It has now become a trend in Kollywood to make movies with the titles of yesteryears' hit movies. The titles of stars like MGR and Rajini are in great demand. We have witnessed films like 'Polladhavan' and 'Nam Nadu' and we have many films like 'Aayiraththil Oruvan' in the making. Following the trend, Karan, will act in 'Kaali', the title of Rajini's hit movie. Karan, who is currently acting in 'Kaathavarayan', will be the hero in 'Kaali'. The movie will also have Sneha and Sandhya in lead roles. Friends Cinema, which produced 'Kokki' featuring Karan as hero, will produce 'Kaali' as well.
Kamalini Mukherjee - Success born out of a song
Success works in strange ways. When Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu was delayed for long, Kamalini Mukherjee was enjoying a good time in Andhra. Her Godavari had been running to good reviews and response. But as it happened, Kamalini didn't get any fresh offers. Having lost hope on Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu too, the beautiful actress decided to go on a sabbatical. Soon enough Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu was released. It also emerged that Kamalini's role was just minimal. So everyone thought that it wouldn't do much for her career. But again, as it happened, people see to have been impressed by her. The song Partha Naal Mudhal in which she and Kamal Haasan romance with obvious poise and style has been inundating TV shows. And now sure enough Kamalini is said to be besieged with offers. The Bengali girl has hurriedly decided to cut short her hiatus. Now she has a manager in Chennai. She will now start signing films in Tamil. A starlet is perhaps born. And it is all because of a song.
Kamalini denies rumors
Rumors of Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu fame Kamalini Mukherjee entering wedlock spread thick and fast on Wednesday in Kollywood and Tollywood. The young girl from Bengal, who played Kamal Haasan's wife in the recent release Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu was the centre of attraction on Wednesday after a section of press carried reports that Kamalini has married secretly. However when contacted, the actress clarified that those reports were baseless. Kamalini, who acted in movies including Godavari and Anand in Telugu, said, 'It was a canard spread by a few who are working against me. I will continue to act and entertain people.' Kamalini also denied reports that she was demanding a huge sum as remuneration to work in Tamil and Telugu movies.
Kamalini to pair with Simbu
After her debut opposite Kamal Haasan in Vettaiyadu Vilayadu, Kamalini Mukherjee is slowly making her impression in Kollywood. The theatre artiste from Bengal, who was introduced to silver screen by Revathi Menon in her Hindi venture Phir Milenge, is acting as the heroine in all newcomer starrer Kannamoochi Yaenada. She is tipped to play the lead role in a movie to be directed by the White Elephants Production Company (owned by director Selvaraghavan, cinematographer Aravind Krishna and music composer Yuvan Shankar Raja). Dhanush is tipped to play the hero in the movie. The latest buzz doing rounds is that the young actress has been roped to play the heroine in Silambarasan's next movie as well, which would be produced by NIC Arts Chakravarthy. 'Sivaji' fame Shreya Saran is supposed to play the other heroine. Kamalini's Telugu movie Style with Lawrence Raghavendra and Prabhu Deva is ready for a release in Tamil titled Latchiyam. With a handful of movies in Tamil and Telugu, Kamalini is confident of a bright and prosperous 2007.
Kalaignar Karunanidhi, AR Rahman at an awards show
The CavinKare Ability awards was presented amidst heavy security and thronging crowds at Chennai Trade Centre recently. The special guests of the evening included the Honorable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Kalaignar Karunanidhi, music director-singer AR Rahman, poet and activist Kanimozhi, women's activist Mohini Giri, CK Ranganathan, the Chairman cum MD of CavinKare and Jayashree Ravindran, the editor of Ability magazine. The awards were presented to those who got the better of their physical handicaps with sheer determination and courage. Our honorable CM, while speaking on the occasion, said that he was deeply moved and added that there are lakhs of others who need to be acknowledged and encouraged. The grand finale of the evening was a stunning piano recital by AR Rahman.
Kalaimamani awards announced
The state government has announced Kalaimamani awards Thursday. Popular film personalities including Silambarasan, Vishal, Jayam Ravi, Jeeva, Vineeth, Venu Aravindh, Kanja Karupu, Trisha, Navya Nair, Deepa Venkat, Aarthy and CID Sakunthala have been selected to receive the awards. Also lyricists Pa Vijay, Kabilan, Na Muthukumar and music composer Vidyasagar have been chosen for the honor. The list also includes names like playback singers Thippu, Madhu Balakrishnan and Bombay Jayashree, cinematographer Paneerselvam. A thrilled Trisha says,'I thank the State government for bestowing the rare honor on me. I deem it a privilege to win the highest award from the State government'. Thanking director Ameer for giving him a break in Ram, Kanja Karuppu, says, 'But for Ameer I would have been no where. It is a happy occasion for me'. Jeeva, currently shooting for Rameshwaram, says, ''I thank the Chief Minister M Karunanidhi for bestowing the title on me. It is a tonic for me to do my job well'.
