National award-winning actress Kangana Ranaut says that despite being a love story, "Katti Batti" unfolds like a thriller that would raise the curiosity of the audience. As part of the film's promotion, Kangana and actor Imran Khan visited a radio station and interacted with the media. "From the promos, what people are feeling is obviously that it is a modern love story. But it's much more than that. If you see the film, it unfolds like a thriller though it is basically a love story," Kangana said. "Girl and boy like always are meeting and falling in love, but the difference is that this girl has suddenly disappeared, the mystery about who is she and where has she disappeared unfolds during the course of the film." Response to the promos has been extremely positive. "Whoever has seen the film has loved it, Aamir Khan loved it. The aspect that people actually love about the film is the innovative manner of narrating the love story. As far as the songs are concerned, 'Sarfira' has already become popular and we have received good response for the film till now," said Kangana. The story traces the journey of Maddy and Payal spanning their love, live-in relationship and separation over a period of time. Directed by Nikhil Advani, the film is scheduled to release on September 18.

My character in 'Katti Batti' has been toughest: Kangana Ranaut
Kangana Ranaut says her role in forthcoming film "Katti Batti" has been the toughest she has ever portrayed so far in her career. Interacting with the media at a promotional event, she said: "The character of Payal which I have portrayed in the film is the toughest character so far in my career. Which I'm very sure the audience will get to know once the film releases. "There are some features in my character which have not yet been revealed in the trailer and the film's promos, as we want those hidden features only to be revealed once the film releases," Kangana said. "I had said earlier during the release of 'Tanu Weds Manu Returns' that my character of Datto in that film was quite tough. But now, after doing the character of Payal in 'Katti Batti', I feel this character has been the toughest in my films."
Kangana directed seven-minute sequence in 'Katti Batti'
Actress Kangana Ranaut has stepped on the other side of the camera for her upcoming film "Katti Batti". She has directed the first seven minutes of Nikhil Advani's directorial, in which she will be seen with Imran Khan. Kangana took cinematographer Tushar's blessing and gave him Re.1 to allow her to use the camera. It was shot in one take. "It’s a seven-minute uncut sequence. I had to shoot it by holding the camera in my hands which was the demand of the script. It was nerve-racking, but actors can do anything for a director who shows trust and faith in his actor's abilities. Nikhil is one such director," Kangana said in a statement. Advani is really impressed with Kangana. “One of my favourite scenes in the film is one in which Kangana's character is shooting Imran playfully with an iPad. I wanted the scene to be authentic and organic so Tushar suggested that we should allow Kangana to shoot it herself. "The lighting was completed, the set was cleared out and Kangana has shot the scene like a pro, adding one more talent to her already overflowing basket," Advani said.
Live-in couples to attend 'Katti Batti' promotions
As the concept of Imran Khan and Kangana Ranaut-starrer romantic comedy “Katti Batti” is based on live-in relationships, the makers of the film have decided to invite real-life couples for their next event to give them a chance to meet and greet their favourite stars. “The makers have thought of a unique way of inviting real-life live-in couples for the next event that will be organised. As the film is based on the very concept, the idea fits in very well and gives us a chance of having audiences be a part of the activities that we execute,” the spokesperson of the film said. They film's makers will be running several contests and will be identifying the couples through several activities, post which they would be inviting them for their immediate next event with the cast. Directed by Nikhil Advani, “Katti Batti” is scheduled to release on September 18.
