More news →'Kabaddi' Back From Half Time
The Kannada film 'Kabaddi' on the desi game that has acquired importance today has come back from financial crunch and is shooting the remaining 50 percent briskly. Actor Kishore, Harsha, K.Raju, Ravi and Raghavendra of 'Visthara' and 'Khandaya' theatre group joined hands in completing this film. Last year May the film held a national level 'Kabbaddi' championship spending nearly Rs.20 lakhs at Mandya. That was a part of the film and now another such competition in the 'Kesaru Gadde' (wet muddy fields) is taking place in Mandya district. Hoo Pattanashetty has written the dialogues for this film directed by Nrendra Babu. Hamsalekha has written five songs and composed the music. Kavitha Seth, Hariharan, Harsha are the singers. One of the songs will be shot near Taj Mahan says director Narendra Babu. Ananthraj Urs replaces Krishna as cameraman. Pravin, Priyanka, Kishore, Sriraksha, Avinash, Shoba, Manju and C.G.K.Kiran are also in the cast.
Puneeth to sing National Anthem in PRO Kabaddi
Power Star Puneeth Rajakumar is all set to sing National Anthem at the PRO Kabaddi inaugural game between Bengaluru Bulls versus U Mumba teams in Bangalore. Earlier, Amitabh Bachchan, Allu Arjun had sang the National Anthem at the inaugural match of the Mumbai and Andhra teams respectively. Now Puneeth has joined the bandwagon of such celebrities. Puneeth will be inaugurating the match by singing the National Anthem at the Kanteerava Stadium in Bangalore.
Kabaddi brings Aamir, Shah Rukh together
Superstars Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan were seen on the same platform here to support Indian sport kabaddi. The Pro Kabaddi League tournament started here Saturday and the duo, along with other celebrities like Farah Khan, Sachin Tendulkar, Tina Ambani and Kabir Bedi, attended the launch of the eight-city franchise. Abhishek Bachchan owns Jaipur Pink Panthers, a franchise of the Pro Kabaddi League. From the Bachchan family, megastar Amitabh, his wife Jaya and daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai were seen cheering for Abhishek’s kabaddi team. “Thank u @juniorbachchan 4 inviting us to the Pro Kabaddi opening!! What a fun we had!!” Farah tweeted. Amitabh, who posted a photo at the launch with the Khans, also thanked them and others, who marked their presence. “Grateful to all the stars and friends that came out in support - Shah Rukh and Sachin and Aamir, and so many others ... and a blast we had, cheering this very Indian sport ... an occasion a first for India and the game ... great fun ... “I do hope that we continue to play it the way it has been designed, with all the prominent corporates coming in and many celebrities joining the gang ... !!” Big B posted on his official blog srbachchan.tumblr.com. His son’s team lost the match, but he was happy with the turnout. “Pro Kabaddi today (Saturday) started ... Jaipur Pink Panthers v U Mumba ... we LOST !! Punjab to start International Kabaddi League on IPL lines
Enthused by the good response for the ongoing Kabaddi World Cup Punjab (KWCP), the state government is proposing to initiate International Kabaddi League (IKL) on the lines of the popular Twenty20 cricket Indian Premier League (IPL) tournament. “The idea is to promote kabaddi on an international level and to give global exposure to our players,” said Sukhbir Singh Badal, Punjab deputy chief minister here Monday. “The IKL would professionally market the game at the international level so that players can get worldwide recognition. In the coming days we will also make all out efforts to get circle kabaddi included in the Asian Games, the Commonwealth Games and in the Olympic Games.” Sukhbir, who is also the chairperson of the organising committee of KWCP said IKL would organise matches in Europe, Canada, the US and in Australia in summers and quarter-final, semi-final and final would be played in winters in the Asian sub-continent especially in India and Pakistan. Sonu Sood named ambassador of Delhi franchise of Pro Kabaddi League
Bollywood actor Sonu Sood was on Wednesday named the Team Ambassador and key supporter of Dabang Delhi Kabaddi Club (DDKC), the Delhi franchise of the Pro Kabaddi League. The event is set to enter its fourth edition. As the ambassador, Sonu, who featured in the movie "Dabangg", will be cheering and motivating the team from the stands during their home leg in Delhi from July 24-27 at Thyagaraj Sports Complex and across other venues in the country where the team will be playing. "Kabaddi is a game which I have played and cherished since my childhood and I never thought that one day, I will become the face of it. I am truly ecstatic to join this team," Sonu said during a conference here. "The team resonates the spirit of north India and has over the seasons built a strong connection with the entire region and the country," said Saumya Khaitan, CEO, DDKC. Sonu pointed out how "DDKC has added some exceptional players to the squad like experienced international all-rounder Meraj Sheykh from Iran, the calm and composed Deepak Narwal and a few more." "In the fourth season of the league, DDKC has a novel composition for the players that are raring to compete for the trophy," added the actor, who will be engaging with Dabang Delhi fans online and on the ground.
