Let's hope Karan realise his dreams by getting a rousing welcome from movie buffs for his Kokki.
Karan in new mould
Actor Karan, after a long gap, is ready to make a splash on the big screen with Kokki, which has him in the lead role. Speaking about his film, Karan says, "Kokki has given me satisfaction of trying something different. My hunger for good roles finally ended with Kokki. Henceforth I would do only hero's role. But they would not be regular formula films. I would try to be different from others." The movie is directed by Prabhu Solomon and features Kolkata's Sanjana in the female lead. Karan says, "Kokki has brought a sea change in my attitude towards films. I am more informed and keen to excel." On how Kokki happened, Karan says, "When I was planning to do hero roles, I happened to meet director Prabhu Solomon. He narrated a storyline which impressed me. Karan to speak Madurai lingo
When Kamal Haasan, the shrewd judge of men and matters singles out a performer to be special, he or she will certainly be. Karan, whom he gave a big break in Nammavar, certainly is. After hovering in the middle range and out of it too, Karan came back strongly as a hero with Kokki. It was a movie that gave him a new perspective and now Karan is ready to challenge new frontiers of excellence. His next movie is Thee Nagar where he plays an incendiary youth. He was so involved in the project that he was laid low with an accident. Karan took that in his stride. Karan who has lost a lost of weight is also doing another interesting film. Titled Karuppasamy Kuthagaikarar, it is directed by Moorthy. A new Mumbai girl who has been christened Meenakshi is the heroine. Karan, who says the film has a rare humor, speaks Madurai dialect and his portions with Vadivelu are expected to be the talk of the town.
Karan on the consolidation mode
Karan is on the fast mode. The actor, who managed to hog the limelight playing the lead role in Kokki, is keen on cashing in on his new-found image as hero. He is curently working in a couple of films - Thee Nagar and Karuppasamy Kuthagaikaran. The former is a campus-based action film while the latter is a hilarious entertainer. 'After Kokki directed by Prabhu Solomon, I had several offers coming my way. However, I want to be very choosy. I pick my films with great caution,' he says. Buzz is that Karan will work with director Prabhu Solomon again later this year.
Karan pins hopes on Karuppusamy Kuthagaitharar
'Movies set around Madurai always succeed. I am hopeful that Karuppusamy Kuthagaitharar too would reap harvest at the box office', says Karan. The movie features Karan in the lead role with debutant Meenakshi playing his heroine. The movie is set in Madurai and Karan has trimmed and lost several kilograms to play the role. Talking about the film, Karan says, 'It is an out-and-out action film. I have spoken Madurai Tamil in the movie. We shot for over 52 days in Madurai and its adjoining villages'. Post Kokki, 'I received a lot of offers. However I wanted my next to have a strong storyline. Thankfully I came across Karuppusamy Kuthagaitharar. Music by Dheena is very catchy.
