Gana Ulaganathan as comedian

Srikanth's forthcoming film Kalla Chiruppu Azhaga will go to the floors very soon. Interestingly, Stanley and Srikanth join hands together again after April Madhathil and Mercury Pookal. Bhavana plays Srikanth's ladylove. Gana Ulaganathan plays the comedian in the movie. Stanley says. 'I am pleased at the audience response to Mercury Pookal. The decent run of the movie has created more expectations on us. We have to live up to it in our next venture'. Stanley has decided to package the film and present it as an all out commercial venture. Let's hope the duo team up to render a hit again.

Gangai Amaran is back

Gangai Amaran is a man with multiple talents. A musician-cum-lyricist-cum-director, Gangai Amaran is back to score music after a long gap. Having scored music for several hit films in the early 1980s, Gangai Amaran has been roped in for 'Selvaraghavan BE', directed by Paranthaman, an associate of director 'Selvaraghavan'. The director has chosen the title as a mark of respect to his mentor. Gangai Amaran has penned the lyrics for many a movie besides crooning for songs as well. His directorial venture 'Karakatakaran' went on to become one of the biggest blockbusters in Tamil cinema.

Ganja Karuppu's noble desire

There has been an urge which is always among many personalities in the film fraternity to render their service for the society. Choreographer-director-actor Ragava Larencce has been involved in uplifting the down-trodden and has been rendering much for the welfare of the poor children, especially those affected by heart ailments. Not far behind is comedian Karunaas who has plans to start an old age home, for which the construction would commence very soon. Now joining the list is the actor Ganja Karuppu. He started his livelihood working in a tea shop. Director Bala introduced him to filmdom in his 'Pithamagan' and it was director ameer who established him through 'Ram'. Ganja Karuppu says, 'I know the troubles and travails of the poor people. I had spent several days without food. Hence, there is a burning desire inside me to start a school for the poor children. By starting a school, I plan to educate several hundreds of poor children and help them shape their career.'

More Gang movies

Kollywood was gripped by gang war themes for almost a year. Over a dozen movies including Selvaraghavan's Puthupettai and Vishnuvardhan's Pattiyal were based on underworld. It now seems the 'gang war' themes are far from over. The trend seems to continue thanks to the recent success of movies like Pattiyal, Chithiram Pesuthadi, Puthupettai, Thalainagaram and Naalai. Some of the forthcoming movies including Vijay's Pokiri, Jeeva starrer E, Vikram's Bheema and Arjun's Vathiyar are based on gangster and underworld don stories. It seems the audience have developed a fascination for action-packed movies resulting in more and more of such movies being churned out.

Going gaga for audio launch

A shrewd film-maker Cheran chose to go away from his traditional rural based themes for his next Mayakkannadi. Quite appropriate to the title, the actor-director has planned differently to release the audio of the movie. The movie is based on a simple theme - 'Seeing is Believing'. To catch the attention of the industry men, Cheran has come out with invitations printed using 3D technology. The audio set to tunes by Ilayaraja would be released tomorrow (8 March) at Albert theatre. The who's who of the industry would take part in the celebrations.
