A grand function to celebrate the successful completion of Imsai Arasan 23am Pulikesi (produced by Shankar featuring Vadivelu in lead role) will be held on 14 October at Kalaivanar Arangam in which Rajinikanth, Vijay, Vadivelu, Vivek and Sathyaraj would participate. According to S Pictures, all those involved in the movie would attend the function. The film is a historic comedy, boasted to be the first of its kind in Indian cinema. Rajini will also confer awards and mementos to the crew members of 'Imsai Arasan'.
Imsai Arasan 23am Pulikesi - Time to celebrate
Imsai Arasan 23am Pulikesi, as we have said, is a trendsetter. A satire and spoof on historical, the movie is the first of its kind in Tamil (even in India). It has firmly anointed Vadivelu at the top. Shankar produced, Simbudevan directed Imsai Arasan is all set to cap its impressive run with a 100-day celebration. Fittingly, it will be Rajinikanth who will be presiding over the 100th day celebrations of the movie. The function is slated for 14 October and all the top honchos of the industry are expected to participate. All the technicians of the movie will be honored on the occasion. This is the third straight success for Shankar's S Movies production house.
Imsai censored
Director Shankar's home production Imsai Arasan 23am Pulikesi has been censored. This hilarious historical movie featuring Vadivelu in the lead role has been given an 'U' certificate. Supposedly a laughathon, Imsai has been cleared by the censor officials without any cuts on Saturday. Vadivelu, who plays a dual role in the movie says, 'It is no joke to do a historical film with grand costumes and mouthing the long dialogues. It was more than a challeng But I relished every minute of it.' According to producer Shankar, 'it is after 28 years that a Tamil movie would revolve around the happenings of a historical period - the King and the Queen era.' Popular personalities including Nagesh, Manorama, Nasser, Vennira Adai Moorthy, Sriman and Ilavarasu are in the cast. Imsai is being directed by a cartoonist-turned-director Simbudevan.
Imsai this weekend
With all decks cleared for the release of Imsai Arasan 23am Pulikesi, producer Shankar is planning to release the movie this week-end. It may be recalled that following Censor Board urging the producer to obtain a No-Objection certificate from Animal Welfare Board for the movie since they have used horses and elephants in the movie, the release was delayed. Following a meeting with Chief Minister M Karunanidhi last week during which Shankar urged his intervention to ensure a early release of the movie, all things started to move in right direction and all troubles were sorted out. Now Shankar is planning to release Imsai Arasan on 7 July. A hilarious entertainer, the movie features Vadivelu in the lead role with debutant Simbhu Devan wielding the megaphone. The promos are interesting and compelling. Hope the movie matches that.
Imsai in Telugu
Imsai Arasan 23am Pulikesi is all set to speak in Telugu. The blockbuster historical comedy staring Vadivelu in the lead roles will be dubbed and released in Telugu. The movie produced by director Shankar and directed by Simbu Devan was a big hit. Vadivelu played a dual role. Mega Super Good Prasadh and Paras Jain would produce the dubbed version in Telugu. The movie has Nasser, Monika and Ilavarasu among others in the cast. Music is by Sabesh Murali. The Telugu version is titled Himsaraju 23va Pulikesi.
Will Imsai grace theatres?
The issue of a horse being used in the Imsai Arasan, has become major controversy which has halted its release. After struggle, producer (director) Shankar and director Simbhudevan managed to get a censor certificate for this film. But the officials at the Censor Board have insisted that they get an No Objection Certificate from Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI). AWBI prohibits the use of certain animals and birds in films. To use these animals like the horse in Imsai Arasan 23am Pulikesi used by Vadivelu in war scenes, Simbudevan and Shankar should have taken the prior approval of AWBI. Shankar claims that he was ignorant of such rules. It may be recalled that Aamir Khan faced similar problems with Rang De Basanti as there is a scene when he rides a horse. Shankar had approached the court. The court issued an order recently asking AWBI to issue an NOC, but they have referred the issue back to the censors saying that they can do so at their own discretion. For know, the issue is still pending and the release of Imsai Arasan has been delayed. Imsai stars Vadivelu, Monica, Nandhitha and Tejashree. Directed by Simbhudevan, the movie is being produced by Shankar. Music is by Sabesh Murali and lyrics by Pulamai Pithan.
