JAB WE MET - Kahani Poori Filmi Hai...

The forthcoming Shahid-Kareena starrer Jab We Met, could have been titled Ishq Via Bhatinda or Punjab Mail as per an audience poll conducted in India. The audience voted for the title "Jab We Met", one of the three options, because of its informal, young and romantic sound. Not many know the rationale behind the two Punjab-centric titles that got eliminated in the voting process. The logic behind "Ishq Via Bhatinda" comes from the fact that the character (Geet) played by Kareena Kapoor is one of a Sikhni from Bhatinda (a town in Punjab), which is where she takes Aditya (Shahid Kapur), her fellow passenger. Incidentally, the name of the train (in the film) headed to Bhatinda is Punjab Mail, which forms the basis of the second title. Their first ever meeting on a train kicks off a romantic journey with unexpected twists and turns, which explains the title, "Jab We Met". According to sources, this title was also Shahid's numero uno choice from the list of titles. Jab We Met releases on October 26.

Hamari Adhuri Kahani' gets 'U' certificate

Mohit Suri's forthcoming directorial "Hamari Adhuri Kahani" has been given a 'U' certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification. Starring Emraan Hashmi, Vidya Balan and Rajkummar Rao in lead roles, the movie is a love story that tries to define the true meaning of loving someone selflessly. "My film is a complete family movie. It is about love and longing. It questions the known meaning of what love between a man and woman should be because my film shows a married woman falling in love with a man after her husband disappears," Suri said in a statement. "Even though he returns to her life after many years, he stakes claim over her because they are married. It's a story that makes you think if marriage is the true culmination of love or is there a deeper meaning to love someone selflessly," Suri said. "Hamari Adhuri Kahani" releases on June 12.

'Do Lafzon Ki Kahani' made Deepak Tijori remember 'Aashiqui'

Actor-director Deepak Tijori, who is returning to direction after a long time with the Randeep Hooda- Kajal Aggarwal starrer "Do Lafzon Ki Kahani", said shooting for the film, made him recollect all fond memories of Mahesh Bhatt's evergreen romantic drama "Aashiqui", where he had played an important character. "I'm doing a romantic film for the first time after a long time even as a director. And obviously, I remember Bhatt sahab regularly and even the moments of 'Aashiqui' were coming to my mind while we were shooting the scenes. And this definitely helps. And you'll see a lot of images of Bhatt sahab in the film," he told journalists. The cast of Randeep and Kajal is fresh yet looking compatible in the first look of the film. Tijori said: "The film is basically a brooding love story and that was the reason we had to meticulously cast the actors for the film. The music of such a film also plays an important role. And I'm sure what we've achieved is remarkable and we're all excited and happy with what we've achieved in the film." Kajal and music composer Ankit Tiwari were also present at the interaction. "Aashiqui" was the turning point in Deepak Tijori's career after struggling for several years to get a break in the industry. Though he was not the lead actor, his role as lead actor Rahul Roy's friend was appreciated and made a huge difference to his career.

Vidya trained with florist for 'Hamari Adhuri Kahani'

Actress Vidya Balan trained with a florist for her role in "Hamari Adhuri Kahani". In the Mohit Suri directorial, Vidya plays the role of a florist who works at a hotel owned by Emraan Hashmi's character -- a hotelier. Vidya wanted to be trained with a florist to look authentic on screen. Suri agreed and hired a trained florist from a five-star hotel in Mumbai. "Vidya is known to give her very best for the roles she gets sold on to, and she got deeply connected with her character Vasudha in 'Hamari Adhuri Kahani'. She wanted to give 200 percent for the film and as a director I was simply thrilled to have a talented actor like her investing so much for my film." "We hired a florist who trained her for the part. We were all amazed at her dedication to even get into such intricate things. No wonder audiences love what Vidya Balan has to offer in her movies," Suri said in a statement.

Mahesh Bhatt to sing for 'Hamari Adhuri Kahani' play

A rendition of the "Hamari Adhuri Kahani" title song by Mahesh Bhatt was not used in the film, but a forthcoming stage production will feature a version, sung by the filmmaker himself. "We will record the title song 'Hamari Adhuri Kahani' in Mahesh Bhatt's voice and use it in play. Initially, Bhatt saab was reluctant, but Pooja (Bhatt) and I convinced him to record it," actor Imran Zahid, who plays the lead role of Aarav in the play, told. When it comes to lending music to his stories, Mahesh Bhatt is very particular, and it is said that every time a track is rehearsed for recording, he first sings it in his own voice to gauge its depth. So, when the title track for the film "Hamari Adhuri Kahani" was being rehearsed, he picked it up in his own voice. Pooja then recorded it, and put it out on video-sharing platform YouTube, and wrote: "An uncut diamond straight from my treasure chest- never seen before footage of my father Mahesh Bhatt singing Hamari Adhuri Kahani minutes after it was composed." The rendition wasn't used for the film, but when "Hamari Adhuri Kahani" the play was being conceived, Imran suggested that his track be used for the play. A fresh recording and approach to the track was all that was needed. According to a source, Mahesh Bhatt had bluntly refused the idea initially, but Imran stressed upon the outcome the track could produce and urged Pooja to convince her father to record the song one more time. Finally, the senior Bhatt agreed to lend his voice for the track, which will be played during the course of the play. "Hamari Adhuri Kahani" is inspired by Mahesh Bhatt's life as the son of a mother, who lived a difficult, solitary life as her husband, whom she loved so intensely, was conspicuous by his absence. The story, according to him, is written from the perspective of this young single mother and how she deals with the world. The film, directed by Mohit Suri, saw Vidya Balan, Emraan Hashmi and Rajkummar in key roles. Now, the play, which features Delhi-based theatre artist Raichittri Gupta as the female lead, is set to be staged here next month. The movie and the play are based on the novel "All That Could Have Been", co-written by Mahesh Bhatt and Suhrita Sengupta.
