The Tamil remake will be directed by R.Kannan, who was an one-time associate to Maniratnam and wielded the megaphone for the recent hit movie 'Jeyam Kondan' starring Vinay and Bhavana in the lead roles. Bollywood's popular music director Pritam has been introduced to kollywood by Moser Baer for the music of the Tamil remake of 'Jab We Met'. Pritam is the music composer for 'Jab We Met' in Hindi and all the songs were hits topping the music charts last year. The flick will have Bharath and Tamanna Bhatia in the lead roles. Both the actors are currently busy doing their other projects. The filming would commence in January 2009. Jab We Met, a simple, romantic comedy film in Hindi starring Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor, which released last October was proved to be a super hit movie and owing to its huge success, it would now be remade by the corporate entity Moserbaer in four south Indian languages(Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam). With quality movies made by Moser Baer, who is also currently producing 'Poo', 'Aval Peyar Thamizharasi' among others, there is a scope for expecting the inane movies to become a thing of past. The critically acclaimed 'Raman Thediya Seethai' by Moser Baer stands as a testimony to it.
Kannan to direct 'Jab We Met' remake
Kannan, a one-time associate of Maniratnam, directed the film 'Jeyam Kondan' He has now been roped in to direct the Tamil remake of the successful Hindi film 'Jab We Met' that starred Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor. Produced by Moserbaer, the remake will have Bharath and Tamanna in lead roles. When asked whether the puissance of a director may go haywire especially when venturing into remake movies, Kannan said, "It is not that simple to remake movies effortlessly. Some have turned out to be flops and some others super hits. This unpredictability stands as a testimony that remakes also require meticulous treatment and scrupulous effort in order to be successful." 'Jab We Met' was set in the Punjabi milieu whereas the Tamil remake will be revolving around a rural atmosphere. Some hill stations rich in green terrains like Ooty are also being considered since the crux of the movie is based on romance.
Bharathi pairs with Kanal Kannan
Kanal Kannan is one of the highly respected and senior stunt directors in south India. He has choreographed many breath taking stunt sequences featuring the likes of Kamal Haasan, Rajinikanth, Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna, Vikram, Vijay, Ajith and Suriya. He has also done some cameos in many films. Now, the stunt master is poised to become the Tamil version of Jackie Chan' a rollickingly funny, action star who has worked his way up from stuntman. He has done the lead role in 'Satrumun Kidaitha Thagaval', directed by Thakkali C. Srinivasan. The movie has Bharathi, 'Ammuvagiya Naan' fame, in female lead role. Sriman, Livingstone, Kausalya, Sethu among many others have done important roles. Thakkali C Srinivasan is known for his passion for making thriller movies. He has many successful ventures like Nalaya Manithan, Manasukkul Mattapu, Jenma Nakshatiram, and Ashokavanum to his credit. He is directing a Tamil film after a short break. The audio of the movie will be released on Thursday (24.01.2008) evening in Chennai. S Baskar Produces the movie under the banner of Air Media Technologies Pvt. Ltd. This is their maiden venture. Happy with the success of 'Jeyam Kondaan' is director Kannan. A prot©g© of Mani Ratnam, Kannan's maiden venture 'Jeyam Kondaan' has managed good reviews and is doing a good business across theatres. A relieved Kannan, says, "I was recommended to producer T G Thayagarajan by my mentor Mani Rathnam sir. I wanted to do a movie for Madras Talkies. However I was happy when I got an offer through Mani sir". " 'Jeyam Kondaan' had a good storyline. All the artistes contributed their best. Thyagarajan encouraged me to give my best. Thankfully the movie came out good," he added. Stating that the industry is witnessing a good trend now, Kannan said, "Movies like 'Subramaniapuram', 'Paruthi Veeran' have been adored and admired by the masses. Good movies have started to generate in the field. As far I am concerned, I would come out with movies on positive thoughts. There would be a sense of confidence and courage reflecting in my movies".
Shraddha Srinath work with director Kannan Gautham Karthik Movie
Shraddha Srinath of Kannada U Turn fame is currently working in debutant Gautham Ramachandran’s film with Nivin Pauly and she is also making a pivotal cameo appearance in Mani Ratnam’s Kaatru Veliyidai. Meanwhile, certain sections of the media had reported that she would be doing the female lead in director Kannan-Gautham Karthik’s film that went on floors a couple of days ago. It has to be recalled that Kannan had taken his direction lessons from Mani Ratnam However, reliable sources tell us that although both Kannan and Shraddha are keen to work together, the actress is yet to hear the complete narration of the script. Apparently she had just heard the brief of the story. Around next week, Shraddha is expected to meet the director when the details would be finalized. Stay tuned and we would update you.
Suriya to unveil the first look of Kannan's next film
Director Kannan after his Oru Oorla Rendu Raja has teamed up with Gautham Karthik for Ivan Thandhiran that has Shraddha Srinath of U Turn fame as the heroine. This afternoon around 3.30 PM, Suriya will be unveiling the first look poster of this film. RJ Balaji plays an important role in the project along with Munna Simon. The film is said to go on floors from the 12th of October for about 30 days. DoP is VN Mohan, music is by Nivas K Prasanna, art is by Sekar and editing will be by RK Selva.
