"It's fun to be part of A RECTANGULAR LOVE STORY" - Gul Panag

Though there is still uncertainty around Gul Panag's real life love story, on reel life she is having a whale of time with as many as three men vying for her attention. While in real life this may be a little hazardous, on screen Gul is enjoying every bit of shooting for A RECTANGULAR LOVE STORY. Smiles Gul, "A RECTANGULAR LOVE STORY is a story about three boys and a girl. The film's shooting started a few months back and we have been making good progress. A PNC production, the film which stars Ranvir Shorey and Purab Kohli in the lead, is directed by Rajat Kapur. Incidentally this is for the first time ever that Rajat Kapoor and Gul Panag are working together. "It's fun to be part of A RECTANGULAR LOVE STORY", exclaims Gul, "Rajat is such a different kind of director to work with. The film is a nice breezy romantic comedy and a unique experience for me." A RECTANGULAR LOVE STORY is the first ever comedy for Gul who has otherwise been slotted as a serious actor, courtesy films like DHOOP and DOR. Though she did have a glamorous persona in JURM and also a part of some light hearted scenes in MANORAMA - SIX FEET UNDER, these performance didn't quite get noticed due to both films failing at the box office. However, MANORAMA - SIX FEET UNDER has done reasonably well on the DVD circuits. And now HELLO is a success. "That's life and as I have always maintained that since I don't come with any expectations, I have no regrets either", says Gul, "I am moving on and looking forward to some good releases in the pipeline in coming months." Gul's upcoming films are ANUBHAV, STRAIGHT and HELLO DARLING.

"Celina, Gul and Isha have all the fun in HELLO DARLING" - Chunky Pandey

Chunky Pandey is keeping busy. In fact very busy. At last count, the man who made his Bollywood debut almost two decades back, has as many as 9 films lined up for release in next few months. While most of them are comedies, Chunky can's stop grinning from ear to ear while talking about his forthcoming release HELLO DARLING. "Remember KYA KOOL HAIN HUM (Riteish Deshmukh, Tusshar Kapoor)", questions Chunky, "If you laughed along with it, you would doubly laugh with HELLO DARLING. You saw men having some fun in KKHH, now you would watch women letting their hair down for HELLO DARLING. It is easily the female version of the Sangeeth Sivan laugh riot." So can one expect some bold humor being on the forefront in HELLO DARLING as well? Laughs Chunky, "Wait for the movie to release to see for yourself that what transpires amongst the ladies out here. But based on what I have seen, Celina Jaitley, Gul Panag and Isha Koppikar surely seem to be having fun while shooting." A Subhash Ghai production, HELLO DARLING is being wrapped up in quick time and has a debutant director Manoj Tiwari at the helm. With music by Pritam, the film is looking at a late 2008/early 2009 release. Apart from Chunky Pandey, HELLO DARLING also stars Javed Jaffrey and Rajpal Yadav. Some of the other films that Chunky Pandey is working on this year are Subhash Ghai's PAYING GUEST, Indra Kumar's DADDY COOL, Rajiv Ruia's part animation-part live film RONNIE & ROCKY, Ajay Chandok's KHALBALI, Neeraj Vora's SHORTKUT, Anubhav Sinha's SANKAT CITY and Sangeeth Sivan's EK - THE POWER OF ONE and CLICK.

"Atul was sure I would manage to impress people with HELLO" - Gul Panag

Gul Panag has been having a busy 2008. After her critically acclaimed performance in SUMMER 2007, she has recently tasted box office success with HELLO. Though both the films were in the making for a little while, Gul was always confident that the two films carried a distinct (and an original) theme and hence would manage to strike a chord with the audience. "What pretty much also worked for me was that each of the two films was quite different from each other. Also my character in one film is completely in contrast with the other", reveals Gul who has always managed to get the attention of critics in each of her films, whether it is her debut film DHOOP, DOR or last year's MANORAMA - SIX FEET UNDER. Laughs Gul, "This is why Atul Agnihotri (director of HELLO) was quite comfortable when I used to give a shot for the film. He used to tell me that he completely trusted me and hence didn't have to bother much about giving instructions or being extra cautious about how I was performing. He used to tell me that he was sure I would manage to impress people with my act yet again." Coming to her films, while in HELLO, Gul Panag plays a call center employee, in SUMMER 2007 she plays the role of a rich girl who hates wealth. Both the films are looking at a June/July release.

I’m trying to mount an international film: Gul Panag

Former beauty queen-turned-actress Gul Panag is planning to mount an international film with Britain-based Italian origin director Ovidio Salazar in which she will also be acting. “I am trying to mount a project with a friend of mine, Ovidio Salazar, whom I met at the film festival in Russia, where I was in the jury. It’s an international project we are trying to put together,” Gul, 31,said. She said, “The way films work internationally, there are no co-producers. There are people who mount the project, they are the executive producers and then the funding comes from elsewhere.” Ovidio is an Italian by origin who has lived in America and is now based in Britain. So Gul isn’t sure whether to call it a Hollywood or a British film, which they take to the floors some time in 2012. “It’s too premature. It would be an international project. This is a film where I would be acting as well. He is an American director based in England. We are trying to mount it and hopefully take it on the floors at some point in 2012. It’s an expensive project. “We don’t know whether it would be an American or a British film. It’s an English film. Ovidio is of Italian origin. Italian, American and now British. And he converted to Islam 20 years back,” said Gul. Gul, who has carved a niche as an offbeat film actor through her films like “Dor” (2006) and “Manorama Six Feet Under” (2007), maintains that she plays a mixed blood Indian in Ovidio’s film. “It’s his script. He has the script for a while and when he met me he said I am the person he wants for the film. He needs someone who looks Indian but has a degree of mixed blood somewhere. So the character is mixed blood Indian,” said Gul. Asked if she would ever write a script or direct a film, she said, “I don’t see myself writing a script at all, not directing either.”
