Arjun Rampal is a man of many moods. Fireworks Model, he turned an actor with Ashok Mehta's 'Moksh' that got delayed immeasurably. Even though he is terrifically good looking and a decent actor to boot, success continues to elude him. Except for a multi-starrer 'Ankhen' starring Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal and an average 'Ajnabee' where he plays a cool baddy, Rampal hasn't tasted Box Office blood so far. It seems in his desperation to do things the way he things is right, Arjun has decided to turn a producer. His debut production is called 'I See You' that ran into a controversy recently when there were media reports about a tiff between Shahrukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan both of whom have made a special appearance in a promotional song of the film. The film's major portion is being shot in London and promises to be a style flick. Supportive ex-model wife Meher Jessia is the production manager on the sets of their production and is proving to be quite popular as well as efficient. Arjun has reasons to feel positive as he will also be seen in Farhan Akhtar's 'Don' where is essaying the constructive role played by Pran in the original. Having been a part of SRKs entourage that went for the very successful 'Temptations' tour last year, it is a happy situation to be a part of one of the most powerful camps in Bollywood. There is speculation that he has also done a cameo in Karan Johar's 'Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna'. Let's see whether, the attempts made by Arjun Rampal in grabbing some limelight finally come true. Or not.
Arjun Rampal says 'I See You' to an invisible girl
Whacky! Now that's one word to describe the plot of Arjun Rampal's first home production 'I See You'. The film stars Arjun Rampal in the lead as a charming man who could make any girl fall on knees for her. But his heart ticks for only one girl - someone who is beautiful, attractive, stylish and invisible to everyone but him. Invisible? Yes, you read it right. The USP of the film is that very fact since the identity of this mystery woman has been hidden for all as in the film she is there only for Arjun's eyes. Apart from the mystery woman, the film also stars Chunky Pandey in the meaty role of Arjun's friend along with Boman Irani and Sonali Kulkarni with Shahrukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan in guest appearances. The film is directed by debutant Vivek Agrawal.
Meet the mystery woman in 'I See You'
When the first theatrical promo of 'I See You' was shown along with 'Don', there was a strong buzz about the leading heroine of the film. Reason? Her face was not shown throughout the promo while there was no information whatsoever about who played the part. While speculations were ripe about the female being a debutant, there were also rumors about her being an established model turned actor. But now it has turned out that it was after all a rumor. The lady in question is a newcomer by the name of Vipasha who makes her debut with this Arjun Rampal starrer light hearted romantic comedy. The film is a unique love story since it deals with the relationship of a woman who is out there in spirit and a man who doesn't believe in them! How they meet, love blossoms between the two and an inseparable bond establishes between them is what this debut outing of director Vivek Agrawal is about.
It's London again for 'I See You'
The way films are being shot in London at a break neck speed these days, one wonders if the locations used in the films may soon get dried up in the same way as was in the case of Switzerland a few years back after Yash Chopra made them fashionable. The latest film to be shot in London is Arjun Rampal's debut production 'I See You'. Starring Rampal [of course] along with his invisible love (new find Vipasha), the film has been shot extensively in London, though the film still manages to give fresh vibes. In recent times, some of the high profile films that have been shot in the city are 'Rocky', 'Aap Ki Khatir', 'Dil Diya Hai' and 'Aksar'. Before this, Chopras and Johars too have visited the city for a major schedule for films like 'Lamhe', 'Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge', 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham', 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai', 'Mohabbatein' and 'Mujhse Dosti Karoge'. Even Subhash Ghai couldn't resist the city's charm as he shot his 'Yaadein' there. Well, this is not all as some of the smaller films like 'Umar', 'Katil Kab Kyon Kahan', 'To The London Calling' and 'Naughty Boy' too have taken their entire cast and crew to London and shot their films there! In the coming days, there would be a lot of London to see when major films like Akshay Kumar/Govinda starrer 'Bhagam Bhag', Milan Luthria's 'Hat Trick', Big B's 'Cheeni Kum', Sanjay Gupta's 'Dus Kahaniyaan', Shaad Ali's 'Jhoom Barabar Jhoom', Abbas-Mustan's 'Mr. Fraud', Vipul Shah's 'Namastey London' [obviously] and Suneil Shetty's 'Amar Joshi Shahid Ho Gaya' release.
"I see Sanjay in the likes of Farhan Akhtar" - Abhay Deol
Storyline: 'Ek Chalis Ki Last Local' is a film on a call center guy Nilesh (Abhay Deol) who misses his last local train home with 70 Rs in his pocket. When he comes back after 2.5 hrs to catch his morning local.. he has made 2.5 crores and has a pretty girl Madhu (Neha Dhupia) in his arms. What happened to him in these 2 ½ hrs is this whole 2 ½ hrs comic thriller film. Abhay Deol: The film is a comic-thriller. It's a concept oriented film which I feel is the new-generation film making. Working with Sanjay I realized that he is far more credible in work than most of the people I have worked with. I see him in the likes of Anurag Kashyap, Farhan Akhtar and Imtiaz Ali. Neha Dhupia: No it's not me or Abhay but the film belongs to the director. Especially because he is the writer of the film as well. He is one of the most focused directors in my career. Personally I see him in category of Priyadarshan and Kundan Shah. Sanjay Khanduri: Music of the film is essentially from Sandesh Shandilya ('You are My Sonia' and 'Chameli' fame) and 'Call' Band of Pakistan. Abhay Neha portray two middle class people who miss their last train home, one rainy night. How they land up with 'dhai crore in dhai ghante' forms the crux of this comic-thriller film. Working on 'Ek Chalis..' was not easy as I was with Abhay and Neha shooting on the roads, chawls and local trains in nights. People in hundreds would surround us in minutes. Their cooperation was invaluable support and kept me going. They are actually 'My Stars'.
