'Marmayogi' to be launched in Mumbai

'Marmayogi', Kamal Haasan's next venture would be launched on July 13, exactly a month after the release of 'Dasavatharam'. Kamal Haasan seems to be eyeing the Hindi market and probably that is the reason the movie is going to be launched at the Grand Hotel in Mumbai. The master actor's movies such as 'Ek Thuje Keliye', 'Hindusthani' and 'Chachi 420' were runaway successes in the North. Despite these hits, the actor had to face failures in the form of 'Hey Ram' and 'Abey'. 'Dasavatharam' is expected to do very well in Hindi and the actor probably wants to back it up with a good showing with 'Marmayogi' as well. The movie would be released in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu. Kamal Haasan having written the story and screenplay would also direct the film. Pyramid Saimira International will be producing the movie and have awarded Kamal Haasan the production rights on a first copy basis. It would be interesting to see how the expenses of the movie turn out. There is a general perception in the film industry that Kamal Haasan creative mind 'thinks' expensive. Would his creative mind still 'think' expensive with him as the producer on a first copy basis? We'll have to wait and see. But knowing the man's passion for filmmaking, one gets a gut feeling it really wouldn't alter his mindset. 'Marmayogi' is expected to be a historic adventure film with the best of technicians and artistes. Actress Kajol has been approached for a role in the film and A. R. Rahman will be scoring music.

Marmayogi dowsed in troubles

The film was supposed to start rolling by this month end and here goes a hurdle hassling. Kamal Haasan's Magnum Opus 'Marmayogi' was officially launched by Pyramid Saimira over last month followed by photo shoot involving Kamal Haasan, Trisha, Shriya Charan, Hema Malini and Shobana in lead roles. Nevertheless, one of the co-producers of the film seems to have stepped out from the project due to fiscal constraints. Pyramid Saimira seems to be more intractable in their statements that it's something more off rumor and no one is backing off. Pyramid Saimira seems to have been extremely blown down with Kuselan flunking at box-office. Of course, the production Home's unsuccessful venture in North India was more evident as it shut down its operation over there. Also it withdrew from distributing Hindi film 'Shoot at Sight' that is slated to hit the screens by next month. Perhaps, this offers a clear picture that Pyramid Saimira is drenched in lots of troublesome moments.

Kamal Haasan seems to be eyeing the Hindi market and probably that is the reason the movie is going to be launched at the Grand Hotel in Mumbai. The master actor's movies such as 'Ek Thuje Keliye', 'Hindusthani' ('Indian') and 'Chachi 420' ('Avvai Shanmugi') were runaway successes in the North. Marmayogi - Fund raiser for Maruthanayagam?

Every passionate filmmaker has an innate desire to express himself or herself with an ideology or thought that is close to the heart. Everyone who is oriented with Tamil cinema knows that Kamal Haasan has been thirsting for quite a while to make a film called 'Maruthanayagam'. The only reason this film is still waiting in the wings is due to the fact that it involves production costs no other Indian film can ever fathom. Knowing Kamal Haasan and his precision skills for perfection, the film would involve state-of-the-art technological gizmo and exuberant artistes, technicians, Computer Generated Imagery and sets that do justice to the period film that Kamal Haasan has in mind. The film did manage to take off some years ago in the presence of Queen Elizabeth but then 'the still to come to terms' Indian film industry was not ready for a trend setting cinematic adventure that Kamal Haasan is very capable of. The venture being called off brought many traits of the film industry into question. The most appalling reason being no production house, not even a conglomeration of production houses wanting to involve themselves in a trend-setting mission and that too having a tried and tested stalwart in Kamal Haasan by their side. Would all these developments simmer down Kamal Haasan's passion for filmmaking? The answer is an emphatic NO. The maverick in Kamal Haasan was bound to take over and the result could be simply spectacular. He seems to be taking on the 'traditionally adhered to production values' all by himself. Taking on the mantle of producing 'Marmayogi' on a first copy basis, the writer, director, actor is hopeful of cashing it big with this project. No guesses again as to where all the money would go. Obviously to realize his dream of making 'Maruthanayagam' come true. Despite Dasavatharam's mixed reviews, the film is running to packed houses. This is testimony enough that the film has indeed penetrated and is permeating within the hearts of general audiences. A huge boost for the lone war that Kamal Haasan is fighting. With general audiences by his side the versatile actor could very well come out on the winning side. If that happens a trend would have been created. A trend that would put Indian Cinema firmly on world screens. Way to go Kamal'.keep fighting'.
