Aditya Roy Kapur's Kashmiri connection in 'Fitoor'

It is known that Aditya Roy Kapur plays a role of Kashmiri guy in "Fitoor" and the film has been shot in the valley. But there is more Kashmiri connection in the forthcoming film as the younger version of actor in the film is played by a local boy. The casting team took various auditions in Mumbai as well as Delhi but when they came across this boy in Kashmir, they felt he was the perfect fit for the role, read a statement. The boy, Mohammed Abrar, bears stark resemblance to Aditya in his traits, and seemed to be a perfect fit for the role. The spokesperson of the film confirmed the news and added: "Lots of auditions were done before Mohammed Abrar was finalised to play the role of younger Aditya. The team was very happy with this casting as he fits the role very well." Abrar was given proper training before they started shoot with him. He suited the role completely and he even bonded very well on the sets with Aditya. Apart from him, there are a few other people from the support cast as well whose casting was done in Kashmir. Directed by Abhishek Kapoor, "Fitoor" brings Aditya and Katrina Kaif together for the first time on the silver screen. The film is said to be an adaptation of Charles Dickens' novel "Great Expectations". It hit a roadblock due to budget issues, but is back on track. It is slated to release early next year.

Naseeruddin Shah, Anupam Kher spar over Kashmiri Pandits

A war of words has broken out between two well-known Bollywood actors, Naseeruddin Shah and Anupam Kher, over who can fight for Kashmiri Pandits. Taking a potshot at Anupam Kher, who has been vocal about his fight for Kashmiri Pandits, Naseeruddin Shah had said on Friday, "A person who has never lived in Kashmir has started a fight for Kashmiri Pandits. Suddenly, he became a displaced person." Shah was in the national capital to promote his latest release 'Waiting'. Kher, a Kashmiri Pandit, was quick to respond and tweeted, "By that logic, NRIs should not think about India at all". Kher has been vocal about his fight for Kashmiri Pandits and had last month urged the government to build "first smart city" for the displaced community in Kashmir Valley and said he felt that the Article 370 (which prohibits Indian citizens from other parts of the country from purchasing land or property in the state) should be abolished. In India, there are around 62,000 registered Kashmiri Pandit families who migrated during the nineties from the Valley due to rising militancy in the Jammu and Kashmir region. The Jammu and Kashmir government had earlier this month informed the Centre that it had identified three areas for rehabilitation of Kashmiri migrants. The Narendra Modi government had kept the rehabilitation of Kashmiri migrants on top of its agenda and had sanctioned Rs 500 crore in its first budget itself.

I hope Bollywood starts shooting in Kashmir again – Aamir Khan

Aamir Khan was here after more than a decade and was so impressed with the breathtaking beauty of the valley that he hopes filmmakers return here “like the good old times”. Aamir arrived here Wednesday and visited the famous floating vegetable gardens in Dal Lake. “I have come to Kashmir after more than 10 years. Last time I came here to shoot ‘Mann’ (1999). The place is wonderful, the people are nice and hospitable,” Aamir told reporters during his visit to the Dal Lake. “I hope Bollywood starts shooting films here like the good old times. My uncle (filmmaker Nasir Husain) used to shoot his films in Kashmir,” he added. Some parts of his super duper hit “3 Idiots” were filmed in Ladakh region of the state, but he couldn’t come to the valley then. “We went directly to Leh to shoot ’3 Idiots’ and I did not get an opportunity to visit the valley that time,” said the 46-year-old. Aamir said he is on a pleasure trip here, but his visit to the floating vegetable gardens, a private school and a riverside location in north Kashmir indicated that could be on a recce for his new film. Sources also said that Aamir had shot an ad film for Incredible India here Wednesday.
