There are lots of film production companies in Kollywood, but the two companies that are leading the horde are Oscar Films and Kavithalaya. Most of the time these two companies always have more than two mega projects planned months in advance and immediately after the shooting of a particular film is finished, the next film's work get started. Kavithalaya has teamed up with a film producing house in Kerala for superstar Rajinikanth's next movie 'Kuselan'. The company's film after 'Kuselan' is 'Krishnaleelai' having Jeevan as the hero. A film starring the action King Arjun directed by Perarasu titled as 'Thiruvannamalai' will hit the floors after 'Krishnaleelai'. Not only that, Kavithalaya productions owned by the veteran director K.Balachander is gearing up to remake an other film of the master filmmaker after 'Naan Avanillai' directed by Selva and starring Jeevan which was released some time ago. Selva will again take the charge of the director in 'Nootrukku Nooru' which also will have five heroines like 'Naan Avanillai'.
Kavithalaya to produce 'Kattupaya'?
Director Tharun Gopi's maiden venture as hero is in the film 'Kattupaya' and is expected to go to the floors very soon. He joins the long list of directors who have taken to acting. The recent successes of Sundar C, Cheran and S J Suryah have propelled many to follow them. Tharun Gopi is one among them. Tharun had rendered films like 'Thimiru' and 'Kaalai' earlier. His third directorial venture will feature himself in the lead role. The script is ready and the shooting is expected to commence very soon. Rumors are doing the rounds that K Balachander's Kavithalaya, is impressed with the script and has reportedly taken the mantle of producing the film. The co-producers of 'Kuselan', Kavithalaya, is currently producing films including the Arjun starrer 'Thiruvannamalai', and 'Krishnaleelai' with Jeevan in the lead role.
Kavithalaya's next production
K Balachandar's Kavithalaya is now set to produce the movie 'Nootrukku Nooru'. Director Selvah, widely known for his yesteryear remakes, including the recent hit 'Naan Avan Illai' would direct this movie. This remake of 'Nootruku Nooru' will have five heroines in the cast. Vinay, after the resounding success of 'Jayam Kondaan' plays the lead role of Jayashankar from the original, while Sandhya, Sneha, Kasthuri are signed in for three of the heroines. Yesteryear Bollywood actress Hema Chowdhary plays the mother role. Sources reveal that talks are being made with Lakshmi Rai, Maheswari and Banu to play some two roles in the movie. After a long interval, Salim Ghouse of 'Vettri Vizha' fame makes a comeback with this movie. Imman scores the music. 'Tiruvannamalai', 'Krishnaleelai' are the other forthcoming projects of Kavithalaya of which the former is to be released shortly.
Kavitha Lankesh takes up 'AVVA'
One of the brilliant directors of Kannada cinema Kavitha Lankesh after a series of thought provoking films like 'Bimba, Deveeri, Alemaari, Preethi Prema Pranaya and Thananam Thanam' is back after a brief exile. Her new film 'Avva' is based on an episode in 'Mussanjeya Katha Prasanga' a novel of her father late P.Lankesh that won the Sahitya Academy award. For this script Kavitha's late father P.Lankesh in association with B.Chandre Gowda have written the dialogues long ago. Kavitha is directing this film for pyramid Saimira Theatre Limited. Suresh Urs is the editor, Madhu Ambat is the cinematographer and Issac is the music director for this film. Kavitha has written the screenplay besides doing the direction. Top notch in the Kannada film industry actress Shruthi, Vijay of Dhuniya and Rangayana Raghu (both state award winners for 2006) are in the lead roles. The Karnataka Home Minister M.P.Prakash is also in an important role of 'Avva'. Enagi Nataraj, Sudhendra Prasad, Ashwath Ninasam, Arundhati Jaatkar, Hanumakka, Nataraj Honnavalli are also in the cast. Smitha is making debut as heroine from this film.
