KHOSLA KA GHOSLA bags BEST SCREENPLAY award

There may be murmurs (and noise) all over the town after the recent FILMFARE awards announcements but there have been few recognitions that have met with wholehearted approval. BEST SCREENPLAY award for KHOSLA KA GHOSLA is one of them. After seeing a delay in its release for around 3 years, the film opened to a howlarious response and enjoyed a consistent stay at the box office to make a decent profit for itself. And credit for that goes to an almost flawless writing by Jaideep Sahni that resulted in the film being identifiable by one and all. If there was one single factor that was most admired by the audience, it was the real-life feel that each and every sequence in the film exuded. Credit to that goes to the superb screenplay by Sahni that did the trick. No wonder this co-production of Savita Hiremath and UTV is gaining a cult status with every passing month.

UTV presents 'Khosla Ka Ghosla'

It was quite some time back when Anupam Kher starrer 'Khosla Ka Ghosla' was announced and wrapped up. But since then there hasn't been any news about the film's arrival at the screens. Latest bit of information is that it is UTV that would be presenting the film now which is the debut directorial effort of Dibakar Banerjee. Starring Anupam Kher in the title role of 'Mr. Khosla', the film also stars Boman Irani [as an estate agent], Parvin Dabbas and Tara Sharma, and has been written by Jaideep Sahni. Shot in Delhi, the film interweaves a generation gap drama in a typical middle-class Indian home with a hilarious land mafia story.

UTV backs Priyadarshan's Tamil remake of KHOSLA KA GHOSLA

After ruling the box office with films like Jodhaa Abkar (Hindi/Tamil/Telugu Version), Race (Hindi/Tamil/Telugu Version) and Aamir, UTV Motion Pictures is all set to create the same magic in the Tamil & Telugu film market, where presently it has a slate of 5 films under production in both the languages. 'Poi Solla Poram' (PSP) a Tamil co-production with Four Frames and presented by Priyadarshan, directed by the young gun Vijay Anand (Kireedam Fame ) is slated for release on September 12, 2008 with around 54 prints across Tamil Nadu area.. UTV is all set to recreate its trademark cinematic experience, as it introduces a whole new genre of films to the South audience with PSP. "The best and most original stories are told in the South. We plan to collaborate with key talent in the South market and build a slate of great movies in the next few years", says Ram Mirchandani, Founder & CCO of UTV Rampage Motion Pictures. The Tamil remake of the critically acclaimed and box office success, acclaimed Hindi laugh riot 'Khosla Ka Ghosla', 'Poi Solla Poram' (PSP) is presented by Priyadarshan's first co-production with Four Frames. With director Vijay's directorial acumen and Priyadarshan's creative production backing this film, it is one of the most awaited films of this year. Says Priyadarshan about the film ' "'Poi Solla Porom' is a well scripted and executed film that is sure to stand out in the crowd." After producing cult films in Hindi like Rang De Basanti, Life in a Metro & co-producing films like Mahesh Babu's Athithi and Kannamoochi Yennada, UTV Motion Pictures has an impressive line of 4 Tamil & 2 Telugu films under production. UTV has relationships in place with the two big stars Vikram and Suriya from the Tamil industry for its forthcoming films. Suriya would be directed by one of the biggest directors in their next action venture film titled 'Mugammoodi'. Mysskin, as he likes to be called after the famous Dosteovsky character and director of Tamil hit 'Anjadhe' will direct the King of Kollywood in a slick action flick. The film with Vikram is to go on floors in May 2009. Director Selvaraghavan is also on board to creatively produce an interesting story, potentially starring his charismatic actor brother Dhanush. Then, a first of its kind trilingual venture (Tamil, Telugu, Hindi) titled 'Lost in Chennai' potentially starring the young star of Taare Zameen Par who took the world of cinema by storm ' Darsheel Safary. In Telugu, UTV is proud to be associated again with the superstar of Andhra ' Mahesh Babu and ace director Gautham Menon for a film that will start shoot in Jan 2009. UTV has left no stone unturned when it comes to promotion of its new film Poi Solla Porum. It has partnered with sites for its online promotion and as media partners it has amalgamated with Out-Of-Home media. Poi Solla Porum falls into big leagued films where its promotion is concerned in spite of its non-inflated budget for the film. UTV has been in co-sponsorship with Kalinagar TV during Vinayaka Chathurthi for the promotion of the films. The film will have a star studded premier on 11th September, 2008 at Satyam Cinema organized by Satyam Cinema group. About PSP: What happens when a control freak is confronted with land shark? Rude reality check, a bit of major running around, 'judicious' utilization of muscle-n-word power and lots of family bonding. That is the premise of this comedy caper that also sends a very serious message across on the realities of everyday life and the sometimes unjust system that we live in.

"The honor belongs to the common man" - Savita Raj, producer KHOSLA KA GHOSLA

Its a dream come true for Savita Raj the producer of 'Khosla Ka Ghosla' "The jury which bestowed the National Award to us clearly makes the good old concept stronger by shouting on top of the voice that content is king and that if content is strong and effective in entertaining it can touch a wide spectrum of audience." says Savita Raj. She further adds that," The honor quite belongs to the common man of India who is being inspired, and attempting to fight his battle against all odd situations in his day to day life including land mafias, legal systems, wealth brokers, corruption etc.' 'Khosla Ka Ghosla' (KKG) gave new lease of life to small budget yet good meaningful films. The film has been path breaking and has inspired small budgeted films to take a plunge at the big screen. The advent of multiplexes has made this possible giving a platform to new kind of story telling. The film 'Khosla Ka Ghosla' had been scripted by Jaideep Sahni whose content has won several awards. According to Savita Raj, Director and Creative Head of Tandav Films Entertainment, "Khosla Ka Ghosla has not only been appreciated of its concept and storyline but its music, dialogues and characters have left a deep impression on people's heart. I thank all jury members, media and the common man for honoring the film and making a memorable film immortal. '

Anupam 'Khosla 'Kher On a High

Anupam Kher has acted in over 350 films. And doesn't have to do go out of the way to get noticed! He has been there and done that. I personally feel he was a bit low in the last few years. But this year he seems to be back-with-a-bang. His small role in 'Rang De Basanti' was noticed. But it's his latest offering 'Khosla Ka Ghosla' that is earning him applause-galore. He is once again playing a 'Saraansh' type idealistic old man albeit within a lighter vein. The burps, and the loud morning gargle, the control freakiness, the nervous energy, that 'Dil Hai Ki Maanta Nahin' awkward walk and the belief in laughter therapy'.Mr Khosla literally rocked. Come October 20 and Kher will have another big release 'Jaaneman' where he is playing a lovable dwarf Chachu. Kamal Hasan has done it before and the world knows that it requires a hell lot of physical and mental strain for acting in a dwarf's garb. He is also featuring in the hit song 'Jaane Ki Jaane Na' with Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar. He was also in the main lead in the recent release 'American Blend'. So, as the year heads to an end, Anupam Kher seems to have emerged as one big winner. Especially, because you don't expect a bald middle aged actor to steal the thunder from good looking hunky heroes. MusicMazaa applauds the spirit of Anupam Kher.
