial flight. So we were yelling and screaming in excitement while the rest of the passengers were trying to sleep.” And now, for the first time in her life Deepika is seriously addicted. “I can’t stop playing Mendicot. Ritesh and Farhan introduced me and director Vijay Lalwani to the game. When we took off on Sunday from Mumbai on our private jet the first thing Farhan and Ritesh did was to teach us this game. I’ve become addicted.
