'Leelai' - Ready and raring to go

Shooting of the Madhavan-Shamita Shetty starrer 'Leelai' has been completed, according to reports. Apart from Shamita Shetty, (Shilpa Shetty's younger sister), Madhavan has also romanced Sada in this film, which is based on a Telugu novel. Said a source, 'Dubbing, re-recording and sound effects have been completed. Currently, the film is in its final mixing. You can expect 'Leelai' to hit theatres soon.' 'Leelai', which was simultaneously shot in Tamil and Telugu, becomes the first direct Telugu film for Maddy, since the actor's earlier ventures were just dubbed and released in the neighboring state of Andhra Pradesh.

Madhavan's 'Leelai' shelved

Ram Gopal Varma's Hindi film 'Darling' was to be remade in Tamil with Madhavan and Sada in lead roles. RGV collaborated with some financiers from Hindi filmdom to produce this film and it was to be directed by Kona Venkat. The movie titled 'Leelai' set sail smoothly with Madhavan, Sadha and Shamitha Shetty reportedly donning their roles perfectly in this obsessive love themed thriller. But then, financial constraints have unfortunately made the ninety percent complete film come to a grinding halt. The movie has been officially shelved and what's more, the name 'Leelai' is now being used for another project from the stable of Aascar Ravichandran.

Aascar's 'Leelai' nearing completion

Actor ' director S J Suryah and music composer AR Rahman formed a wonderful team in Tamil cinema. They combined to render several musical hits in Tamil cinema including 'New' and 'A Aah'. Now their associates come together to forge a new team. S J Suryah's associate Andrew Louis and Rahman's assistant Satheesh Chakravarthy team up for a movie titled 'Leelai'. Interestingly, the movie is being produced by Aascar Films V Ravichandran. The movie is about the romance that blossoms between two software engineers working in a MNC. It would be entertaining and engrossing, says Andrew Louis. It is a hi-tech love story but would attract even people in villages, he adds. "The entire movie was shot in popular software company HCL. Even the employees of the company were prevented from carrying cameras and mobile phones to their company. But we managed to get the permission of senior officials from the company and shot the movie for over 100 days inside the company," preens the director. The movie has cinematography by R Velraj. Shiva, who worked in several advertisement commercials is being introduced as hero. A popular model Mansi will play the female lead. Santhanam plays the comedy part to provide the humour quotient for the movie. Editing is by V T Vijayan, art by Edward and lyrics by Vaali.

Ajith for Santhanam for Leelai

Leelai, a film starring Shiv Pandit and Manasi Parekh is all set to release this Friday after languishing in the cans for two years. The film has been given a fresh lease of life for two reasons - one of them is Ajith. The producer of Leelai is Ramesh Babu, Aascar v Ravichandran's brother. Since the latter is distributing Billa 2, the hottest film of the year, theatres have shown their support for his brother by giving Leelai a big release. Santhanam is the other reason. He is the current flavor of the season and everybody wants a piece of him. He has a big role in Leelai and since Shiv Pandit is not a known face in the South, having shot up to fame with Shaitaan in the North, Santhanam is going to be the big draw! Andrew Louis, a former assistant of SJ Suriyah is the director and music is by Satish Chakravarthy.

A hero from North India in 'Leelai'

The south Indian film Industry has always its good share of heroines from the northern part of India. Kollywood received these girls from the other side with open hands and made some of them to be screen goddesses. On the other hand never a north Indian Hero has ever made a mark as a leading man in the Tamil Film Industry. The times, trends and techniques of the film making process and attitude is changing and nowadays film lovers are more open about almost everything they think about films. So this is the right time for Shiv Pandit to mark his innings in the Tamil Tinsel Town with Oscar Ravichandran's 'Leelai'. People have seen this extremely handsome actor before in the advertisements of Colgate Active salt and Airtel. He had his stint as a sports Anchor for the IPL matches too. Andrews will direct this new film. There have been several instances of actors who came to Kollywood years ago completely becoming the sons and daughters of Tamil soil dissolving themselves into the life culture of Tamilnadu after finding incredible success in their careers here. Time will tell the stock that is in hold for the new actor Shiv Pandit.

Leela Official Teaser Goes Viral!

The official teaser of Leela, the upcoming Biju Menon starring Ranjith movie, has been going viral on social media. Leela was recently in the news for the clash between Ranjith and the producers association. The 40 seconds long teaser is just hilarious and highly promising. Interestingly, the teaser is also defined as Ranjith's striking reply to the producers association's undeclared ban on Leela. It features the lead actor Biju Menon, who play Kuttiyappan, along with Vijaraghavan and Parvathy. The teaser features the most popular situation from the short story, which depicts Kuttiyappan's personality. But sadly, Kuttiyappan's famous dialogue in the short story hasn't been featured in the teaser. Reportedly, Leela is not the exact adaption of Unni R's short story but has many differences in the storyline. The role Kuttiyappan was initially offered to several actors, including Mammootty and Mohanlal. But finally, the role went on to Biju Menon, who has been concentrating on supporting and comic roles. Leela stars the Ezhu Sundara Rathrikal fame actress Parvathy Nambiar in the title role. The movie is penned by Unni R, himself and produced by the director Ranjith, himself, under the banner Capitol Films.
