Jo on a high
Jyothika is one of the top stars of the south. She is certainly on a high in Tamil. And in Telugu, she is no less impressive. Her last big release here was Shock (Ram Gopal Verma's). Before that it was the commercial entertainer Mass. Now Jyothika will be back again in Telugu. According to the buzz, Jyothika has been cast as the heroine of a new Venkatesh starrer. She will play the female lead in in Selvaraghavan directed Aadavari Matalaku Ardhaley Veruley (AMAV). This will be Selva's first straight Telugu film for producers N V Prasad and Sanam Naga Ashok Kumar. The film has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja. The movie was formally launched in February but has been delayed because Selva has been busy with his Tamil film Pudhupettai (Dhoolpet in Telugu). The shoot will start from first week of June in Hyderabad. For Jyothika this is again another big film.
Jo hopes to get it right
Jyothika's film for Ram Gopal Verma production under the direction of Harish did not do well. The movie starring her and Ravi Teja promised a lot. But was not so successful at the box office. Jyothika had high hopes on that movie that she wanted to do the Tamil remake of that under her own banner. She had announced her desire to produce the remake the film herself with Suriya as the hero. But she gave up the idea. But now Jyothika may team with Ram Gopal Verma again. The talk in the industry is that Verma Corporation will produce a film that will be out in three languages --- Telugu, Tamil and Hindi. Jyothika will paly the heroine, and Suriya is being talked of as the hero again. Jyothika may be the co-producer. Kona Venkat will be the scriptwriter, and a search is on a suitable director. This time at least there should be better luck for Jyothika.
Jo, Jo times!
It is going to be a double bill for Jyothika's fans over the next two weeks. The last two movies of her career are releasing in the coming days. The first to come out will be Pachai Kili Muthucharam. Directed by Gowtham Menon, Jyothika plays a simple homemaker who has to contend with some unexpected complications. Gowtham always showcases Jyothika beautifully ' both in terms of looks as well in the character on screen. Pachai Kili Muthucharam is expected to be no different. 'It will be a role that will enhance her dignity,' is the popular opinion. Besides, next week would see the release of Mozhi. This is expected to be another big one. Industry hands cannot stop raving about Jyothika's histrionics as a mute girl. In fact, there were many moist eyes during a special show for the VIPs as every one was moved by Jyothika's performance. Directed by Radha Mohan and produced by Prakash Raj, it is said that Mozhi may even fetch Jyothika an award or two. Sadly though, Jyothika, who is in the family way, will not act (at least in the near future) any more.
Surya-Jo to wed on 911
After months of speculation of whether they will or not, finally it is through. Yes, we are talking about tamil actor Suriya and Jyothika wedding. It is now confirmed and the two will walk the aisle on September 11. Suriya's father Sivakumar, in a formal and very dignified (that is his style) press release said 'With profound happiness, we inform you the marriage of our eldest son Mr Suriya with Miss Jyothika daughter of Mrs & Mr Chander Sadanah on Monday September 11, 2006'. The marriage will be held at an undisclosed location. A reception is proposed to be held on September 12, Tuesday at the Mayor Sri Ramanathan Chettiyar Centre, Chennai. The happy couple are, as it happens, coming back from shooting for Sillunu Oru Kaadhal. Indeed, their life itself is.
Is Jo back in action?
With a fantastic career in her past and a great family life with husband actor Surya and daughter Diya, life has been great for the bubbly beauty Jyothika. It was a conscious and well-thought decision when she said she will not do films after marriage. But to all our surprise there are reports doing the rounds in Kollywood circles that Jo will soon be doing a film. Insiders have said that Jo's hubby Surya will be the producer and it will be a short film. It was Surya who had asked Jyothika to do a part in the film, reports indicate. It is going to be for a social cause that Jo will be facing the camera this time. The theme of the short-film is 'Education to Girl Child'. Surya will also play a part in this film which will also feature actors Vijay and Madhavan, who have agreed to work for this project. This time the actors are getting together to spread a social message. We will bring you more updates as and when they happen.
