Kanna: Love Vs Infatuation

'Kanna', directed by debutant director Anand deals a delicate issue of the difference between love and infatuation. The movie goes on exploring the infatuations of a 16 years old girl and deals with how she is back in track. Anand was able to convince the producers ' this is the first venture for them too ' with the strength of his story. Kosmic Film Entertainment Company (P) Ltd wanted to produce quality films in Tamil. Anand, who had earlier worked as an assistant with K. Rajeshwar, Sabha, and Parthibhan, too wanted to make a film with substance without restoring to commercial gimmicks. The common goal brought them together to create a movie, that doesn't try to entertain with violence, glamour, and other commercial ingredients. Anand was able to convince Prakash Raj within 10 minutes. The busy actor cum producer could not allot more time for the young director to narrate the story. Anand used the opportunity and started narrating. Prakash Raj said 'yes' at the ninth minute. Raja (from Telugu) and Sheela don the lead roles. Seetha and Livingston play important roles. Prakash Raj in a strong and different role is said to have done wonders in his acting. Ranjith Barot has done the music. The songs, which are already out in the market sounds good with a lot of variety. The tuneful songs are in such a manner that they tell you the story. The movie sans the usual masala items, promises to be a different movie that could entertain with a strong message.

'Ramesh Kanna' comedian is a writer

Ramesh Kanna, a popular comedian these days, takes a new avatar now. He has been entrusted with the job of penning the dialogues for Lawrence Raghavendra's Tamil directorial venture Muni. The movie is being produced by Saran's Gemini Films and features Raj Kiran in the lead role. Ramesh Kanna is a one-time associate of director K S Ravikumar and had worked with him in several films. He made his directorial debut with Thodarum starring Ajith, Devayani and Heera. Unfortunately the movie did not do well at the box office and Ramesh Kanna was forced to take up acting. Back on track now penning dialogues for Muni, he is nursing the ambition of wielding the megaphone again.

A novel attempt in Kanna Nee Enakkuthanda

There is no dearth of talents in Kollywood. Many new talents are emerging everyday and each person does full justice to the job entrusted to him and many are open to experimenting too. The Music Director of Kanna Nee Enakkuthanda, Amudha Bharathy, is the latest to join this bandwagon. He has experimented with a song which goes 'Kalaiyadha Kanavae' in the film, which has been recorded without using any percussion instrument. A novel attempt indeed. Reshmi has rendered this song and this song is said to have come out well.

Kangna gets acclaimed unanimously

If promos were any indications, Kangana Ranaut, the heroine of 'Gangster - A Love Story', was always a star in the making. To top it all, everyone from Mahesh Bhatt to Mukesh Bhatt to Anurag Basu never got tired of appreciating her superb acting skills. Though to few, it seems like yet another publicity gimmick from the house of Bhatts, those who had seen rushes of the film were quite sure that she is THE future star in the making. The thought has finally become reality with the release of GANGSTER! Inspite of Shiney Ahuja's intense presence and Emraan Hashmi's popularity amongst the young crowds, Kangana has still managed to stand tall and create a huge impression in her very first outing. Playing a complex role that required her to demonstrate various shades in her character; she has done a great job and delivered as a pro. No wonder the pretty girl [who looks much more mature and intelligent than her age] has been unanimously acclaimed all over. With 'Woh Lamhe' to follow, expect yet another intense outing for Kangana.

Kamna's balancing act

Kamna Jethmalani has plenty of attitude and chutzpah. The structured actress believes in doing things by her own terms. But these things all looked out of place, and almost presumptuous, in the aftermath of her first film Premikulu. The film did not do well in the box office and Kamna's own show was no more than passable. But now things have changed dramatically. Kamna has now been part of a success and that means a lot to a fledgling career. After Ranam became a hit, Kamna's approach looks vindicated. People now accept her to be special and her poise and confidence are seen as well-placed. Naturally after Ranam, Kamna has been getting offers of films from all over. But there are a couple of things that preclude her from plunging headlong. Obviously, like most heroines, she also says she is pretty choosy about the kind of films she does. Then she is also pretty busy in Tamil. Her first film in Tamil has just been release. The response has been mixed. But Kamna's brazen beauty has been taken note of. So balancing between the Tollywood and Kollywood would be the biggest challenge of Kamna.

Kamna gets a move on

There are many things in life that don't stick to the predictions made. Kamna Jethmalani's career in Telugu certainly belongs to this category. This grandniece of former Union Law Minister Ram Jethmalani, entered Tollywood with swirling hype and sky-high expectation. But somehow hype has not translated into reality. Her films had come a cropper, and her switch over to the neighboring Tamil was also nothing to write home about. The glamorous actress, in the event, has to struggle for a footing in the industry. Last heard, she had won herself a chance for an item dance in Mahesh Babu's Sainikudu. Now the other bit of news is that there has been another improvement in her fortunes. Sources she may get to play a full-fledged heroine in a new movie. According to indications available, Kamna Jethmalani will play the heroine opposite Jagapati Babu in a venture by RR Movie makers. The movie is to be directed by Ravi Chavali. So is Kamna finally getting a move on? Stay tuned for more.
