Karthik Subbaraj, the director of Pizza clarifies the air about wrapping of shoots for his second film titled Jigarthanda with Siddharth. There is abuzz in K-town about the schedules of Jigarthanda as the lead actor Siddharth in his twitter page said, “Karthik Subbaraj's 'Jigarthanda' coming to an end for me. 7 unforgettable weeks in Madurai. Special film. Grateful.” Responding the earliest, Karthik Subbaraj said, “Jigarthanda is done with only 75% of its shooting, while Siddharth has completed his parts and might join at the end for patch works.” Lakshmi Menon is Siddharth’s lady love in Jigarthanda, which also casts Prathap Pothan, Karunakaran, Simhaa and Guru Somasundaran in vital roles. Santosh Narayan is scoring music for the film.
Jigarthanda ready to be served soon: Karthik Subbaraj
Siddharth, Lakshmi Menon and Bobby Simhaa starred Jigarthanda has completed its censor formalities and filmmaker is hoping for the perfect release date sometime soon. Karthik Subbaraj directed Jigarthanda is a gangster flick that was awarded U/A certificate by the censor board for the action sequences in the movie. Confirming the reports Karthik Tweeted: “#Jigarthanda is completely ready to be served,with U/A from censor board.Film may release anytime soon.Am now moving on to my next script :)”. Kathiresan's Five Star Studios produced Siddharth's Jigarthanda with be distributed by Sun Pictures. Music by Santosh Narayanan, cinematography by Gavemic U Ary and editing by Vivek Harshan. Jigathanda makers might lock May 16th for their film, as Santhanam's Vallavanukku Pullum Aayudham preponed to May 10th and Superstar Rajinikanth's Kochadaiiyaan is pushed to 23rd May.
Jigarthanda success pleases Simhaa
Actor Simhaa says the success of Tamil movie "Jigarthanda", in which he plays a ruthless gangster, has left him in tears. "I've only shed tears in hard times. This was the first time I shed tears in happiness," Simhaa said. "For any actor it's the audience response that matters the most. It's the biggest reward. I'm overwhelmed with the response to the film as well as my role. The success left me in tears," Simhaa said. Starring Siddharth in the lead, "Jigarthanda" is directed by Karthik Subbaraj. "I feel I was destined to play the role," the actor said. "When Karthik was supposed to make this film few years ago, I had approached him to play the same role. I didn't get it then. "The film too didn't get made. When I approached him again, this time, with a few films in my kitty, I got the role. "Karthik, for some reason, was more convinced that I could pull off this role. There was always the pressure what if I don't do justice to the character. But it worked in my favour and thanks to Karthik for believing in me," he added. Simhaa doesn't want the success of "Jigarthanda" to blind him. "This is just the beginning. It's a baby step I've taken towards my goal. I just want to continue doing films and roles in which I can give my best. I don't want to get carried away. "Length and type of role doesn't matter as long as it's important from the story's perspective," he added.
Jigarthanda goes to Sandalwood
Critically acclaimed Tamil musical gangster film "Jigarthanda" is being remade in Kannada featuring actors Rahul and Ravi Shankar in the lead roles. The yet-untitled remake is being helmed by actor-filmmaker Sudeep. "Rahul will be reprising the role of Siddharth, while I'll play Bobby Simha's part in the remake. We've already started shooting," Ravi Shankar, who plays the main antagonist, told. The remake also features Samyukta Hornad in the role originally played by Lakshmi Menon. Talking about his role, Shankar said: "When I watched the original, I was stunned by the performance of Simha, who also won a National award for it. I'm trying to bring a new perspective to the character with my experience."
Final touches to Jigarthanda, release date soon!
Siddharth and Lakshmi Menon starred upcoming Tamil gangster drama film Jigarthanda is in final stage of post-production works and makers are expected to announce the release date sometime soon. “Final touches being given to @karthiksubbaraj 's JIGARTHANDA. Jigarthanda is the second directorial film of Pizza director Karthik Subbaraj under the production of Kathiresan's Five Star Films banner. Bobby Simhaa has played a key role in Jigarthanda that sees Siddharth with a semi-shaved head and a rough look throughout the movie shedding his boy-next-door image. Santosh Narayanan has composed music for Jigarthanda, cinematography by Gavemic U Ary and Editing by Vivek Harshan among the crew. Karthik Subbaraj, Siddharth's Jigarthanda begins
Karthik Subbaraj’s film with Siddharth in the lead role has commenced its regular shooting in Madurai today on June 12. The film has been titled as Jigarthanda. Karthik Subbaraj tweeted, “My second feature film Jigarthanda shooting starts today in Madurai. Need all your blessings and wishes friends.” Siddharth who is excited about the film tweeted, “Starting my 20th feature film as an actor today in Madurai, Karthik Subbaraj’s Jigarthanda.” Jigarthanda produced by Fivestar Kathiresan casts Lakshmi Menon and Simha as the other leads. Musical scores are by Santosh Narayanan.
