'Kalloori': A real experience on celluloid

Balaji Sakthivel, who gave us an amazingly realistic movie 'Kadhal', has done it again albeit with a different treatment in 'Kalloori'. 'Please forget Kadhal and come with a fresh mind', warns the director. 'Kalloori' too is a realistic poignant venture like 'Kadhal', but in a different manner, claims the director. S Pictures' 'Kalloori' has a lot of newcomers including Akil, who plays the lead role. The boy is not your typical cinematic college guy. You can't trace even a single trait of cinematic appearance in his face and body language. Reason? Balaji has told him not to act. Surprise? But that is Balaji for you. He wants everyone appear and behave naturally in his film that has realism as its essence. He has asked everyone to be natural, forgetting that they appear before the camera. The approach has created wonders, the insiders say. The film has come out amazingly different, they claim. 'Kalloori' will hit the screens by the first week of December.

Kalloori: Shankars prediction

Director Shankar, the producer of Kallori, had the experience of looking at his trusted director working on the location. After seeing the rush and hearing the music, the ace director categorically declared that Kalloori would get Tamil cinema to new heights. He made this declaration in the audio launch function. Shankar, who entered the tinsel town with the dream of making realistic and poignant movies, could not get chance for realizing his dreams. He found nobody who could encourage such efforts. Finally he get to direct a commercial flick and made Gentleman. The movie became a blockbuster. Then he got another movie on the same genre, which too was a mega hit. The phenomenal success has created a niche for him as a sure fire commercial director, who could easily handle big budget films featuring big stars. The reputation has become his identity and there is no looking back since then. The rest, they say, is history. However, the creator in Shankar is not satisfied with this success. He still longs to make such films but his image plays as a major hindrance to realize this dream. Shankar, unwilling to give up, decided to encourage young aspirants who want to make realistic films. It is how Kaathal, Veyil, and Imsai Arasan 23aam Pulikesi happened. Kalloori, the next venture of S Pictures is all set to hit the screens by the first week of December. Balaji Sakthivel has whole heartedly acknowledges the incredible freedom he was given by the producer. "He never interfered in any of the aspects. Nor has he hesitated to give me more time, when I required", says the director with lot of gratitude. The creator in Shankar knows the value of the freedom. His faith on Balaji has proved to be worth. Shankar is obviously more than satisfied and hence predicted that the film would go places and bring Tami cinema new honors.
