Music of 'Mission Istaanbul' flagged off at IIFA 2008

The IIFA 2008 was kicked off yesterday at Bangkok in the presence of the Bachchan family, other top Bollywood actors and technicians and invitees from the government of Thailand and other celebrities from the host country. 'Mission Istaanbul' which is a joint production of Savile Row Co, Balaji Motion Pictures and Popcorn Motion Pictures Pvt. Ltd. is one of the movies to be premiered at the IIFA world Premiers which is one of the attractions in the total package of this years IIFA. For this multi starrer film Vivek Oberoi has gone for an image make over adopting long hair. The other actors in the film directed by Apoorva Lakhia are Zayed Khan, Shriya Saran, Shabbir Ahluwalia, Nikitin Dheer, Suniel Shetty and a new actress Shwetta Bharadwaj. The music album of 'Mission Istaanbul' containing six songs for which T-Series holds the rights was released at the IIFA Weekend 2008 by the veteran hero of Bollywood Jeetendra who is also known as the jumping jack. Four talented music directors which include a debutante have composed the music of the new film. The experienced music maker Annu Malik, Shameer Tandon, singer and composer Mika and the new kid on the block Chirantan Bhatt used their skills to compose the songs. 'Mission Istaanbul' also marks the collaboration of Annu Malik and the famous Turkish singer Ege for the romantic song "Jo Gumshuda". The singer from Turkey has made this song very unique and touching with his soulful sound. When Annu Malik who is known for his great soothing romantic tracks used the incredible talent of Ege, the result is a great song with an entirely new flavour that incorporates the elements of the Indian songs and the poignant singing style of the vocalist from Turkey. Balaji Motion Pictures and PoPCorn Motion Pictures bought the rights of a very famous international song titled "World Hold On", a music track that has the credit of being remixed in thirty six different versions till now to use it in 'Mission Istaanbul'. Shameer Tandon used the original song to create a new version mixing Indian lyrics with Turkish sounds and coming out with a fantastic new song which still keeps the soul of the original track intact. The song composed by singer/composer Mika is a typical Bollywood style song. The song featured on Vivek Oberoi's character in the film just like the song "Aye Ganpat" that revolved around the character played by Vivek in 'Shootout at Lokandwala stays true to the music style of Hindi Cinemas. The song is expected to turn out to be a hot choice of the youngsters. The new music director Chirantan Bhatt tries to prove his mettle with the title track which is very vibrant and gels with the true attitude of 'Mission Istaanbul'. Chirantan has also worked on producing a groovy item song titled as "Nobody Like You". 'Shootout At Lokandwala' proved to be blockbuster and helped Vivek Oberoi to end his steak of box office duds at a time when he was desperately looking out for a super hit. He certainly likes to see 'Mission Istaanbul' to rise more higher. The actor who made a dashing entry into Bollywood with the super hit 'Company' directed by Ram Gopal Varma will be performing to the tune of the song "Apun Ka Saath" from the new film at the awards function on June 8 at IIFA Awards 2008. Vivek's dreams of a hugely successful movie is all said to get a good thrust with the great music of 'Mission Istaanbul'

Zayed Khan beefs up for 'Mission Istaanbul'

There is a big possibility that the forthcoming film 'Mission Istaanbul' directed by Apporva Lakhia can benefit Zayed Khan in the way the movie 'Sangrash' came as a turning point in Akshay Kumar's acting career. In most films we have seen this tall and lanky actor doing roles that have different shades of the life of the fun loving, easy going, new generation youth. The visuals of his character in the forthcoming high octane action packed movie shot in Turkey give us a feeling that his character is of a fully matured man with a no nonsense attitude. The dark, tough and manly costumes coupled with the glasses and trimmed hair gives a look that has never been experimented on Zayed before. The young actor also had to do something that he has never done before as part of the preparations for the climax scene of 'Mission Istaanbul'. The actor had to put in additional mass of 11 kg to increase his body weight to 75 kg so that he could match up in physical terms in the climax with the baddie of the film Nikitin Dheer, who is 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighs 86 kg during the encounter. Zayed tells that he has a lot at stake in this new project and it has taught him several new things. So he is eagerly awaiting the release and the response to his image change as well as one of the most exiting and well made roles in his career.

Ishant to replace injured Praveen for ODI series

The five-match one-day India-South Africa cricket series beginning here Wednesday is the last opportunity for the two countries to test their players before finalising their World Cup squads. However, both teams are struggling to keep their players free from injuries before the mega event kicks off in the subcontinent Feb 19. India are without their key openers Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir for the ODI series and now Praveen Kumar has joined them with an elbow injury. The team management thought it prudent to rest Kumar in view of the World Cup and he has been replaced by Delhi fast bowler Ishant Sharma. Ishant, who returned home after the Test series, will be flying out to join the squad. S. Sreesanth is also doubtful for the opening game as he is nursing a hand injury. The series will also provide Yuvraj Singh an opportunity to cement his place in the side after losing his place in the Test squad and a poor trot in the ODIs. India would like the flamboyant batsman to strike form. It will also be a big test for Rohit Sharma, who was flown in to replace Gambhir. Rohit made a big impact with a fluent half-century in the Twenty20 match and would like to make a case for the World Cup selection. All eyes will be on Suresh Raina, too. The left-handed batsman showed great promise last year but questions are being raised over his technique against short-pitched bowling. Spinners Ravichandran and Ashwin Piyush Chawla will be looking to make an impression on the selectors to join Harbhajan Singh in the World Cup squad. South Africa will be missing their injured batsman Jacques Kallis, but they have enough firepower to challenge India. Graeme Smith, AB de Villiers, JP Duminy and Hashim Amla are all proven match-winners. Speedsters Dale Steyn and Morne Morkel showed their mettle in the Test series and would be breathing down the Indian necks again, with promising left-armer Wayne Parnell joining them as the third seamer. Pakistan-born leg-spinner Imran Tahir, 31, is expected to make his debut and will be closely watched. Teams (from) India: Mahendra Singh Dhoni (captain and wicketkeeper), Sachin Tendulkar, Murali Vijay, Yuvraj Singh, R. Ashwin, Piyush Chawla, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, Virat Kohli, Praveen Kumar, Ashish Nehra, Munaf Patel, Yusuf Pathan, Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma, S. Sreesanth. South Africa: Graeme Smith (captain), Hashim Amla, Johan Botha, AB de Villiers (wicketkeeper), Jean-Paul Duminy, Faf du Plessis, Imran Tahir, Colin Ingram, David Miller, Morne Morkel, Wayne Parnell, Robin Peterson, Dale Steyn, Lonwabo Tsotsobe.

IPL 2015 - Full Coverage He said the bowler has worked hard on the areas where he had to improve. "Ishant is very much in consideration. He is fully fit. "Ishant has worked very very hard for the last few weeks, to clear out those issues. He is very much in consideration for playing an important role for us in the upcoming games," he said. The coach heaped praise on skipper David Warner for displaying excellent leadership qualities in the ongoing IPL season. "David is an exceptional individual. He has shown how he can grow as a leader. He has been excellent with his leadership both on and off the field. He embraced the challenge and he has done a great job. Most importantly it has not affected the brand of cricket he brings to the game," he said. "He continues to play fearless cricket. He is a cricketer who is never satisfied and wants to improve more and more on the game. He wants to be the major contributor for the team always," the 49-year-old coach said.
