Vadivelu starrer Indiralohathil Na Azhagappan is fast progressing for a December release. Scenes involving Vadivelu as Lord Yama is being shot at huge sets erected at Prasad Studios. Produced by Seventh Channel Manickam Narayanan and directed by Thambi Ramiah, it is the story of a youth, who reaches the heaven and is floored to see Lord Indira resembling him. He then visits Yamaloham, where Lord Yamaraja too resembles him. The encounter between the three forms the crux. Speaking about playing triple roles in the mythological-themed movie, Vadivelu says, 'I feel elated. I undergo great pain donning the makeup for over a couple of hours every day. Manickam Narayanan is a one of the rare producrs who has been evincing keen interest in getting the act right'. On his part, Thambi Ramiah, said, 'With a dedicated actor by my side and a generous producer, I am confident that Indiralohathil will shape up well'. The movie stars Yamini Sharma, Nasser, Sumithra, directors Thambi Ramiah and Raj Kapoor. Thota Tharani's art work deserves a special mention as he had created sets that replicate the real, says Narayanan. After shooting a major portion of the movie in grand sets, the crew would be moving to Ambha Samudhiram for shooting soon.
Indiralohathil: Vijay, Suriya, and Silambarasan
It was a memorable and one of the rare occasions in Kollywood. It was a function that witnessed the gathering of leading young stars on the same dais. Vijay, Suriya, and Silambarasan attended the audio launch function of 'Indiralogathil Na. Azhagappan', along with Cheran and Parthiban. The highlight of the function was that the audio was released in the presence of the children from Little Flower School (a school for children with visual as well as hearing impairments). The children were thrilled to be with the stars. Vijay's presence came as a surprise, as his name was not figured in the invitation. But he made it a point to attend the function to honor the personal request of the producer Manikkam Narayanan. Suriya expressed his admiration for Vadivelu, who came up in the field through hard work. 'Initially he was doing small and sundry roles for his survival. Now a film becomes hit if he dons just a small role in the film', said Suriya. Cheran, the hero of the other function held in the same complex (audio release of 'Pirivom Santhipom' in which he plays the lead role), came to this function and rendered a few words in praise of Vadivelu. Parthiban heaped laurels on Vadivelu. He also praised the awesome sets created for the movie. Silambarasan attributed the success of Vadivelu to his dignified approach. 'He has never insulted anybody in the name of comedy', said the young hero. Director Thambi Ramayya gave a brief account of the film, while sharing his experience with the making of this film featuring Vadivelu in three different roles. Vadivelu thanked everyone for their complements and support. He shared his experience of handling the mythological characters in his inimitable style. The songs that were screened in the function were tuneful and spectacular, to say the least. Music director Sabesh Murali and art director Thotta Tharani have done wonders. The film is slated for Pongal release.
Indiralogathil Shriya: how it happened?
Vadivelu, who is donning three different roles in 'Indiralogathil Na Azhagappan', had explained the press about how they got the hot girl Shriya dancing for a single song in the movie. According to him, the producer Manikkam Narrayanan approached Shriya to appear in the song and the heroine obliged. It was purely a professional decision by the actress, Vadivelu added. Vadivelu told this to the Internet and TV channels whom the team of Indiralogathil Na Azhagappan met following the audio launch function. The meet took place in the producer's (Seventh Channel) office. He also reflected upon the hue and cry raised by a section of the industry over the news. 'I heard that hundreds of phone calls were exchanged between various circles after the news came out. Most of them could not believe the news. I also heard that some had lost their sleep. They could not digest a girl like Shriya dancing with me', said the comedian with his typical modulations. 'Mind you, she has not acted as my pair. It was just a single song', added Vadivelu. He recalled that K.R. Vijaya, who had acted with the likes of MGR and Sivaji Ganesan, also acted with Nagesh as his pair. 'This is a profession and we are here to work. Why so much of fuss is being made over this is something I could not understand'. He also informed the media persons that he had asked Shriya about her decision to dance with him. The most sought after girl replied that she was his ardent fan and hence took it as an opportunity to act with him. Vadivelu appreciated Shriya for her guts to defy the so called rules of Kollywood, which discourage the leading heroines to do an item number with a comedian.
Indiralogathil on Feb 1
The much awaited 'Indiralogathil Na Azhagappan' was expected to hit the halls on Republic Day. Now it is confirmed that it would be released on February 1. This Vadivelu starrer comedy fare is expected to reverse the trend of 2008 releases in terms of business, which has not been encouraging. The movie has Vadivelu handling three different roles, two of which are mythological characters. The comedian has meticulously worked for this film. The grand costumes including the crown and armor worn by him weigh up to 5 KGs. On financial front, he has lost huge money by declining many offers because of this commitment. First he gave 70 days of call sheet. Later it was extended to 100 days. He did not accept any other films in the meantime, as he decided to keep focused on the film. The leading actress Shriya's appearance in an item number adds sensation to the movie. The film also has Suja and Laksha dancing for peppy songs. Thambi Ramaiyya, who has penned comedy tracks to Vadivelu in many films, directs 'Indiralogathil Na Azhagappan'. Get ready for a hilarious experience offered by Vadivelu & Co.
'Indiralogathil' in USA
The success of Vadivelu's maiden venture as hero 'Imsai Arasan 23aam Pulikesi' has triggered the expectation for 'Indiralogathil Na Azhagappan' all over the world. The movie is set for a grand release in the USA. According to Jayvel Murugan, the US distributor, "The movie is being released in 6 centers in the USA including Bay Area, New Jersey, Boston, Connecticut, Chicago, Dallas and Virginia/Maryland. The business in all the centers has been closed for the first two weeks. This is something which happens for movies with a huge star cast. The online ticketing for the movie has been progressing extremely well". The overwhelming response to a movie that stars a comedian in lead role(s) is something unprecedented. Tamil film world has seen many comedians in lead roles but none of them has created so much hype and expectation. The magic of 'Imsai Arasan' has had a telling effect on 'Indiralogathil Na Azhagappan'. The vibes created all over the world is a testimony to the popularity the unique comedian has gained over the period of almost two decades. Vadivelu has lot of confidence in this film, so much so that he has sacrificed many projects for this film. He dons three different roles in the movie, two of which are mythological characters. The hot and happening girl Shriya's participation in the movie has considerably increased the hype over the film. Thambi Ramaiyya, who has penned comedy tracks to Vadivelu in many films, directs 'Indiralogathil Na Azhagappan', while Seventh Channel Narayanan produces the movie. Sabesh Murali's music and Gopi's camera work add strength to the film. But it is the fabulous work by art director Thotta Tharani, which is said to be the highlight of the movie. Vadivelu, in his recent press meet, expressed happiness over his status of being a household name in Tamil Nadu, and his special place among the children. There is no doubt that his charm has spread over the cross section of society and so has the anticipation for the movie, in which he is set to offer triple treat to the audiences.
Malaysia Vs Indiraloham
Malaysian and Singapore Tamils and Tamil film audience are more fascinated for the comedians. Previous occasion in Star Nights, our favorite Vadivelu stole the hearts of the viewers. But, this time he will be missing for the Star Night. It will be like taking candy from a baby for the viewers. Any way Vadivelu put in plain words that he could not make it this time, as it was about time to complete 'Indiralogathil Na Azhagappan', since the producer was keen to get the movie done for Pongal. He found a day amid his fixed to-do programs to worship his favorite goddess Mother Meenakshi in Madhurai. He says that she is the only secret of his energy while the audience thinks that Vadivelu's comedy is the secret of their energy!
