After a spate of unsuccessful outings, Jimmy Shergill has finally struck gold in the form of 'Tom Dick and Harry'! Though appreciation has always come for this ever-youthful actor since he made his debut with 'Maachis' till his most recent 'Umar', box office success has been far and few. Last few months have been especially harsh for him with public response to his films like 'Silsiilay, 'Yahaan' and 'Umar' being far from encouraging. Critical success came but the moolah was missing! Decent response to his 'Tom Dick and Harry' may finally change fortunes for Jimmy who now has films like 'Yun Hota To Kya Hota', 'Munnabhai 2nd Innings' and 'Eklavya-The Royal Guard' lined up one after another. In addition, he also has lead roles in films like 'Rehguzar', 'Delhi Heights' and 'Khaffa' that should also see a release this year.
Jimmy's 'Rehguzar' may release soon
It is too bad to be true when one sees the fate of some of the Jimmy Shergill's movies in the recent past. He had a hit in the form of 'Tom Dick and Harry' though it could hardly be counted as a great cinema. On the other hand something that indeed could be counted as great, i.e. 'Yun Hota To Kya Hota', simply went unnoticed. Meanwhile he had his 5 minutes of glory in this year's biggest success 'Lage Raho Munnabhai' whereas he saw big time box office failure in one of his best enacted performances in a complex role for 'Bas Ek Pal'. Nevertheless, turn of the year would see some of the most exciting projects for Jimmy in the coming days. 'Eklavya - The Royal Guard', 'Delhii Heights', 'Raqeeb - Rivals In Love' and 'Dus Kahaniyaan' sound quite interesting and should open a new chapter in Jimmy's professional graph. Meanwhile one of his stuck films, 'Rehguzar' too is getting ready for a release. The film did come close to hitting the marquee a few months back but went into a hiatus. With the promotion of the film beginning again, this Jimmy starrer featuring Saloni Aswani ['Dil Pardesi Ho Gaya', 'Saawan - The Love Season'] as the lead heroine could well be Jimmy's last release of 2006 before an engaging 2007 begins.
Jimmy Shergill goes negative in EKLAVYA
For all those who complained that Jimmy Shergill was always seen as Mr. Nice in each of his films, there is a reason to rejoice. This is because the young man has turned negative with vengeance in Vidhu Vinod Chopra's upcoming film 'Eklavya - The Royal Guard'. Set in contemporary times, the film is about a King [Boman Irani] and his brother [Jackie Shroff]. While Jackie schemes for years to overthrow the King and take his place, Jimmy [Jackie's son] plays a violent man who supports his father in his endeavor. In addition, he also jealous of Saif Ali Khan [Boman's son] and hates his own status as a minor role. Looking forward to you in a different garb, Jimmy!
Jimmy-Neha make for one lovely couple
In a season of films about married couples and relationships they share ['Salaam E Ishq', 'Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd', 'Just Married'], another on-screen couple that should be seen making their presence felt is none other than Jimmy Shergill and Neha Dhupia. Appearing as newly weds in their soon to be released 'Delhii Heights', they look rather cute together as a young couple settled in apartments that go by the name of 'Delhii Heights'. As Abi and Suhana who are fairly successful in their professional lives, they have happy times together, except for one seemingly minor sounding problem - they work for rival companies. Hence while they both sure quite a healthy marital relationship, the fact that they cross their ways professionally threatens to impact their personal life too. How they face the challenge and try to overcome this issue in their life forms the essence of their cute'n'lovely story!
