Music of GURU was released in a star studded event in Mumbai 2 days back but one would have to wait for another few days before catching hold of the th CDs. This is because these would be made available only on 18th November. Prior to that 'Guru' mobile downloads will be available though. Music of 'Guru' is much awaited this winter since it brings together the inimitable jodi of Mani Ratnam and A.R. Rahman. With Gulzar's pen doing all the talking, it is touted to be a much engaging score. 'Guru' stars Abhishek Bahchcan, Mithun Chakravarthy, Aishwarya Rai, Madhavan and Vidya Balan in the lead while Alka Yagnik, Udit Narayan, Hariharan, Shreya Ghoshal, Chitra, Madhushree, A R Rahman and Bappi Lahiri have been roped in for singing.
Guru Promo is a spellbinding Experience
Villager'Visionary'.Winner'.The master is back. And he is back to his supremely different ways. To his credit, the muse sparkles brilliantly as if clay turning into a priceless mural. The promo of Mani Rathnam's 'Guru' is a spellbinding experience that leaves you stunned. For it is a treatise in transition from a simple villager taking pleasure in honking a school bell, climbing the temple stairs to an ambitious businessman who enthuses his workers to dream of becoming the biggest private company of India. Abhishek Bachchan is looking stunningly real. The childish scampering of youth merges with the confidence of an entrepreneur conjuring big plans. Eyes of eagle can envisage the consequential future while making tough manipulative decisions. There's a changing graph in his body language for it is apparent that he put on weight for the part when he is shown to have grown in years. His comfortable stance with Aishwariya Rai is palpable. A R Rahman's goose-pimple-evoking background score creates an unmistakable aura of its own. In other words, 'Guru' seems to be an amazingly promising film from whatever one can make from the sixty second promo that captures moods and has minimal dialogues. I guess, it's going to be another landmark film in Abhishek Bachchan's career.
Guru, Kabul Express and Anwar clashWhile the clash of the movies 'Guru' and 'Bhagam Bhag' been averted, there is a clash of a different kind that would be witnessed this weekend.
While the clash of the movies 'Guru' and 'Bhagam Bhag' been averted, there is a clash of a different kind that would be witnessed this weekend. This is a clash between the music of 'Guru,' 'Kabul Express' and 'Anwar,' each of which have arrived on the stands this weekend. While Guru is a true magnum opus due to the coming together of Mani Ratnam and A.R.Rehman, 'Kabul Express' is big too, as it comes from the house of Yash Raj Films and boasts of some situational tracks along with instrumentals and theme pieces. With such mighty competition, 'Anwar' as a movie is obviously much smaller in scale but it may just turn out to be a dark horse when it comes to music, since it has 'Tere Bin' [Bas Ek Pal] composer Mithoon at the helm. It will be interesting to see how the sales proceedings of the three albums look, before the end of next week!
Guru - Finally a worthy comeback for Mithun Chakraborty
In the month of January, it will be 2 years since Mithun Chakraborty made his comeback with 'Elaan'. Not to mention that it turned out to be pretty damp squib in the end. The film flopped and though he had a decent hit in the form of 'Lucky-No Time For Love', his was the poorest etched role in the Salman Khan-Sneha Ullal starrer. Playing the role of a 'guru' in both 'Classic-Dance Of Love' and 'Chingaari' didn't help either as the films were commercial disasters though he did come for some critical appreciation in the latter. Acting in small time films like 'Sun Zarra' and 'Kachchi Sadak' were just not worthy enough and though there were sparks of vintage Mithunda in Aditya Dutt's 'Dil Diya Hai' a few months back, it was still not good enough. Now all eyes are set in Mani Ratnam's 'Guru' which releases on January 12th (exactly 2 years after 'Elaan' which came on January 14th 2005). The film appears to be the first ever which would be truly utilizing Mithun's potential as he plays the role of Manikdas Guptha a.k.a Nanaji. Nananji is shown to be a veteran who runs a newspaper called Swathantra and is highly impressed with the kind of fire that he could feel within the character played by Abhishek Bachchan i.e. Guru. In spite of knowing Guru as a young lad whose walk towards his destination seemed too fast, he attributed it to his young blood. But later when he was made aware about Guru's so-called evil ways, he wanted to fight and destroy him. A showoff that indeed sounds highly promising, one keenly anticipates the release of the film.
Guru to premiere in Toronto
Mani Rathnam's 'Guru' is one of the most eagerly awaited films of January 2007. Starring Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai, Madhavan, Vidya Balan and Mithun Chakraborthy, 'Guru' is said to be based on the life of Reliance chief late Dhirubhai Ambani. It was expected to have its premiere in Mumbai or Chennai. But unexpectedly, 'Guru' will be having its premiere in Toronto, Canada in December itself. It is being said that the premiere will be organized on a large scale and will be attended by Rai, Abhishek, Mani Rathnam and music director A R Rahman. The film will be releasing across the world on January 12th.
"GURU is about a dream" - Abhishek Bachchan
Abhishek Bachchan speaks on GURU: "On face value GURU is the story of Gurukant Desai who is the protagonist of the film which I play. It is the life story of this one character.. we meet him at the age from 15 to 16 till the end of his life. I personally feel the movie GURU is about a dream, a dream that I would like to believe that the majority of our country has.....his is a special story of that one character who makes his dream into a reality."
