Kiss issue blown due to gossip-hungry television media

Reacting to the apology rendered by actor Richard Gere to the media following the outcry over pecks he planted on Shilpa Shetty's cheeks, the actress's spokesperson Dale Bhagwagar commented, "It is sad that Gere had to apologize for no fault of his". "All he had done was enacted a scene from his film 'Shall We Dance' to entertain the truckers at the AIDS awareness event. It was a natural cute and loving impromptu gesture by Gere which was blown out of proportion due to improper projection by the gossip-hungry television media," Bhagwagar said. He maintained that it was an irrelevant controversy and said that Shilpa was neither hurt nor humiliated by Gere's gesture. "It is really surprising that three pecks on Shilpa Shetty's cheeks can cause such an uproar especially in the land of Kamasutra ," he added.

Does Ash-Hrithik Kiss Warrants a Court Case?

Why the hell such a big deal is being made out of a mere kiss. Beats me. Especially when the kiss in questions has been shot aesthetically and is a beautiful romantic moment in the film. Obviously you know what I'm referring to. Now, the Ash-Hrithik kiss in 'Dhoom 2' has invited a court case. A publicity hungry advocate Shailendra Dwivedi finds it 'obscene' and has filed a case in the court of judicial magistrate first class R K Batham in Indore under Sections 292 (vulgarity) and 509 (derogatory to women) of the Indian Penal Code. According to the complainant, the women felt offended after watching the scene and it promoted vulgarity in society, especially among the youth. The court has fixed December 11 for recording evidence. Earlier it was alleged that the Bachchans were upset with Aishwarya for losing her inhibitions. But this public tamasha has gone a bit too far. Apparently this advocate Shailendra Dwivedi has earlier filed such complaints against other film stars as well with the sole intention of becoming famous. It goes without saying that with all the news channels showing his bytes, the man is famous already and can also provoke a few heated debates on television soon. Hypothetically speaking if the court finds Aishwarya and Hrithik guilty and sentences them to jail, then in that case kissing queen Mallika Sherawat would be sentenced for life'Oh these kissing woes'.

Jimmy refuses to kiss Nandana in STRANGERS

We have heard of heroines backing off and refusing to do do kissing scenes in bollywood. But according to the source on the sets of "STRANGERS", surprisingly Jimmy Shergill backed out of the lip lock scene with Nandana Sen on the day of the shoot. According to reports, it was supposed to a very emotional intimate moment between Jimmy and Nandana that culminates in the lip lock. Director Anand Rai had earlier explained to Jimmy about the scene which required the actors to kiss. Though the director was a bit skeptical whether Nandana would do it, he was apparently caught off guard when Jimmy refused to do it. But director Anand Rai justifies his lead actor, " Though I had explained the scene, I understand that actor sometime are not comfortable doing intimate scenes on screen. When I set out to make Strangers, I was clear that my film was about relationship. Therefore a kissing scene with Nandana or the semi-nude scene of Sonali Kulkarni, though important for the emotional turmoil the character goes, I was always flexible for options and pointers from the star cast." When Jimmy was asked for his reaction he clarified that, when he heard the initial narration from the director he was sure, it wasn't a must do sequence in the film and made it clear that he didn't want to do it. According to him even the director understood it and was cool about the whole issue. Lip lock or no lip lock in STRANGERS seems like Jimmy Shergill joins the bandwagon of actors like Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan who do not kiss on screen!! STRANGERS produced by Sahara One Motion Pictures is slotted to release on December 7th 2007.

Shipa offers kiss for charity

Shilpa Shetty after winning the Global Diversity Award along with the ace Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton in London has helped to raise 63,000 pounds for a charity organization called as The Silver Star Appeal. The organization helps the diabetes patients by making available to them mobile diabetes assessment units. The NRI Labour MP, Keith Vaz is the person who started the charity last year when he was diagnosed as a diabetes patient and decided to do something for the people suffering from the disease. On Tuesday night, Shilpa wooed the audience with an offer of a kiss to anyone who like to spend their money for the cause of charity in return for a dinner with the British Prime Minister Gordown Brown at Wembley. But remembering the chaos the different organizations in India acting as the moral police had created when she was kissed by the Hollywood star Richard Gere on the stage during an event to create awareness on AIDS in New Delhi last year, Shipa made it quite clear that she do not want to see her effigies burnt in the street and the kiss will be given on the cheek. Eventually a man who decided on parting with 12,500 pounds became the winner and got not one but three kisses from Shilpa. The money raised from the charity auction will be utilized for buying a mobile diabetes unit. Another item on the offer during the charity auction night was the "Bollywood Dreams". Prakash Lohia, who is the chairperson of the multinational company Indorama won this auction and thus got a chance to go to India and meet megastar Amitabh Bachchan and also bagged the offer of having tea with Sir Richard Stagg, the British High Commissioner to India in New Delhi. Prakash Lohia won the auction having offered 25,000 pounds.

I don't kiss in films, never will: SRK

In 22 years of his showbiz career, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has perhaps hardly ever locked lips with his heroines and says he never will. He admits he is not just uncomfortable about kissing on screen, but doesn't even know how to do it. "I don't kiss on screen because I don't know how to do it. I don't do it because I feel weird...and I feel those who do it in films, do it well already," Shah Rukh told reporters Friday. "I feel discomfort in doing two things for films. When anyone comes to narrate a story to me, I tell them two things - main ghoda nahin chalaunga aur main choomunga nahin (I won't ride a horse and I won't kiss)," added the 45-year-old. Shah Rukh's well-known witty side came through when a young journalist asked him if reports that he has kissed Kareena Kapoor for his upcoming sci-fi superhero film "Ra.One", are true. Looking dashing in a formal black suit, he seemed to be quite amused at being asked such a question at a press conference meant for the formal announcement of Tag Heuer's tie-up with Buddh International Circuit, the host of Formula One in India. "Where did you read these reports," he asked. "They are all over the internet, probably reported from Mumbai," she said nonchalantly. "How old are you my dear?" asked Shah Rukh, and the lady responded: "I am 25. But you shouldn't ask a girl her age." Came SRK's quick rejoinder: "Well, dear, you don't ask such questions to men! You've asked me this, I am a simple guy, married man with kids...but don't ask such a question to men on the street! But, because you are young, and possibly just stepped into journalism, please don't believe whatever you read on the internet. It may not always be true." Shah Rukh says if a film requires him to do things which make him uncomfortable, he quits it. "I don't kiss simply because I am not comfortable doing it. I am pretty uncomfortable even at laughing in my films...so whenever there is a scene where I have to laugh, or where there is a scene where I am uncomfortable or I feel I will not be able to do justice to it, and whenever there are animals involved and I feel they might be mistreated, I quit the film in its narration itself."
