Sheela, who had been part of several Tamil and Telugu films, is making her presence felt in Malayalam film industry. Thanks to 'Maya Bazaar', a movie opposite Mammootty, she has become a popular face in the neighbouring State. Sheela, who started her career with 'Ilavattam', played a important role in Vijaya T Rajendhar's 'Veerasamy'. She ventured to Telugu be part of a couple of biggies. Now she has gone to Kerela with 'Maya Bazaar'. The Malayalam movie released on Thursday has won rave reviews for her performance. Says Sheela 'it is a joy sharing the screen with Mammootty and I learnt a lot from the versatile actor'.
Sheela sailing smooth
Remember Sheela. The pretty young actress who made her debut in Tamil films with 'Ilavattam'. She followed it up with a couple of films in Tamil before moving to Malayalam. She has emerged as a name to reckon with in the Kerala film industry today. Sheela is currently shooing for a Malayalam flick titled 'Maya Bazaar'. The good news is that she has been paired with Mammootty in the film. Says Sheela, 'initially Mammootty was apprehensive about my acting skills. However, after a couple of days of shooting, he was confident that I would pull it off. It is a great learning experience to be part of Mammootty's film', she adds. Sheela has also been assigned to act in another Malayalam film which would feature Narain. The film hasn't been need yet.
'Aegan' team heads to Ooty
There will be a 50 days non stop schedule for Ajith ' Nayantara starrer 'Aegan', directed by Raju Sundaram, starting in the month of April. The unit has so far completed the first schedule of 20 days and now it is gearing up for the next schedule. The entire shooting in the second schedule will be held in Ooty and hence the unit has blocked many guest houses and rooms in the hill station to accommodate around 150 persons. Meanwhile it has been learnt that young hero Navdeep, who acted in 'Arindhum Ariyamalum' and 'Ilavattam', would play Ajith's younger brother in 'Aegan'. Interestingly, Navdeep will also have a pair, who is yet to be decided.
Chithiram Pesudhadi to be remade
The blockbuster Tamil hit of 2006, Chithiram Pesudhadi is now going places. The movie which was directed by debutant Mysskin is now being remade in Kannada and Malayalam now. The Telugu version is being produced by Mohan Babu and features his son Manoj in the lead role. Yuvanshankar Raja would be scoring the music for the movie. Remember actress Sheela? She made her debut in Ilavattam opposite Navdeep. She dons the role enacted by Bhavana in the Tamil version. Surya Kiran (director of the Telugu superhit Sathyam and husband of actress Kaveri) is wielding the megaphone for the movie. Buzz is that director Mysskin was initially approached to do the movie in Telugu. However, he denied the offer.
Sheela ready for the rough and tumble
Sheela, who made her debut as heroine in Ilavattam, is the latest to give the Malayalam heroines in Tamil cinema a run for their money. The tall and cute-looking actor made a good beginning with Ilavattam. Sheela got due recognition after the film was released and she is now cast opposite Prasanna in Cheena Thana and Arun Vijay in Vedha. Sheela has acted in over a dozen films as a child artiste including Nandha, Dum Dum Dum and Dheena. Says Sheela, 'It was my childhood dream to become a heroine. I am now acting in a couple of movies in Tamil besides a big project in Kannada.' Sheela is playing dual roles in a Kannada movie titled Ninae Bandho opposite Saurav. Says the actress, 'My priority is Tamil. But I came across an excellent script in Kannada and decided to do it immediately.' Not averse to glamour, she says that she would do roles which are not obscene or vulgar.
Vedha - Action, start, camera at Raj Bhavan
For the first time in the history of Tamil cinema, a movie went to floors at the famous Raj Bhavan, the official residence of Tamilnadu Governor on Wednesday. State Governor Surjit Singh Barnala lit the lamp to mark the inauguration of the movie titled Vedha, which stars Arun Vijay in the lead role. Interestingly Barnala's grandson Jerovardhan makes his debut as actor in Vedha, which prompted the producer and the director to have the muhurat at the lawns of Raj Bhavan. On the occasion, Barnala wished the cast and crew all the best. Arun Kumar aka Arun Vijay teams with 'Ilavattam' fame Sheela for the movie, which is directed by a debutant R Nithya Kumar, who had served as associate to the likes of K Subash and S J Suryah. The newcomer Jerovardhan, son of senior Tamilnadu police officer Sarabjith Singh, is a grandson of Barnala. Srikanth Deva is scoring the music for the movie. Speaking about the film, the director said, 'It dwells on friendship and sacrifices being made by friends.' Among those present at the muhurat included veteran actor Vijayakumar, Tamil Film Producers Council president Rama Narayanan, Arun Vijay, Sheela, Srikanth Deva among others.
