Men are from Mars and women are from Venus – quite literally in “Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai”, releasing Friday. It teams up Riteish Deshmukh and Jacqueline Fernandez, with the Sri Lankan beauty playing a woman who descends on Earth from Venus in search of love. The directorial debut of Milap Zaveri – who wrote rib-tickling comedies like “Masti” and “Heyy Babyy” – is a small-budget movie co-produced by Mukesh Talreja and Nikhil Advani. “‘Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai’ is extremely youthful, but the subtlety element is prevalent right through its duration,” Riteish had earlier said. Made on a budget of about Rs.10 crore (Rs.100 million), the fantasy romantic comedy is releasing worldwide with around 600 prints. It is being distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures India. Also starring Ruslaan Mumtaz, Sonal Sehgal and Vishal Malhotra in principal roles, “Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai” boasts of a number of guest appearances – Farah Khan, Akshay Kumar, Sajid Khan, Amrita Rao, Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif, Priyanka Chopra, Anushka Sharma, Vidya Balan and Karan Johar. This is Riteish’s and Jacqueline’s second film together after “Aladin”. The story of the movie revolves around Rajesh Parekh (Ritesh), a simple Gujrati boy who’s been looking for love since he was a kid. Thoroughly unsuccessful in his endeavours, he nearly gives up till he meets Natasha (Sonal Sehgal), the girl of his dreams. Just like Rajesh, Desh (Ruslaan Mumtaz), the youngest superstar in the country, is also looking for the girl of his dreams. However, their worlds turn upside down when Tara (Jacqueline), an alien from Venus, lands here in search of true love. What follows is pure rib-tickling humour. “There are some humorous as well as beautiful moments in the film when Jackie freezes time. One of the hilarious sequences is where she saves Riteish from an accident. Then, there is also a point where the two eventually realize their love for each other,” Zaveri said. While a major league of stars make special appearances in the movie, versatile actor Boman Irani will be seen in the trailer but not in the movie. “It is for the first time in Bollywood that any actor is present in the trailer of a movie and is not present in the movie itself… They (the producers) needed a psychiatrist for the trailer of ‘Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai’ and I did it… otherwise there is no psychiatrist in the movie,” Boman said.
Karan Razdan's films ready to be showcased after the censor trouble
Karan Razdan's one director who has had trouble with censor for not just one but two films. His films "Souten" and "Eight Shani" had scenes involving animals. He had a brief talk with Maneka Gandhi who told him to strictly follow the codes regarding animal treatment in films. Razdan's one complaint is that the directors are not fully aware of the codes. Three of his films have lined up for release. After Umar, it's now Souten on March 24 and Eight Shani on March 31. Karan has dedicated Eight Shani to his late wife Priya Tendulkar. According to him, Souten has less skin show as compared to movies like Neal 'N' Nikki and Aksar.
Karan Razdan's Maang
Film maker Karan Razdan is a bit tensed these days. His much publicized film on marital rape titled Maang will have to wait because Celina Jaitley has refused to work opposite ordinary actor like Aseem Merchant who was supposed to play the role of Celina's husband in the movie. Khan Vs Khan on August 11
If reports are to be believed, Bollywood lovers would witness a Khan v/s Khan battle on August 11. While the mighty Khan SRK is on one side of the ring, there is another Khan whose film is now releasing on the same day. It's not Aamir, Salman or a Saif Ali Khan. Instead it is Sohail Khan whose much delayed 'Aryan - Unbreakable' that may finally hit the marquee along with KANK. After being initially slated for a July 21 release, it may eventually be arriving on August 11. Incidentally yet another Khan, Fardeen Khan, has a special appearance in KANK.
Karan Johar promotes 'Lycra style awards'
For a few months while Karan Johar was filming 'Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna', he abstained from hosting award functions, chat shows and other celebrity events, something that he has been doing so on quite a regular basis for last couple of years. But post KANK, after counting all the rupees and dollars and pounds that he has earned from the film's release, he is back to his chilled out ways. The first step that he has taken in this direction is hosting LYCRA STYLE AWARDS for a popular music channel. In his characteristic manner, he hasn't shied away from laughing at himself while promoting the show by having multiple promos of the award function being filmed on him. In each of the promos, he has projected himself to be a desperate performer who is trying his level best to get the coveted place on the stage to host the show. Hilarious to the core, Karan Johar plays himself in each of the promos and has managed to get the awards function into the limelight.
Karan to give away Koffee hampers Feb 2007
Karan Johar is getting back in action. And what better way to do so than by distributing those coveted Hampers at his superhit show 'Koffee with Karan'. Once again. It has been learnt from reliable sources that the show will be back on air in the new season from February, 2007 on Star World. Apparently the channel has a twenty six episode contract with Karan Johar to host the second season. It wouldn't be surprising if Shahrukh Khan once again happens to be the first guest on Karan's show. It attains all the more importance because SRK is making a comeback to TV after a long hiatus with KBC. The cynics also say that the show in its first innings was a platform to up the tempo of SRK camp. And many found the efforts to pull Aamir down or Simi Garewal and Mallika Sherwat jokes were in bad taste. Never mind'Karan makes a great TV host. And the viewers will be treated to a quality show once again. Hope he gets Sanjay Dutt open up on his show'Maybe 'first episode can have Munnabhai share his thirteen year nightmare. What say Karan? Any hampers for that one'
